And I'd rather not pay with my time just standing there looking at a log when I could use it to do something else that focuses on the afformentioned. I also use mods to rebark trees if I accidentally debark, can also crack bricks to add detail, have elevators I can craft to tp from a floor base to a skybase or mine (I don't like using map or waypoint tp though, bc even though it takes time to get places, I do find it relaxing to explore and traverse, and it's also where I draw my line for mods enabling easier gameplay bc it takes away the challenge of making it home with all my new loot/items).
      Anyways, I use over 200 mods sometimes so the game has a lot more to it than vanilla. This means the balance changes and more time is spent doing other things, so it's ok to "cheat" out on faster tree farming a bit.

    I think the difference between this and things like the Elytra or other things is that it's a building block, it will never make other woods obselete because Other woods work better for certain builds. Most builders don't just make a build and say, "I need some wood", they say "I need some _____ wood" because each of the wood types works better for different builds.

    • @_ERR_404_
      @_ERR_404_ Год назад +32

      Yes, but delegating a whole type of block with core mechanics like that to "hey, you look nice" and nothing much else makes the game more shallow. We can see things like this with copper. You only need it for two or three lightning rods for wool builds high in the sky (if you build that stuff) or a singular spy glass (if you don't have Optifine or don't care about the fact you can use both Optifine zoom and spyglass at the same time). Other wise you only need it for builds. it would be a shame if such a lackluster position in the game was applied to more types of blocks, and minecraft is already suffering for its surprising shallowness with a lot of features being trump cards in all but time making other features obsolete.

    • @JoannaFalkowska

      @@JoannaFalkowska I do agree. Minecraft needs more in depth mechanics and decisions, it doesn't have to be the most complicated decision in the world, but it needs it. Especially for decisions other than building. I do think what makes this issue shine more though is the fact that it is a sandbox game that is designed around general play, so having the definitively best wood being bamboo does not help that goal. And the fact that most woods were already mostly equal before hand, before bamboo planks. Maybe to alleviate this issue, while adding more depth, is by adding new recipes for each wood what isn't interchangeable. nothing game breaking, but something that adds to the game like scaffolding.

    • @_ERR_404_

      @@EmeraldMan25 yes and no. In the early game, wood's mechanics is "what do I need to progress" and little more. But in the late game, the question is now "how does the player interact with each wood type and what are the pros and cons for each?" With the way the player interacts with wood mainly being crafting, farming and building, and the pros and cons being how they grow and looks, the main questions that a player answers is "which one is the easiest to farm" and "which one looks the best". It's really not a problem. Bamboo is useful for 3 things: Bamboo Planks, Scaffolding, and Sticks. The Planks and Sticks are the only comparable things here. For the most part, Bamboo Planks are only decoration in comparison to other planks. Sticks are the final comparison here... and let's be honest, they're sticks. Sticks are used, but are also incredibly easy to get. Tools, rails, bows, torches, it's true that you do use sticks all the time. But when you remember that 1 log = 8 sticks you realize that you have all the sticks you need.

    You forgot about 2 very important things:
    1 - Bamboo isn't very dense. 9 bamboo = 1 bamboo block = 2 planks. 1 log = 4 planks. Do a bit of basic maths and you realise that logs are literally 18 times more dense than bamboo! Imagine transporting and especially storing 18 times as much stuff in case you needed to craft a bunch of chests or literally anything else.
    2 - Bamboo is way more crafting intensive. You need 2 crafting operations, one of which requires a crafting table. So if you want to craft 50k planks, you need to first convert a billion bamboo from a billion shulker boxes into bamboo blocks, and then you still have to convert them into bamboo planks! Compare that to logs where you just.... craft the planks dirently in your inventory.
    I feel like everyone is overreacting it
    "Oh bamboo is so easy to farm" - Your bamboo farm has to be 18 times faster to match your wood farm (my argument #1)
    "But bamboo can be farmed automatically" - You still need a player that randomticks the area
    "But the player doesn't have to do anything, he just stands there" - Same for tree farms, but in a tree farm the player holds the right click
    "But bamboo farms are easier to make" - Easy? yes, but just look at the size! It's several football stadiums in area!
    "Tree farms are only for TMC players" - Please google "ilmango simple tree farm" and tell me that it's too complicated and a good bamboo farm isn't.
    This is not a personal attack, it's just that my frustration that has been building over the snapshot period that finally needed to be vented. Thank you for listening to my TED talk

      The simplest tree farm design from ilmango or otherwise is still far more complex than a good bamboo farm. Tree farms are more resource intensive and time-consuming to make than a farm that just requires pistons, hoppers and observers. They all require a bone meal farm, slime, and significant technical knowledge. The simplest bamboo farm requires you to know how an observer works, and is automated.
      I agree he skimmed over the amount of tedious crafting and storage needed, but it is still a vastly superior farm to make than tree farming. In the end you'll spend less time crafting than you would have spent holding right click at a tree farm.

    jungle biomes are kinda rare, and you often find them more late game, when there is actually a greater need for mass producing wood. Other wood types are great, but as you progress in the game, it gets harder and harder to keep wood production up with your increasing demand for wood, especially with how tedious tree farms can be (the reason why many people just kinda don’t use them). I think that bamboo being easy to farm is a good thing, due to the applications of late game farming this could have, and the fact that you usually don’t find jungles until late game.

    To be fair, there are a couple of big drawbacks. 1) You need to craft blocks of bamboo before crafting them into planks. And many spigot and paper servers have spam protection that breaks mass crafters. 2) You can't make charcoal out of them, and that's what wood is often used for (from my experience as a more casual player).
    One simple (simpler?) solution to nerf them further is to change the crafting recipe from blocks of bamboo to stripped blocks of bamboo. In that case, you'll need at least 2 players and an xp farm to mass produce planks. But then everyone will complain that bamboo became useless.

  • @MindDemand1337
    @MindDemand1337 Год назад +3

    I think what they're trying to do is come up with a friendly way to get rid of TnT Dupers. They've said for a long time that they don't like having that glitch in the game, but it's still in since it's basically the only thing that makes huge projects sustainable. By making a wood type that's easier and faster to farm, it removes one thing that dupers are practically required for.
    If we're talking about relevance with wood types, let's be real. Acacia is hardly ever used for anything outside of building due to how difficult it is to farm, manual or otherwise. The same goes for jungle, mangrove, and the nether wood types. Their only use is for building or the occasional crafting bench, and that won't change. Bamboo grants a more accessible wood farm to more casual players, and that's all this really does.

  • @Piman1607

    Personally I think Bamboo is fine overall it doesnt really break anything or make things worse for minecraft but lets say we want to balance out bamboo. Since bamboo is a fuel source and is used for scaffolding being a huge part to minecraft we can nerf it by getting it a percentage drop. Same way with melons it gives you a percentage of the crop instead of all of bamboo. So every bamboo has a 70 percent drop rate and having fortune or looting on a sword ups it at max to 100 so farms that are automatic arent as overpowered. Now another way is making it like cactus where it can be placed near blocks and will break if not placed next to another bamboo. Last solution is bamboo can be corrupted if not maintained properly or put in proper environments or slows down the rates of production because of such things occuring. Personally Idm it how it is but if they change it I would like these options so it doesnt ruin much of anything overall and can balance it out
