And then in 10+ years this set will be hilariously mind blowing. 10 year old kids will come to your studio and say "What is THAT? No way!!! What the heck! I can't believe they made this. I'm tempted to pick up this set for that reason alone....but not tempted to the point of purchase.

The point of legos is to have fun. As a kid I would have the traditional legos and when I got bored of them, I made my own custom vehicles, with elements of the core design. This Lego series feels like that. And honestly think children and even adults will enjoy the concept. Find the good and joy in things, not just think of it as a dust magnet when every Lego collects dust.
I like that it’s just something different. So often, we get a regular X-Wing, a regular TIE Fighter, a regular Millenium Falcon, etc., but now, they’re finally branching out, doing weirder stuff that wasn’t ever thought of before.
Especially because we'll almost definitely have a new Falcon in like 2 years anyway so it won't matter. It's not like they made a goofy Acclamator or something which we basically get once and then never again. Just wait for the new set or buy the older one which you can still do for the rest of 2024
Even though I didn't like the other LEGO Star Wars shows, I am so much more hyped for Rebuild The Galaxy because the story (from what we've seen) looks MUCH more interesting and only something that works with LEGO. I also love how it's animated in the style of the LEGO Movies, and not the normal CGI they've been using for the specials and past shows.

That was my initial thought was that they were pointing to the legend books, but oh well. Then they could do the white falcon from when the new republic fully restored the falcon and Han hated it running and feeling like a brand new ship.

I personally like these wacky sets because it allows for Lego to sort of experiment/get more creative and make their own takes on the IP from time to time. I think it’s a nice variety, and it keeps them from making sets strictly for the pre-existing source material. It's a part of theme that feels more like Lego's spin on Star Wars instead of the usual "Star Wars but in Lego" that other sets are.
I think this at least something different instead of making just another slightly different version of the standard Falcon. The mini figures are pretty unique also.
Don't be a party pooper killjoy man, the dark falcon is a breath of fresh air from the umpteenth variation of the millennium falcon. Doesn't have to be your taste but gimmicky/novelty does not = bad, if anything the Lego brand prides itself on gimmicky twists and it will always be a fun way to change things up a bit from the monotony.
I personally like the idea of introducing these spinoff sets since they're unique and give us some new content. I feel like majority of the sets we get are just re-makes of the same set over and over again, so its nice to get a different variant of those (even if they're not canon)

You’re tripping dude. This is first Lego falcon I bought because it was so cool and unique. It’s beautiful, and the mini figs are amazing. If you wanted a bland grey falcon they’ve made 50 versions of it of it already lol

It makes a great set, not only because of the minifigure line-up but because the set itself is a talking piece. If you have this in your living room, people are likely to comment on it because of the all-black design or even the white Darth Vader minifigure. It attracts the interest and attention that a regular Falcon just wouldn't receive. Great review David! 👍
I don’t think it will be a „top seller amongst casual Star wars audience“. Why would most people, myself included, want anything from Star Wars, that’s not really from Star Wars but some weird changed Scooby doo fun set. So I don’t think it will be a top seller, but it will probably once end of lineup, turn in a few years into an incredible valuable set.
David. I preordered the first day it was available. I am 58 and my son got me back into this as a hobby 2 years ago. I have the 2004 Falcon, made the UCS this year, and have the midi scale Falcon. I do not have the 2015 or 2019 falcon, so this is a nice variation and color and mini figures that was my reason for ordering it.

Lego RUclipsrs will always find a way to dislike what Lego is putting out. This is a neat and unexpected set. Lego had some fun and of course you don’t like it.
If you look at it purely from a creative play perspective it has some value. I mean the Falcon can’t be the only Corellian light freighter left in the universe. So maybe you could play with it as a completely different ship. Maybe a rival to Han Solo owns it.
I already have a normal Falcon, so interesting variants like this are the only way I'd ever buy another one. Personally, I love it, and have to figure out how I'm going to display it paired with my existing Falcon.

The dark falcon now allows for some wicked mocs for empire, like tie phantom, decimator and ties nicely into the classic space theme well.

I agree. I think it could be looked at as a blueprint off colored version and look really cool next to the Solo movie falcon that’s white and blue.

Lol. I didn't even realise this was linked to a show. I just saw an evil version of the Millenium Falcon and knew I wanted it. I could not care less about the million dime-a-dozen pale bog standard Millenium Falcon's out there. But this one? That's the stuff.
I really like it. I never found the Falcon very interesting. Guess I don't like gray all the time.
But this black Falcon is classy looking. I'm getting it!
I love the black with little red accents. Favorite color scheme. I got lucky to get 2 of them for $200.
Fun set and minifigs. Looks great in black.
