- Foamposites have always been one of those shoes you either love or hate. Regardless of how you feel about the sneaker, Foamposites have a special place in sneaker history. If you’ve been into sneakers for a while then I’m sure you remember the Foamposite craze during the late 2000s’ and early 2010s’. The silhouette was one of the most coveted sneakers of all time. In this video, we take a closer look at the history behind Nike’s Foamposite techonology and how it came to be.

It doesn’t matter if most of the US don’t like foams, NIKE will always make money on Foams off the STRENGTH OF MARYLAND, Washington DC, and VIRGINIA

I picked up my cough drops in the outlets for $98 in 2010, I was the only dude in highschool with foamposites at the time. Then the galaxy foams came out a few years later and changed the game.

The Foams are so ahead of its time, it only became truly mainstream more than a decade after it was first released.
If there’s only one shoe I’d buy again and again for the rest of my life, it would be the Foamposite ones.
Same here, man. Though, I’m a Pro man myself. That sweet swoosh gives a nice balance to the foam upper. Ones or Pros, I respect all Foam Heads. Peace ✌️

Man I had the original royal blue and the black ones. Somedays I would rock one blue and one black one . My favorite shoe. I spent my whole check on the royal blue when they came out, 200 dollars but Man did I get so much action. I think the black ones coming out in December THIS YEAR

Funny story. I kept hearing rappers talking about the Eggplant Foamposites in their songs. So, I looked them up online. I’m from NYC, but was living in KCMO at the time, so I NEVER saw them in the stores hear. I started copping mine on eBay and loved how firm they were. It was funny because my wife HATES them and the loud colors but every time I wear them, all the little kids point, look, and tell their mom how bad they want shoes like mine (I’m 52). Anyway, before I could find any Foams in the stores, I just happened to be in a Nike outlet looking for sweats, etc. I strolled through the shoes just in case and wasn’t planning on getting anything because I knew that 12s and 13s would be all ugly stuff that nobody wanted. Well, I found my first pair of the Concord Grapes for like $110 and I got the 12.5 and the 13s. They 13s fit the best and I fell in LOVE. M

What’s even more crazier is that 25 years after, they are still ahead of time.

I'm from the first generation... In DC, you know who had money by their shoes. We've been wearing Foams since 97.
he said "failed release" and "struggled to sell". i remember me and everybody i played hoop with wanted these. they dropped on a school day and everybody sent their parents to nike town to go stand in line for em. my pops got up extra early and grabbed mine. i remember it the complete opposite of bro. nobody could find a pair. i almost got robbed after every basketball game i played in these. maybe they only were huge in the bay area, but these were the biggest deal in 97

Foamposites are one of the best shoes ever made. In seventh grade all my friends had them and i saved up to get a pair. I’m now in college and turning 21 and still rocking foams. Nowadays i only have eggplants and electric greens but i used to have the electric blue, cactus, sport blue and the pine greens. They are forever my favorite

Yo, enjoyed this but you missed an important part of the story (I’m 46 years old and remember this vividly). Nike introduced the foamposite material as a partial panel on a couple basketball silhouettes before eventually making the all-over Foamposite One. I don’t remember the names of those models but I remember it as taking about two years to work up to the Foamposite One. That said, keep up the great work on the channel!

Hey, always Love all you’re videos!!!! I remember 10 years ago when Foamposite had its resurgence I had the OG Royal, Pro Pearl, Cooper, And Eggplant. I was about 11-12 years old in 1997 when the OG Foamposite released and my parents weren’t gonna buy a name brand shoe let alone $200 pair of Sneakers!!! Kids these days have no idea what the sneaker culture was like in the 1990’s and 2000’s. They got it hella easy with eBay, Flight Club, Stadium Goods, Stockxx, GOAT etc... Back then when they said SOLD OUT it meant SOLD OUT!!! Lol 😆 and you ain’t never seeing that shoe again!!!
The Foamposite are VERY DURABLE and They Last A LONG TIME!!!
Just got a couple of pairs of Nike Air Max Triax 96 the OG Colors. If you get the chance I noticed this part of this video that you show all the 1996 Nike Releases from the Eastbay Catalogue could you do it on them??? Nike Air Max 96 and Nike Air Nomo(Which I also owned the Navy Blue and Red Pair) great shoe as well, and Nike Air Max Triax 96. Try doing a video on sneaker releases of the year example the video could be called This Year in Sneaker(Put the Name of the Brand) History 1995 or 1996 etc. Or you could do a video on Bape or Hypebeast in the 2000’s just giving suggestions!

Still have a pair of foams one, you have to break them in though at first and then it will mold to your feet.
That's what I've heard haha You got to really break them in first
Even tho they get hate, I played in them for a basketball tournament they didn't miss and they are surprisingly great performer.

Trust me, I have a pair, had it for 3 years, bottoms worn out and everything. The “foamposite” material doesn’t mold to your feet.
They really need to get back in the game like sbs it’s crazy but not too long ago foams was selling out like crack wit the og colorways now they just be dropping any old ugly colorway and they sit and collect dust

Great work/video Nacho! I played college basketball at Arizona from 2005-09 and we were supposed to rock the blue Nike foams for the 10 year anniversary during the 2006-07 season but we got some huaraches instead from Nike. Still salty about that! 😂👟

Back when those penny foams dropped I didn’t think Jordan’s could be topped but when I seen them in person I wanted them instantly but never seen them anywhere for sale. I was rocking the playoff 12’s at that time.
