Excellent tutorial video, much appriciated, Thank you. I just finished the front outside CV joint boot on a 2015 700 grizzly. If I may add a couple comments. Only the lower ball joint needs to be separated. There is enough room to remove the axle shaft from the hub, just rotate the hub up and out. No need to separate the steering or the upper ball joint. On some model (my 2015) the metal boot clamp is not reusable. Make sure your kit comes with clamps. When removing (hammering) the joint to get it off the axle (@ 5:45) it is best to use a brass (soft metal) hammer. You can also put tension -(pulling straight outward )and hit the outside part of the joint, no need to aim for the inner part. Again, use a brass hammer if you can. The joint/balls get much more abuse riding in rocky off-road than a single hammer blow. My background is being a Honda(car) mechanic. Replaced countless CV boots and joints after some nasty Chicago winter. The cars use the same style of CV shaft, slightly larger than the ATV's.
Just an FYI people..you ONLY need to unbolt your lower ball joint..the lower control arm and spindle moved aside gives you enough room to simply slide out your axle and save time and aggravation undoing the top ball joint and tie rod.
Good job.... you already know that though.... you are the man that I go to when I need help with my bike..... I'm replacing a lot of things..... ball joints.... hub bearings ...CV axle rebuilding and so on ..... I watch a lot of your videos....... heating the hubs up and then taking out your ball bearings is a lot easier ..... I learned that from another RUclipsr .....and also a good tip ......I don't know if you do that .....but that would be good to add in all the little tricks and trades....... thank you very much...............jon_jon.......JJ....
Hello. very clear video.. if I want to adapt to a home made buggy this front stering knuckle... do I need all the shaft mechanism so that the wheel spins.. I do not want in my buggy 4wd.. just want on the back so can I avoid this? I think this yamaha system is strong enough for a buggy jumping and this kind of thing. thank you and regardss.
I really appreciate your videos. Especially since I own a 2007 700 Grizzly like a lot of videos show. I did my rear axles with your help. Can you tell me if the 2 front axles are the same or is there one for the right and different one for the left? Thanks again for you help!
I use the rims. That way the suspension is free to do what it wants on rough roads. With the Atv in park or the park brake engaged, hook a strap to the rear rim web and secure it to the front of the pickup box or trailer. Then hook to the front rim web and secure the strap to the back of the pick up box or trailer. Do this on both sides and the Atv will not move. And yes your rims are strong enough to handle these stresses.
Hello from Russia, John. I really appreciate your channel - the best technical ATV channel. Please give me an advise how to act. When I was removing an axle (for changing a boot), I had to use special tool (I used ball puller for removing upper joint). I was adjusting the tool under the joint and at that moment a little grease came out, the joint boot isn't damaged. Now I am going to install the axle back. Do I need to add some grease into the joint boot using a plastic syringe? Is that case normal or may be I damaged something?
Easy enough until axle clip gets behind the CV joint assembly. Can hook it and grab it with needle nose pliers, but I don't think there is any hope of getting it out. With all the grease I didn't see that it wasn't on the axle when I tried to get it back in. Ended up just pushing it to bottom of cup... Any thoughts? I did order a factory clip for $9! I might have been able to find another one elsewhere, but not certain on size. Any issues with leaving the other one in there? Seems like it shouldn't hurt anything. This was the rear axle I was working on.
I have a question about a 1986 suzuki ltF-230. It blows white smoke from exaust ONLY in choke and now started blowing small smoke from head. Plz help I'm using the atv to learn about mechanism so that's why I don't get a new one

Hey I got a 2015 Polaris Sportsman 850 Touring Ho EFI XP SP, Its Idle is very rough only goes between 850 - 900 RPM and wont rev, Im hearing its the crankshaft and Im also hearing its the TBS and MAP Sensor and the TPS, it sounds exactly like the Polaris in the video ( ruclips.net/video/8Q3pZ6Un9DY/видео.html ), if you could find out anything that would be great thanks!

I tore an axle boot yesterday. Your video was GREAT! Thank you!!
I ordered the parts from Partzilla this morning after watching this.
Before doing this job, watch this video several times over and take your time with the work. This is the proper way to do it.
Great Value video! It took me an hour and a half total to complete the project. Thanks!
Just an FYI people..you ONLY need to unbolt your lower ball joint..the lower control arm and spindle moved aside gives you enough room to simply slide out your axle and save time and aggravation undoing the top ball joint and tie rod.
And obviously the axle nut..
Thank you for this it saved me a few hundy on labour. 👌
All the best from Germany for you! Great videos.... i will visit you for sure when i visite the states.... regards, andré
I wish you had a video of how to remove the rear as it is a bit different

Really great video, thank for the text too.
Can u pop the inner side off the same way
Excellent production on this how to. I know it is to help sell parts, but it is appreciated.
Great video any tips on how to remove stubborn upper and lower control arms they won't budge Thanks
Great info! Thanks for your videos!
i noticed at 11:25 you are using a socket that wasn't on the table at the beginning of the video! what are these "socket with a universal called" ??
That one is made by Snap On and it's called a Swivel Socket.
Great work John Sir...👍

Can you do some late 90s Suzuki quadrunner videos?
If we can get a hold of one, we will add it to the list!

What about the rear inner?? Same way? Do you have to take the outter off to replace the inner?
my 2007 Yamaha grizzly 700 was exposed majorly and got a lot of water and dirt. can u make a vid on how to fix it or what to do with it.
Can you change just the inside boot without touching the outside boot?
Yes
@@frankyalvarez7160does the inner joint come apart just like the outter by tappin it with a hammer like he did?
If you remove that big clip ring on the front it just pulls out.
nice video! does it fit on grizzly 2014?(the boot i mean)
If you got the dough is it better to just replace the whole axle if it ain’t new?
I really appreciate your videos. Especially since I own a 2007 700 Grizzly like a lot of videos show. I did my rear axles with your help. Can you tell me if the 2 front axles are the same or is there one for the right and different one for the left? Thanks again for you help!
I am lazy, does partzilla sell the entire axle with the boots already preinstalled and greased?
For the price of a aftermarket cv axle its easier to just replace the whole thing. Why even mess with it?
I have a 2019 Grizzly 700. any idea where the best place is to hook a ratchet strap?...Looked in the manual but cannot seem to find any info...thanks

I assume you take off the inner joint the same way you did the outer joint?
is there a better way to remove the cv joint? i destroyed one taking it off
for the boot change but the cardan shaft could be a video and if it is translated into Spanish it would be great
Where do I get a lift like that?
Very helpful thank you!
very nice video . thanks "
Hey partzilla I have 2018 yamaha kodiak 450, was wondering if this would work on it
Haven't worked on one yet, but it should be about the same procedure.

Is the rear replacement the same process? 2013 yamaha 450 grizzly
@12:37 it appears to have a rip in the boot.
Yeah for real it does
Are the rears the same part and process??
Awesome video
Thanks
is there anything for a flashing fuel gauge n anything on a difficult shifter
what's the difference between a boot set (double offset joint) and a boot set (Ball Joint) on your website?
Is it just me or does the tires tread pattern look like they are installed backwards on this ATV?
they are facing the correct way. you want the V pattern facing towards the front of the unit.
@@PartzillaPartsso basically every manufacture sells there atvs with tires on backwards? 😂lol no way bro
What would the torque be for a 2001 Kodiak 400 front axle nut
Do I need a tourqe wrench
What about rear

Would the rear CV boots change out be the same?
Either they loosened it up before the video. Or they never ride that machine.

Partzilla I am having some serious trouble removing the outter CV joint. What could be my issue?
