I was going to say the same thing. I would love to be his neighbor and I'm 62. I would follow him around like he walked on water. (Randy Travis song) lol
Good of you to give the kid some hands on time. There are some out there that want that opportunity but don't have the option. Always rewarding to see them have that opportunity. Good of you to provide that.
Great that you are passing along knowledge to the next generation. Everything I know and learned was from older guys. I’m in my 60’s and still learning. God bless you sir.
As so many have already said, it's good that you are sharing your knowledge with this young man. He will know how to fix/make his own stuff and not just toss it out and buy a new one.
Did you check the fuel screw adjustment on the front bottom part of the carb. there is a aluminum plug hiding it. you can adjust it to get your fuel mixture correct 1 1/2 to 2 turns out.
Man that little guy is very lucky to have such a great teacher/ shop instructor as you ! Great project.... I loved the heat treated plastic rehab very cool !!! Keep up the great work
It's the idle set screw needs turned up.,or the fuel air mixture screw needs backed out to the left smidge to let idle.&that miss is from valve sticking. Just add in some stp with bars stop leak that has zinc additives.,or just get some pure zinc to add into the crankcase motor oil.
You could shoot Mustie1 a message and see if he's got any ideas on what's possibly going wrong with the engine. Interesting and entertaining video, as always.
Thanks Brent for taking a young man to keep off the phone and hands out of pockets. He's gonna appreciate you when he gets older for sure. Your just an all around great guy for sure
Thumbs up to you Brent for being a mentor. Growing up on a Dairy Farm in Wisconsin my father didn't know how to fix machinery he'd tell me to watch him take it apart so I could put it back together cause he couldn't remember. I've taught my own children how to work on their vehicles with confidence.
It's always nice to have a shop helper . It reminds me of me at that age riding around the neighborhood looking for someone working out in their shop just hanging out watching them
check the wires and connections in your spark system. Miss could be wire shorting out or loose, commutator is internal and voltage regulator is external.
I do enjoy the 2nd channel stuff... maybe borrow/ steal sieve from the wife's kitchen for the tiny carb pieces in the sonic cleaner.. It is so awesome that you are mentoring that young fella...
This is something this young guy will remember for the rest of his life, the times he spent with the neighbor Brent fixing stuff in the shop, and when he gets older he will say " the good ole times." You're a good man Brent.
I use a metal household strainer to put the little stuff in. One that will let them sit in the mix of course. I am sure you have figured this out by now. haha. I have had my Ultrasonic cleaner for about 14 years. Cleaned many a carburetor in its day.
That’s pretty cool. I’m 65 & psyching up for an LS swap, not to mention the metal repairs I have employed. That kid is not the only one learning from HA customs. Thanks to you. Doug from Steveston BC
You are a ginius. You gave a young man a chance to learn the skillis he may carry on throug life as my father taught me. You are what we people are all all about.. Keep it up, we need you.
My Big Bear was doing the same. I rebuilt the carb, Still the same. The air idle screw that is on the bottom of carb is hard to get to without the proper tool. I just kept removing the carb enough and adjusting the Air screw to keep it running and not dieing and finally got it to idle.
The Helper is great, he knows what he is doing. Surely not afraid to get his hand on the tools..! You need to get him in more videos..Really enjoyed you guys working together.. The shop helper love it..!
Superb video! Saw a lot of promising pointers in the comments below. Hopefully one of those leads will pan out for you. Kid did a heckuva job. Hope he's a semi-regular so you can get the extra set of hands you need sometimes to get things done. The experience the young Sparky will acquire is priceless. Cheers!!!
That was nice of you to let the neighborhood kid help you. When I was a young pup I use to like to tag along with the grown ups and help them. Learned a lot from them I use in my life now. Your a good man Brent passing your knowledge to the next generation.
When I was that young there was a Ford mechanic and stock car racer in the neighborhood who let me change plugs, pull blown trannies, cut roofs off rollovers and helped me tune my Go Cart. Because of him I worked my way through high school and college as a small engine mechanic. Brent you are that guy to this young fellow, good on you! Great video!
I concur with the previous comments concerning Ryder's fortunate opportunity to have someone with your skill sets take' the time to show and teach him some basic shop skills. Everyone his age should have this benefit as it will always come in handy when thinking thru problems and how to tackle them. Thanks
The old Bernz-O-Matic kits had a heat diffuser to strip oil based paints off wood. Maybe that would help to give you a nice even look when you’re redoing the plastic.
I have to add on to the appreciation of your mentorship of the young man. Also, there are precious few youngsters these days that want to learn from their elders. Although not successful in the end result, showing Ryder the craft is a WIN, WIN, WIN.
A loose tea “egg” works great for small loose parts, also paint cups with the parts cleaner in it works great you just need a weight tho hold down the cup.
Awesome to see you teaching that boy some useful skills that he'll be able to use the rest of his life. Not enough of the next generation is learning this stuff. Great job!
Brent I cannot say anything that has not been said but that young man is following in the footsteps of a Master and it's a wonderful thing to see You the Dogs and Now the Young Man Got to Love IT THANKS
I had same problem of poor idle on my Honda FourTrax. Take a small wood block and place against carb body. Gently tap with a hammer to loosen carb float. Spray carb cleaner down the air box toward the carb jet area. Install new $17.00 fuel pump, install new fuel filter and ensure fuel hoses are free of dirt, etc. Idle should return to normal RPM without engine cutting off due to fuel starvation.
I know that you cleaned the carb but the problem is still in the idle circuit of the carb. Did you pull any welch plugs when you cleaned? You should have. There is a tiny hole that vents the float bowl on idle that I'd guess is plugged. It is a very tiny channel no bigger than the head of a pin and it travels up through the body of the carb quite a ways but it is plugged and is usually only cleared with a fine wire. Ya fire it up and it idles for a few seconds and quits because it needs additional venting to continue the flow of fuel on idle. As soon as you rev it up it runs okay because then it vents via the jets.
I see a new RUclips Channel, (Young Gun Customs). How awesome you are teaching the younger generation how to use their hands to create rather then playing video games. 👍👍👍
The knowledge he gets from you, he will not get in any vocation school! There are shortcuts to doing things faster and safer than any schoolbook could ever teach him! Hands on learning is the best way to go!
That quad has a mind of its own, sounds fine when its revvin. Your helper works well with minimum supervision, good to have near when extra hands are needed, Waiting for your next video, Stu in Ontario....
Hey Brent. Very nice of you to show the youngster a thing or two. He looks very interested! He will always remember you showing him some things. Very nice video!
Its a great thing that there are still young folks that want to learn, to work in the shop fabing, wreching, painting. Just getting their hands dirty. Think its great your taking the time to teach this young man the basics, then he can develope his way.
Yeah, Brent, that young feller is gonna be a future "Gear Head", with your instruction, he's almost there already! Pablo was giving you the "Dirty Doggie" Look for not giving him a ride on the Quad!
For the engine, try running it off a separate bottle and line directly to the carb. That's one thing. And another, play with the carb's settings, clip, needle, whole lot to see if something changes (other than the obvious things).
Kool piece of equipment particularly the fire paint, nice rehab. Decent little big helper. Hoping for the best & awaiting, the next one...! Thanks again.
The young man is gaining a priceless education at the hands of a master. Kudos Brent for taking him under your wing!
Ok something different !Nice of you to show this young fellow how too weld he will remember this for the rest of his life ! thanks for sharing.
Great that you are passing along knowledge to the next generation. Everything I know and learned was from older guys. I’m in my 60’s and still learning. God bless you sir.
Awesome video, that young man will never forget the hands on help, hope to see more of him.
As so many have already said, it's good that you are sharing your knowledge with this young man. He will know how to fix/make his own stuff and not just toss it out and buy a new one.

I'll bet that young man is so excited to learn this stuff, he likely has been bragging none stop to his friends, I know I would have! Great stuff!
This is so cool. If only someone kind like you had helped me like this when I was younger. Well done you.
It's the idle set screw needs turned up.,or the fuel air mixture screw needs backed out to the left smidge to let idle.&that miss is from valve sticking. Just add in some stp with bars stop leak that has zinc additives.,or just get some pure zinc to add into the crankcase motor oil.

You’re a real class act. What a great experience the young lad is getting. Great to see. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like you've got a good helper..and guiding him in a a good direction, I like that..
Great show Brent. Teaching the next generation some of the tricks of the trade, Really cool. 👍
Coming soon! Halfass Kustoms Jr.
I like the fact you aren’t afraid to tackle any type of problem with any type of vehicle.
Those are skill he will use the rest of his life. Great job Brent!
Good helper!, finding help these day is rare. Nicely done, he will remember this.
It's always nice to have a shop helper . It reminds me of me at that age riding around the neighborhood looking for someone working out in their shop just hanging out watching them

They make a tea steeper hinged holder that works great for small parts
I see my favorite build in the back ground.
Truth be known, I'm sure Brent enjoyed it as much as the young man did 👍👍👍👍👍👍 reminded him when he was teaching his own children.
Fantastic! I really enjoyed you involving/teaching a young person!
This is something this young guy will remember for the rest of his life, the times he spent with the neighbor Brent fixing stuff in the shop, and when he gets older he will say " the good ole times." You're a good man Brent.
Well done Brent, Rider is going to be a car guy with all your influence.
I use a metal household strainer to put the little stuff in. One that will let them sit in the mix of course. I am sure you have figured this out by now. haha. I have had my Ultrasonic cleaner for about 14 years. Cleaned many a carburetor in its day.
Keep the young feller at it, he's a natural!
Great job you teaching and mentoring the young man we need more people teaching the trades Great job

That kid is not the only one learning from HA customs.
Thanks to you.
Doug from Steveston BC
Help the young fellow learn how to half-ass things on his first vehicle you have true friend for life
The kid is a good student, willing to dig right in. Works well with his hands.
Good facelift! Thanks for the detailed information.
Good to get the young involved. It's how most of us did. Thanks for a fun video.
You are a ginius. You gave a young man a chance to learn the skillis he may carry on throug life as my father taught me. You are what we people are all all about.. Keep it up, we need you.
Glad to see RIDER and Brent teaching him That’s Excellent

*- Brent, even at high speed replay, I can see you are a good teacher, a natural.*

The Helper is great, he knows what he is doing. Surely not afraid to get his hand on the tools..! You need to get him in more videos..Really enjoyed you guys working together.. The shop helper love it..!
Try and find a loss leaf tea basket for your small carb parts .
Doesn't matter how long it took, you still got it running.

That kid did a good job for you. But there’s nothing you can’t do Brent. Thanks for Sharing!

Great job mentoring this young man Brent. We need a million more like you and millions more like this young one taking interest.
Something tells me Brent when you sleep at night your dreams include turning wrenches!😆
i think the intake boot has possibly got a crack in it. That kid is awesome 😎👍
Could be a bent rod? Awesome experience for the young lad, he will remember this for the rest of his life.

Hey Brent. Very nice of you to show the youngster a thing or two. He looks very interested! He will always remember you showing him some things. Very nice video!
Ultrasonic cleaners are awesome, I don't know what I'd do without mine. Cheers from a half-Canadian in Utah 😅😅 Thanks Brent
Really enjoy the second Half Ass Customs channel!! Nice job Brent!
Looks like a great time. Teach, play, clean. Lots of learning went on.
