poignant and timeless. can you imagine, Roland writing such deep meaningful songs when he was a young lad (17?)... and they call what they churn out today "music" - shame.

Songs from the Big Chair is one of the most listenable albums I've ever bought. You can pop it on and just let it go... not a bad song on it. I wore out my auto-reverse cassette deck with it.

Same with Roland's solo albums for TFF. Elemental and RATKOS. Never had to skip a track only if it was by choice. ELAHE was great as well. Well worth the 9 year hiatus.

These guys are the sound track of my life. They can do no wrong. The hurting and songs from the big chair are my favourite and woman in chains is mye and my partners song makes me sob now we are parted. Shout I can listen to over and over and over again and never tire of it loved it the first time I heard it and will till I die and will have it played LOUD at my funeral I could go on and on about these bit their music says it all. For me no band comes close even though I’m a huge cure fan who have made way more music of eaqual quality a forest Charlotte sometimes
    Shout shout letit all out
These are the thing I can do without
Come on I’m talking to you come on
I’m 100% serious these guys know how to make music that never fades or ages. My love for them is endless and pale shelter literally saved my life as it so suited my teenage mood I played it thousands of times as I was depressed yes it’s that sort of song but for me it helped. Thank you curt and Roland for your work and love of music which kept me sane. This is my handshake and thank you to you I’ll never get the chance to do

I recall one of their arguments before their breakup in 1991 was because Curt was complaining about not getting enough singing time compared to Roland. Producers explained that their audience, by that time, have become accustomed to Roland's signature voice and they wanted to maintain that momentum of familiarity.

They were amazed of their Filipino fans who watched their first concert because the Filipinos were singing with them the whole time. That's why TFF promised to come back after 2 yrs. Forget the critics and write from your existential flow which taps into those universal themes which made many of us stop and say within, ‘what is this wonderful thing I’m hearing’?

There were a few iconic beats that spawned dance moves that defined the eighties. TFF songs definitely contributed to that phenomena.

I think Roland Orzabal is Basque. That may give him his interesting voice that contrasts wonderfully with Curt Smith's very English voice.

He was born in the UK. He has the same accent as Curt.... Well he did, until CURT moved to Hollyweird and adopted that new American British accent he got going on... Roland dad was from France, abuelolito desde Argentina... You speak with the accent of WHERE YOU WERE BORN, WHERE YOU FIRST FORM YOUR VOCABULARY, NOT WHERE YOUR GRANDPARENTS WERE BORN..

I don’t care what type of music it is I grew up on metal and West Coast hip-hop so when I was a teenager it was either 2pac or Metallica or Ice Cube or Pantera or Snoop Dogg, Slayer, Ozzy, Tha Dogg Pound, Guns N Roses, Dr. Dre, White Zombie, NIN, Westside Connection , etc. but Tears for Fears is one of the greatest music ex of all time in my book. Their music in the bed pretty easily. It always takes me back to when life was good when I hear they’re not sick and anytime on at the beach sitting on the balcony watching the Ocean with a beer in hand or a joint they always seem to be the perfect soundtrack. They have made some of the best things your ears should ever hear hands-down.
