I had a colony of japan blue endlers. I sold all the females and kept most of the males. The males are less agressive so I can keep fry from other fish with them untill they're getting too big/too many for the 18ish (70L) gallon and go to the 92 (350L) tank. I had more tanks, but you've got to compromise when you're not living alone.
    - I love your least killies

I've had fancy guppies and endlers.
I prefer the endlers, as they seem more resilient.
I bought a male/female pair along with five fry in late September at our club's garage sale.
I have a lot more endlers now 😁
I've separated the males into another tank and waiting for the next batch to colour up.

Awesome! I dig Endlers & wild guppies. I prefer them over fancy guppies. Fancy guppies can be too fancy for my taste sometimes. I'm not into the big floppy fins of fancy guppies. It makes them seem clumsy and awkward. Male wild guppies are cool looking. I like the females too. Even though they're colorless, they're kind of shiny and chrome looking which is cool to me. I love the colors of Endlers too. Platies are my favorite livebearers. Guppies and Endlers next favorites.

I'm in Dallas, TX and the water out of the tap is 9.0 PH, due to limestone deposits in the area. Starting the Summer Tubbin' for the first time last Spring, I have been keeping Least Killifish (purchased), Sailfin Mollies (purchased) and Western Mosquito Fish (collected wild) in the outdoor tubs. Temperatures will freeze here, but it doesn't stay cold very long. One of the tubs has frozen over once this season, but there were no losses that I could find and I can still see the fish swimming around on warmer days.
In the indoor aquariums, I recently purchased Blue Star Endler, Red Picta Livebearer and Yellow Belly Livebearers. All juveniles in planted tanks.
I have noticed different breeding results from my Least Killifish than yours, perhaps based on my harder water. They will have multiple births, breed once per month, and the males are interesting in that they like to duel each other without inflicting damage.

I have silver Mollies. I bought four females. Lost two right way . Went back and got two more . Later found out one was a male .
They are having babies like crazy . I'm running out of space and have no idea what to do with them .
I now have three tanks going .Babies tank ,teen and adult .lol
I wanted just one tank .
    They are cute .
They come to me like puppy dogs and nibble at my fingers .
So they DO have lots of babies be ready .

I absolutely love the small wild type guppies and endlers. I have a tank full of wild-looking guppies that I got from a friend. I am working on separating out my favorite males to breed with the females. I don't know why, but I love the tiny males with spots much more than the normal fancy guppy. I absolutely love your livebearers! The last endlers you showed are gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing!

Those endlers are gorgeous! I did my first summer pond this year and had guppies, Platys and white clouds. They all bred better than I expected.
Platys are my favorite live bearer.
I really am loving my guppies
The white clouds are the only ones who haven’t bred since they are back inside. The females looked ready to pop, I made sure I had lots of plants, but no spawning.
The fish I bought in from the pond appear so hardy and healthy.
The tank that was just from the pond is doing so well.
Sadly I lost a group of white clouds and guppies overnight in one tank. Then all but one white cloud of a group in another tank.
I’ll have to see about breeding next summer. I’m out of space for now!

Yay livebearers! You need to get yourself some neoheterandria elegans(tiger teddies). Unlike most poecilia types, they can do very well in softer water. They are almost identical size as least killis. They just prefer a lil warmer water. Top rack fish for sure.
And they are stunning, with beautiful stripes and glowing orange eyes.

i think male endlers are just about the most colour and personality u can readily get in the smallest package.
i have two at the moment; they are great. they've no idea how small they are. tbh sometimes they're assholes to my four fancy guppies but the guppies couldn't care less. (they have some sense tho as they never bother my betta hahaha she's the queen of the tank.)
i have super enjoyed all my livebearers. i never planned on keeping them specifically... it just kinda happened because i wanted some more movement in my betta tank... but i fell in love with them all. and actually my betta loves them too. i obviously hoped they would tolerate each other but they seem to really enjoy each others' company!! she schools with them even copies their behavior (for example she never used to eat any food that hit the bottom of the tank but since she saw them doing it she's started following suit)
ive only got male livebearers as my tank is real tiny. but i really don't mind not breeding them - they're all so distinct in looks and personality that i've named them all and they really are all wet pets!!
one of my guppies (his name is ilya) is i swear to god the sexiest guppy ive ever seen. ive never seen one like him. he's got an iridescent periwinkle purple body, with BRIGHT persimmon orange finnage. gorgeous form and a real nice foppish dorsal. he's very sweet too. if a bit of a show off. but i don't blame him, i would be vain too if i were that gorgeous. maybe i need a separate tank just to get some ladies so ilya can pass on his spectacular genes lol...

i'd really like killis at some point, but specifically bermuda killifish (fundulus bermudae) and/or lover's lake (fundulus relictus) because both are rare and threatened and i'd like to breed them (and i am bermudian lol).
my cousin worked in conservation of bermuda's endemic wildlife before he tragically passed away, and i want to do him proud 💙

I enjoy keeping Livebearers too! I had what was once named Fancy Tail Guppies that I got from Hell’s Gate in New York City. People normally would flush their sick or dead Fish down the toilet, and low and behold; the brackish waters of the East River would shock them back into health.

  • @varanaut1308

I like the least killifish but find it very hard to spot it considering my tanks are all almost entirely overgrown plants. I also like the idea of keeping some mollies in a salt water tank especially the very silvery ones because they just seem to pop in that sort of environment. I've been wanting to try to keep some of the goodeids. Rainbow and tequila goodeids in particular. My KH is about 4 and my GH is 11 so I figure that is a very appropriate environment for them.

Evem the female Endler's are beautiful in their understated way. I noticed a cheeky rasbora snuck in with the Endler's in the last tank you showed us. 😊 I was considering guppy males for my 33 US gallon tank (currently with 4 t. Hengeli and an Amano) as I have no contingency plan for babies, but I've read mixed opinions as to weather that's a good idea. What's your take?

  • @MELODYMUNRO
    @MELODYMUNRO 5 лет назад

My guppies have an issue with producing fry that are quasimodo. I have seperated out the only colour females that produce straight fry. I have them in with a group of male endlers to try and breed more stronger genetic traits back into my guppies. The bent ones I have placed in the community tank to live out their days ... any fry they now drop will be food for the angelfish and any other opportunistic feeder.

How would you recommend I find them? I have 2 20 gallon longs and 2 29 gallons waiting for me on the side till I find some to put in them.

My water is 4 GH and 7.5 PH so i cant use crushed corrals to increase the hardness (they do not dissolve at high PH) so I remineralize it ... but if there are other ways to do it i would love to try them out. Probably we are a few facing this challenge. Thanks

I have a question, how can I quarantine a plant but keep all of the snails? Is there a snail quarantine procedure? Got some hornwort from a crappy chain pet store for the snails. After I bought the plant/snail colony I found out in the parking lot that that tank had been treated for Ich in the last few days. I want the snails for puffer food down the road (months from now) how do I dip the plant but keep the snails alive?

I have to say guppies have been a favorite when I was a kid. I would love to start breeding Endlers. Yours are lovely. Rachael, can I ask what are your water parameters for your Endlers? I’m on well water and my KH is 4ppm , thinking it may be tooo soft for them. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing as always..

I am doing a cichlid substrate for some to buffer a bit and salting the really dense tank to compensate for my soft water
