  • Subscribe for more aquatic antics. Endler vs. Guppy, or does it even matter? It's Tank Tour 4, my 20 gallon tall aquascape with a colony of yellow tiger endler's livebearers breeding true! And of course, cherry shrimp. Chock full of marimo moss, corkscrew vallisneria, floating pearlweed, water sprite, and a bonsai driftwood tree. Also, I give a brief overview on the classification of endlers vs. guppies, and the incredibly blurry line in between. Thanks for watching!!

    I like the yellow tiger enlers, I'm working on a cross with a female tiger endler, 1 fry that survived the heat waver last year. Turned out to be a female and raised it alone so she had never been hit by a male. The other side of the cross is a male koi tuxedo guppy. I've gotten 2 generations so far but they are growing slow. Just barely starting to get yellow on the tails.

    • @StephenP2003
      @StephenP2003  3 года назад

      That's awesome, I love messing around with the hybrids. I have a group of female endlers and cull endler males in my pleco growout, and I'm seeing some pretty cool patterns coming out of that as well. I don't rush growing out my fish either. I feel like they stay healthier that way.

    As far as plants go, I can successfully grow most low tech plants. The only plant I'm really failing with is water sprite. I've tried it 3 times with no success.

    • @StephenP2003
      @StephenP2003  3 года назад

      Water sprite is a tricky one. There are tanks in my house where water sprite just cannot thrive, others where it just stays alive, and a couple of tanks it will grow quickly out of control. I think it is just a major nutrient sponge and just needs an abundance of macros, especially nitrogen. I've had the best success floating it, by far.

    Every other channel I've watched so far tell us live bearers will eat their young. Like, all of them. How do you end up with so many?

    • @StephenP2003
      @StephenP2003  Год назад +1

      Well-fed livebearers in a planted tank (lots of hiding spaces for fry) will always colony breed. I imagine many fry do get eaten, which is a good thing for a colony in limited space. Otherwise you'd see exponential growth in population every few months.
