    Only just started with Guppies myself. My wife requested a small pretty guppy tank for the holidays. Working on getting tanks to separate month old fry. In the video Loaches, Apistos, and Gobies- OH MY you asked if there was interest in longer format videos about each aquarium, I have to say yes. Not sure what long format means exactly, but one of the reasons I love your videos is that you get to the point. Thanks for everything

    GUPPIES!!! 😊💖 My absolute favorite type of fish. AND, I've recently realized that I much prefer Blond bodied guppies to gray bodied. I also adore Ginga guppies, though I don't currently have any. It's so stupid, but I'm so ridiculously excited you have these now. I've been seriously considering trying to find some to purchase in a few months for this year's upcoming summer tubbing season. Please make sure to keep us updated on these little ones. I can't wait to see more videos about them! 💖

    Hello.I used to go to all the little pet shops and fish stores when I was a kid to hunt for good guppies. I had a uncle who was a city firefighter and he too kept tropical fish and he knew all the good spots across the city. We had some good strands ,but like I stopped keeping them for a while when I got older. When my uncle passed away I was surprised when I went to his house and still had all the different fish that we bred over the years. By the time I got a call his tanks had got out of control. His guppy tank had more fish than water.😊no lie.I couldn't believe that he had kept everything all those years.The cichlids and the guppies had bred so much that I just couldn't get over it.

    Rachel I just bought out a fish store and just a couple days ago I was like "I think I want to do a small guppy tank in the fish room". Up until then I was like Guppies are not for serious fish keepers, We have some in a small community tank but they are just there. Well I bought out a fish store got some guppies I was happy to be able to get them and start that tank (just to see how I can do with them) and I will be damned, there is 1 that dam near glows! Looks like I will be running a 30g (Long) guppy tank just for the hopes I can get more of that 1 guppy again and again. Once I figure out how to get more I will move them parents and try to get them to breed true.
    It`s amazing how 1 fish you get on an accident can change your entire view of a fish line.

    Ah yes I caught livebearer fever last pond season. My platys has been a little more sustainable but omg I have guppies coming out my ears.... I wanted endler females and special ordered them at my lfs but I just ended up with black tuxedo guppies. Lol sigh. They’ve been creating interesting fry with the endler fathers but I haven’t found anyone who wants them for anything besides feeders so I haven’t let go yet. I really would though like to clear them out and get a more rare, stunning variety like the ones you got. I’ve been jealously eyeing Twin City Guppies’ blue albino strain

    I keep Guppies because there are just so easy with my water and they're just so fun to breed. But of course they can get completely out of hands because you realize I can make a line out of this I can make a line out of that I can make a line like this and then you have more tanks and you even know full of Guppies. I have antlers too and I'm thinking about breeding them more because they're smaller. All the extras that I end up with I put them in the pond outside and then let nature take its course it's a nice Pond they've got a good chance.

    Lovely little things! Guppies were what we started with, getting back into the hobby as adults, when our 8 year old was interested, since I learned that 10 gallons was NOT good enough for a goldfish. Eventually spread to 3 other tanks, clearly a 10 gallon isn’t big enough for guppies either, once they start breeding! 😂 But many lovely colour variations, even from the same parents, really makes it worth keeping them around

  • @dianeconti7602
    @dianeconti7602 4 года назад

    I recently broke down and bought a few varieties of guppies myself. Yes, yes, yes, I used to sneer at them too! My favorite colors are also yellow and orange, which was the attraction. Lots of action and flashes of color that livened up the 2 community tanks that I have. Here in Turkey, most fish die within 2 weeks of purchase, I don't know why. But these guys are thriving and I hope will start to breed soon. Thanks for making these informative videos Rachel. If I ever make it back to the USA again I can see my fish mania taking off in a big way!

It's in a community tank with 4 other apisto (looks like 3 males), a bunch of (about 10) male Endler's and 4 Corydoras Aeneus. Can you think of anything in that tank that might predate on the babies when they come out? It's a 150l (approx 40g) tank. If I have to move the rock and the eggs, will it be safe to expose them to air briefly?

      I’ve not yet kept any ancistrus, primarily since they grow so large and need such big tanks as a consequence. Even the smallest, the bristlenose plecos (some max out at around 4” or so) really belong in a 15-20 gallon or bigger. As most people keep bettas in 10 gallons or less, I’d say that’s a no.

    I always think natural fish, then see something line bred and find myself going oooh, long blue fins...

      its a slippery slope! Then you get some really bad ass wild fish or color form, and you are like oh yea- that is why I love natural fish. Its hard to ignore flashy though!

    I have absolutely zero guppies in my home but it's not that I don't want them. I keep several pure "N" class endlers and being that they would interbreed & spoil my lines I must not take the chance. They say once you have one guppy, you have many and they find their way into your other tanks. Seriously though, there are some really enviable guppies out there & someday I will get some & put them somewhere far away from the rest of my fish (possibly on a separate floor).

      Yea, I have them on opposite ends of the fishroom and don't share plants or equipment in established tanks. Hopefully that will do
