@Ask Sebby is their a downside of product changing now right before the new year? Should I wait unitl Jan 1st? Worry that the new year may trigger new restrictions/fees
My guess why Chase doesn't "re-open" to new applicants is it was probably a deal made between Chase, Marriott, and Amex, that Amex would get the "luxury brand" card slot, and Chase would get the "entry level" cards. But the reason Chase doesn't out right close this loophole, is probably what Sebby said. This gives Chase a path to put their customers in that higher AF card while also still playing coy with Amex and saying "what? no, we don't 'officially' have a luxury Marriott card in our portfolio."
This card is so "rare" that when I the Front Desk lady asked for a payment card at check in she thought I worked for ritz carlton haha This was at a JW Marriott.
I’ve had the card for years and was grandfathered into 😊the $395 annual fee. I’ve always found the $300 airline credit to be useful because it’s not tied to a specific airline as with AMEX. And it’s even better now with the 85000 free night credit. It’s a keeper for me.
I was able to product change to the Ritz card yesterday via the method you showed in one of your RUclips videos last year - THANK YOU! I'm SUUUUPER pumped to have the Ritz and Brilliant cards now for those annual 85k night awards and Platinum status alone!
@@MrAfresh11 I just received my Amex Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant earlier this week. I’m planning on doing the product upgrade to the Ritz in November when my Bonvoy Boundless (which will be 3years) annual fee is due. To me, it makes sense to have both in terms of usability, e.g. American Express isn’t as accepted worldwide, whereas Visa is. The Ritz, being a Visa Infinite product, would have more usefulness, thus still garnering Bonvoy points & premium perks.
I applied for the Marriott Boundless above 5/24 and I was approved and received the sign up bonus. My original plan was to product change to the Ritz Carlton card. I hope it’s still possible by my 12 month mark!
I got this card when they still had the 50k cert and I still thought it was good value. 85k is now a no brainer. I found out you get the 35k one from the Boundless first and at the end of your first year you get the 85k which makes sense. I slightly disagree with the valuation of the 85 cert. I’d say closer to 800 or 1k if you use it at the Ritz in half moon bay which is absolutely amazing
Pretty cool to see this little hidden product change trick you can do from Chase's Marriott cards to the Ritz card. Like you said, having that secrecy and exclusivity to an extent can only be a positive for Chase. Thanks for sharing Sebby!
Thanks to you + Mark Reese I have the Ritz CC. It's definitely a keeper for all the reasons you stated at only $450 AF! Thanks for all the info + videos!
When you product changed, did u do it before or after you used your 35k free night on the boundless card? Did it affect that free night certificate? When did you get the 85k free night?
🍾 I love this card. The one draw back is having to call in to get the credit applied and the fact that certificate only covers basic rooms. I switched to this card 2 years ago after watching your videos
I've upgraded twice so far. You have to call for the upgrade. They seem to usually expect to do so from scratch, but I managed to point them to the existing reservation I had booked online; this may be useful considering places like Jakarta and Beijing host multiple RC properties.
Out of the 5 Marriott cards I have 2 are Ritz-C, I never understand why more people didn't have this card. I will try to get another one in the future as it's my go-to for seat upgrades using it's $300 travel credit. Whaaaat $650 for the Ritz, no bro, I am not going to be able to rationalize that, I will be downgrading my Brilliance unless I get a break on the af.
Great video! I product changed to this card about a year ago and added my spouse as an authorized user. My spouse loves that it comes with its own priority pass membership with unlimited guests. This almost convinced my spouse to join me in the credit card hobby!
since Chase don't provide hotel status to AU, can the principal card holder make the hotel reservation & include the name of the AU & only the AU will check in to Marriott & still receive the Gold status?
Good afternoon! I have a Boundless, have for a year and a half now. Would you recommend waiting uptill after my next anniversary date to call and try to make the change, or do it now? Do you know if I’ll get the free night still after upgrading in the “middle of a year”? Thank you so much for all of this info!
I had this card for years. Back when the card weighed a pound. I dropped it when Marriott only gave card holder Gold Status. Even after spending 60K a year, for years. I switched to AMEX PL.
Are you allowed to apply for the chase Bonvoy cards if you have the Amex ones? I really want this card but idk if the Amex cards disqualify me from never having it
Just like the brilliant, if they increase the AF to $650 this card won't make sense for a lot of people. I typically stay in more expensive rooms because they're free with certificates and points. But I'm not a person who readily spends in the $300 range when booking hotels with cash. It's just a waste to me. So I'd be spending money that I wouldn't normally spend just to get a "free" night.
Been having the Marriott Bonvoy the no annual fee one for 10 months with 7.3k limit but I got the unlimited and flex so can move the limit around, really thinking of product changing in 2 months
My friend was listening along and she said “This guy speaks fast like he’s super caffeinated” I replied with he was or is partnered with a coffee brand 😅🥂
🥂 Another great video! I PC'd from my Marriott Premier to the RC about 3 months ago and my MLA benefits remained intact. Two other details worth highlighting: the Priority Pass bennies include unlimited guests, whereas most cards cap at you + 2 guests. Applies to AU's as well. Also the $300 credit resets on calendar year. Now I need to figure out how to optimize my $300 credit, probably worth digging through FT Forums to see the DP's. Thanks Sebby!
for American, United, and Southwest (possibly Delta) you can upgrade a flight and refund for credit, effectively getting $300 worth of flights each year. I'm in California so I'm all in for Southwest. Already got my $300 flight credit the first month of owning the card
I've been eyeing this one for a few years. I guess I'll go ahead and do the upgrade later this year. My partner really likes staying at the Ritz, so I suppose that anniversary night will come in handy.

I have Sapphire Reserve and Boundless now. Should I product change to Ritz card and get rid of Reserve? I'm very tempted but don't like no more ultimate rewards points that can do much more than the Marriott points. What's your opinion? Thank you.
Unless they add platinum status i hope the fee doesn’t increase as i will probably add the brilliant to get this. Currently in process to product change for ritz

This might be the only route to a Marriott card I would take. The benefits are great but I have a ton of overlap and don't travel enough yet to cut down on the annual fee. I even spoke to a friend who agreed that the Bonvoy program isn't the greatest and that Hilton has a better program. For me, I love the service I get from Hyatt, so I will maintain my status and loyalty as much as possible. Thanks Sebby, looked for you at the LAX Delta SkyClub yesterday!! Agree it is a club that is "off the hook"!!
I had the Boundless and just PC to the RC card. If in another 12 months, if I still held the RC card, would I be eligible for the Boundless SUB again? since that would be 24 months part from my last SUB.
🥂🍸🥃 The Ritz-Carlton card has definitely been on my list for almost exactly 1 year now! Added a reminder to do the product change. Sadly though, since the new restrictions that Chase/Amex (really it's Bonvoy) put on new cardholders, getting any second Bonvoy card before 24 months have passed since getting the first one means you forfeit the intro bonus. Not to mention, product changing to the Ritz card completely eliminates the chance of an intro bonus from the Amex Bonvoy cards. One thing I'm curious to see, and I hope some data points will come to light, is if the 25 elite nights can be combined with those from the Chase Bonvoy cards? As I understand it, elite nights from Personal Bonvoy cards don't stack up 😑 Thanks for all the reviews by the way! Very Informative 🙏
Wow, i didn’t know about the 24 month bonus thing with Amex/Chase. I had planned on getting a chase bonvoy and Amex bonvoy this year. I guess I’ll do chase this year, pc to ritz next year and then the year after get an Amex bonvoy. Thx.
@@amandamuzyka3704 if you get the bonus from chase boundless and pc to Ritz, you keep the bonus. If you open another Bonvoy card within that 24 months you won't get the bonus.

👍 I might get this card.I opened 7 cards this year mostly from AMEX, I may have to wait a few months to a year.I preferred Ritz Carlton than Brilliant.
🥂 Thanks for this information! I’m debating to product change my boundless card to this Ritz card and downgrade my reserve card to something else. Thoughts on that? Also thoughts on the Capital One Venture X card. These 3 cards I’m trying to decide what the best combination would be and what to get/upgrade/downgrade. Advice/thoughts welcome. Thanks.
I ended up getting the Ritz. Downgraded the Reserve to the Flex. At that time I got the Venture X as it pays for itself and recently got the Chase Sapphire and got the 80k bonus on that since I don’t hold the Reserve anymore. The Ritz also pays for itself so getting value across the board at this time.
@@MrDIJEN15 Ritz gives the same priority pass as the Reserve - and can add unlimited auth users and they all get their own priority pass too. Don't do the venture x priority as that doesn't include restaurants.
Since you said it, Sebby, thank you for staying a "credit cards channel" and not turning into a "stimulus channel," then a "crypto channel," then back to part time "credit cards channel."
So I called in to use my 85k certificate plus top off for Kyoto Ritz Carlton only to be told that I will get the on my next anniversary certificate. They updated this on Sept 22 and my anniversary night was Sept 20. All information from them made this seem as if we got a AUTOMATIC certification upgrade. Not true
Great vide on on Ritz .... was unaware of benefits Am I eligible for Boundless Chase $95 Welcome offer later on - say 90 days - If I product change my current Bold to Ritz today .... (My Bold Welcome offer was more than 2 years ago) - The reason I want to product change to Ritz now is the AU to my kids going to need during traveling (Lounge) & later on apply for Boundless - not in a hurry
So, my Chase Bonvoy Boundless is going to be 1 year old in early November. If I product switch to this one after the 12 month mark, I'll be on the hook for the annual fee right away and the annual fee for the BB will be refunded, but what happens to the free night certificate? Am I going to get 1x 35k or 1x 85k, neither or both?
If the Chase i know you are talking about the Chase Ritz- Carlton Card but if the annual fee goes up to $650 it would be just as expensive as the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card and it only comes with Priority Pass Select i believe they both should have Priority Pass
I regret getting this card now. It’s kind of pointless for the perks I can’t use. For example, the club lounge upgrade, you have to call RC and ask. When you do, the quoted price is much higher than the price quoted with club lounge. I will be a fool to book on the phone when I can just pay lower price on the app. It’s a coupon card without any convenience.
🥂Sebby, I'm trying to figure out my next card. I ruined my credit in my early 20s, but fixed it a long time ago. My use situation is unique. US citizen, valid US domicile, but I live in Tokyo. I have my original Capital One Quicksilver one I basically never use (but it was the card that fixed my credit) and my Chase Sapphire Preferred that I've had for several years now. I will get Delta Silver status next year. I now work for a certain large international organization and have started doing business trips. I've traveled to the US twice and Europe once this year. Next year looks to be even more. Figuring out my next card is difficult. Delta Amex? Venture X? Maybe one of these Bonvoy cards? I am not sure what the pathway is. I'm technically a kind of public servant, so I think the business cards are out.
Hey Sebby, the Ritz used to have unlimited priority pass guests. Is that still true? It is unclear due to the verbiage on the app which refers to the sapphire reserve not the Ritz card. To clarify, I am referring to not adding AUs to do so.
As great as these changes are, highlighting the product change loophole seems like a recipe to get it closed, even if it won’t affect folks who already have it.
Yeah that Presidential Card was Continental’s premier card. They regularly try to make you PC to the Explorer card too. United had to keep it per the merger agreement, kinda like how US Airways had to honor that ‘80s American unlimited flight pass for some years on their metal.
🥂 This summer in Europe my children & their spouses loved being AU on my RC so they could hang out at nice lounges during delays and rebookings on their cheap airline tickets.
🥂 Great vid as always. For me I’d rather just have the Bonvoy Brilliant than this (or both). I feel like having two Brilliant cards (for the certificates) is easier to justify given the dining vs airline credit.
I would consider this card, if they gives us Platinum, instead of Gold. That would pretty much match the Hilton Aspire with the same 450 AF. Priority Pass, TSA, airline credit, hotel credit…the Aspire still has the 250 Hilton credit and SUB, which this card does not have.

Thanks.
What did you decide. Same boat.
@@rk39421 which card do you use the priority pass?
@@MrDIJEN15 Ritz gives the same priority pass as the Reserve - and can add unlimited auth users and they all get their own priority pass too. Don't do the venture x priority as that doesn't include restaurants.
Since you said it, Sebby, thank you for staying a "credit cards channel" and not turning into a "stimulus channel," then a "crypto channel," then back to part time "credit cards channel."
🥂 Hope they upgrade the Ritz to match all the new Brilliant benefits. Would prefer to have Visa when traveling internationally
Even without Platinum status, the RC is still a very strong card overall.
Not true
Great vide on on Ritz .... was unaware of benefits
Am I eligible for Boundless Chase $95 Welcome offer later on - say 90 days - If I product change my current Bold to Ritz today .... (My Bold Welcome offer was more than 2 years ago) - The reason I want to product change to Ritz now is the AU to my kids going to need during traveling (Lounge) & later on apply for Boundless - not in a hurry
I think the Aspire card is still the best hotel keeper card
4:00 It looked you had a stalker in the background, but it's your reflection
👀
🥂 Where is Mandy?
Only thing I hope if the fee goes up, it should come with a upgrade to Marriott platinum status.
Would just need the status on the ritz card to be better and it'd be perfect
So, my Chase Bonvoy Boundless is going to be 1 year old in early November. If I product switch to this one after the 12 month mark, I'll be on the hook for the annual fee right away and the annual fee for the BB will be refunded, but what happens to the free night certificate? Am I going to get 1x 35k or 1x 85k, neither or both?
If the Chase i know you are talking about the Chase Ritz- Carlton Card but if the annual fee goes up to $650 it would be just as expensive as the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card and it only comes with Priority Pass Select i believe they both should have Priority Pass
aww man I need a Chase Bonvoy to product change? Maybe it’s time to open a Chase
As great as these changes are, highlighting the product change loophole seems like a recipe to get it closed, even if it won’t affect folks who already have it.
thx sebby for all the great videos. if you product change to the ritz carlton card do you get the free night straight away?
ok. seems not. have to wait a year
Yeah that Presidential Card was Continental’s premier card. They regularly try to make you PC to the Explorer card too. United had to keep it per the merger agreement, kinda like how US Airways had to honor that ‘80s American unlimited flight pass for some years on their metal.
🥂 This summer in Europe my children & their spouses loved being AU on my RC so they could hang out at nice lounges during delays and rebookings on their cheap airline tickets.
you have good videos. 🥂 The beginning is a bit strange. Can you edit that out (where you're finishing another conversation)?
It’s a cold open/ intro to get people interested in a topic. Common format on RUclips.
🍸I was thinking about product changing over to this from the Boundless, like the 35k certs aren't what they used to be.
I want it but I'm locked out on 5/24.
But i need to know. Will the card be METAL?!
I’ve kept it all along so I’m glad to see it getting some love.
🍻 Another great video Seb. Have you done a video of how to use the Hilton Aspire free night? If not , can you make one please? TIA...3 thumbs up
Another great video on a topic that many would dismiss (because of their opinion on the Bonvoy program). Cheers to you Sebby! 🥳🥂🍷🥃🍾🍻
Can you also gift tsa pre-check with VX? 🥂
