Love the platinum card and been a member for almost 40 years. Always excellent and professional customer service when needed. Yes, the annual fees are a bit on the high side but unless something dramatically changes, will be a loyal customer until I’m six feet under.
for delta flight credit, i usually book the cheapest flight in a day (usually super early AM) and then call to modify to a more convenient flight. Pay the flight difference, but that difference has been credited every time I've used it and it's usually
It also works on tickets but you have to split payment with a gift card and the charge from Delta cannot be greater than $250. FT has a nice thread on it.
First thing I learned on Reddit was to redeem the Saks credit for gift cards until you get to the dollar amount you want to buy something that’s actually meaningful to you. Second thing is to add your priority pass card to your Apple wallet .
I have the Priority Pass, use the Delta Sky Lounge and the Centurion Lounge. I also use the digital streaming benefit of $20 per month. It pays for most of my Hulu and Disney+ bundle. I have used the fine hotel benefit, that one too is a good one. Often American Express will have cash back offers on certain items. Good if you were going to buy it anyway or it’s something you could use. Besides the airline multiplier those are the main benefits I use.
🦁 1) Love AMEX platinum 2)Favorite perk: charge $75K and get unlimited centurion lounge access for the year + 2 guests) and AMEX points 3) For some reason esp. Singapore business treated you with a whole different type of respect, much like you said Sebby they just seem to care more about
Yeah. Even besides the SUB, some of the biggest credits (airline incidental, THC/FHR, Clear Plus) are calendar year based, so you get two years worth of credits with your first AF, but only one thereafter. Really easy to justify $695 once for 150k amex points, $400 Southwest credit, $200 Uber, $240 streaming. Even if I don't care about the other credits, I still get a heap of points plus a slight discount on purchases I'd make anyways. But a second year? I'd rather grab Venture X or CSR.
Hey seb ! I have been watching your channel for about five years now, and you have literally changed my life in terms of how much I am able to travel and I am currently building my own RUclips channel on traveling! So I just want to say thank you. I just wanted to give some people a pointer as it pertains to the airline fee credit. I have been redeeming points on Delta and using my platinum card to pay the fee when booking with points. So for instance, I am flying to Thailand from Los Angeles in about five days on points. I booked the flight very early on and I kept on finding better prices (with points) as time went by so I continued to cancel my flight and rebook. Long story short, that fee triggers the credit 100% of the time. And you could technically do this, without even needeing to book a flight. Because when you cancel the flight, Delta reimburses you the fee, but the platinum card doesn’t have a way to draw back that credit that was already used.
You forgot to mention about Walmart+ partnership with Burger King. They just recently added an offer for free whopper. Nice perk for having Amex platinum.
Thx for noting. The interesting thing about Walmart + is you have to check the app periodically as Walmart “stealthily” adds value that isn’t heavily promoted.
I just got a business platinum because they offered 250k points with 15k spend. Could you please do a video on the different benefits between the business and regular platinum? Thanks.
🦁I have the Plat again this year after receiving.a targeted offer - I use the Uber credit to pick up Panera once a month- usually helps when time is in short supply. I use the Walmart Plus more for the scan and go - like the faster check out and ability to use Walmart Cash. Airport Credit pays for a family of 4 checked bags - it used to go further but it's still nice.
🦁 thank you Sebby! Great video as always! I love my Amex Plat! The $200 travel credit is my fave and was SO easy when I booked my Pan Pacific hotel in Vancouver BC through FHR shortly after getting my Plat. Love and use the monthly Uber credit; love the Centurion lounge access (Seattle for me). Love the Priority pass and have used it in PDX and Vancouver. My sister is my additional card and her fave perk is also lounge access.
The Walmart+ is awesome. -¢10 per gallon on gas -Paramount Plus streaming complimentary -25% of Burger King everyday (thru app) +free Whopper per quarter.
🦁I love the content and greatly appreciate the insight and guidance!!! Viewing your content helps enhance my AMEX Platinum card experience! Keep up the great work. 🤙🏽
With all the “coupons” plus my estimated value of all the lounges I visit in a year, I think I get about $1000/year worth of value, at least. So for me it’s a great card. Also they just gave me a 6.99% interest offer for the next year. Why would I use that? To defer taking any more taxable retirement distributions until next year.
Sebby I love your content man, I'm interested in this card but I'm curious if I can apply for it internationally? So instead of applying for the U.S. version, the application would be in another country where I hold citizenship. Do you know if this could work? Thanks!
🦁 Love my Platinum benefits. I have companion cards for my family so we’re all able to lounge it up together. I also max out the airline credit each year and, like you, Disney Plus is covered.
🦁When figuring in depreciation for smart phones, is it worth the $200-$250 per phone if you're on a family plan and covered by Amex when you pay your bill? I no longer pay the Apple Care and just use the Amex Platinum insurance, but then I have multiple phones on my bill. 😱
I like the Platinum for lounge access, Uber (Eats) Credit, Phone and travel insurance, Walmart + (for 10 cents off gas), and Hilton status. I have not been able to use the Flight credit on AA since I have status with them. Sadly I may cancel at the next renewal because I am not getting positive expected value and have been traveling much this year and who knows for 2025.
🙏 always appreciate the timestamps and links. I hope they will have the Dodgers-Mets Tokyo game on offer. We’re going back to Hanazono in March. We will have more Ohtani gear for Chef Ricky haha
🦁 I only have the Platinum card because I was offered an upgrade bonus from my Gold and I happen to be 5/24 at the time. I’m using the digital entertainment credits, Walmart + (but only to get Paramount +), and Uber credits (or rather my college daughter is). I’m still trying to find a way to use the hotel and airline credits. The bonus alone was worth the fee. I used the 124k points to book 6 flights to/from Europe at Christmas time, easily would have been several thousands of dollars in cash. I don’t plan on keeping the card after a year. I have a Venture X that gives me enough lounge access for much less (actually free when I use the travel credit and anniversary points). I also have AMEX business cards and am an AU on P2’s AMEX Gold for the 4x grocery and dining points.
I love the platinum card but its definitely not for everyone. I always say if you travel at least 4 times a year you can get all the benefits from it. The biggest benefit by far has to be the lounge access. As someone who travels frequently, never stressing with layovers, or getting to an airport early has been great. I personally use the airline incidental for lounges at airports that don't have an Amex or Priority Pass Lounge and its been great so far.
🦁 Uber, Saks, lounges, fine hotels. Will definitely be checking out a few more including digital entertainment. I added Bonvoy, but forgot to add Hilton.
Hi Sebby, could you compare this with the Business Platinum? I have a 175k SUB for a regular Platinum card - it’s the most I’ve seen but I’m in no rush to get it so I haven’t applied. I’m curious how it compares to the business platinum. Thanks again
Southwest is super easy to do, for me it always triggers as long as it's under $100. You'd simply find a short segment, that's under $100, wait 24 hrs, the cancel the flight. Now you have a rapid rewards credit that never expires 😎
🦁 This video was perfect timing as I literally got 2 Amex Platinum cards last night! I had a upgrade offer for my gold card to the platinum for 125k MR points after $6k in 6 months, then I found the 175k MR points welcome bonus for the Platinum via incognito on the desktop (safari private browsing, I had to try multiple times to finally get the 175k offer). So I got the approval for the new Plat card then immediately accepted the upgrade offer for my gold, and ended up with 2 brand new Plat cards for a whooping 300k combined SUB! Now a question for you or anyone that have had 2 Plats at the same time: how should I optimally take advantage of double the credits? Like FHR, airline credit, etc. And does this mean I can get 2 priority lunge membership cards? Please let me know
Man, that sounds like a lot of work to get a couple hundred dollars in value. Their target audience would make that in 2-3 hours. And the Uber credits would be a lot better as statement credits for work travelers.
Daddy Sebby to the rescue 🦁 I don’t have the card and have been very cheap in getting it. However this is by far the best video I have seen with the benefits broken down. My current wallet is Chase Sapphire Preferred, American Airlines Advantage Platinum Card, Delta Amex blue(downgraded from Delta Platinum as I am no longer near a delta hub)
@stevedice5963 are you replying to me? I have multiple travel cards for certain reasons because I travel alot. And have multiple hubs in the DC area I use.
Exactly! When my HomePod failed ($300 version), was a very simple process to replace it. Submitted my original receipt, receipt for the replacement, and I immediately had my account credited for the cost I paid to replace it. No arguments or hassle.

🦁here is your emoji :) question to make sure I got this... if I were to get platinum but my wife just got the companion card, that would mean only one of us gets most of the benefits like access to lounge, etc?
@AskSebby I was under the impression that you would only get one TSA precheck credit that can be used by either the primary card holder or the companion card holder.
Sebby! You didn't mention the free Paramount+ membership through the Walmart+ account. That's one of the main reasons I still have the Walmart+ account. I see others mentioned it too. Maybe they don't offer it anymore?
I used to order Sak Fifth Ave via online to get the credits; but now I usually go there twice a year to purchase a $55 Sak Fifth gift card to give it to my wife to shop for clearance items at Sak Fifth Off. Spending AMEX Plat at Sak Fifth Off or Outlet stores won't trigger the credit...But buying gift card at Sak Fifth does. Hope this can help you using the credit better.
The AMEX Offers have been the unexpected value for me. I had no intention on getting value from it, but in the last 7 months, I've found $370 in credits for things I was already planning to purchase.

What do you mean by Favorite perk: charge $75K ?? you need to pay ?
I flight out ATL probably 20x a year. Amex platinum all the way baabee 😂
For my airline credit I have bought UA Travel Certificates. I do $100 and then wait a few days and do another $100.
Yo, that works? Nice.
Upgraded from Gold a while back. Priority Pass, Uber, Walmart+ and Clear Plus have made it already worth it
🦁walmart plus also gets ya 10 cents of a gallon at exxon and mobil gas stations.
First thing you should do: make a note in your calendar to cancel in 1 year 😀
They charge you right away
yes it's not worth in in the second year
Or learn how to TRULY play the game and squeeze all value out of plus the sub and then after year 1 get you a nice juicy retention 🤷🏽♂️👌
Yeah.
