Thank you I just got 2 rsty mags . I would never put in my pistol as is. They have been on a shelf in a moderate to heavy humidity part of the country for atheist 10yrs
If the bottom of the magazine is permanently welded on or connected then it has to come out the top. No other solution unless the maker overlooked the need to clean the magazine and did the unthinkable. Sorry you are having troubles. I've not found a magazine yet that did not disassemble. If it's a factory original, I'd contact Colt or the maker. All the best!
Mine seem to be welded on. Other gun magazines I have where the bottom is designed to come off, I find that they slide on from the front or the back. Not sure what you have there Clarence.
@@tomdgunnery8360 it slides back on but it has to have the button click back into the hole and I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it back. It's a rock island 1911. I've tried to look for other videos and I can't find anyone who seems to have the sliding one, everyone has the welded on one shown here. I will just have them help me at the range, thanks anyway.
Great video for those of us new to 1911s. Thank you!
Thanks! It was new to me not that long ago as well.
This is the typical procedure for most all fixed base pistol magazines, not only 1911s.

Very helpful! thank you!
You do it the hard way.
Yo. They look like nice heavy duty springs. What brand are they? Thanks
These came in this original Colt magazine. As far as I know they have not been changed out.
Alleluja, nie miałem pojęcia jak to zrobić 🤦🏻♂️
If it's 9mm, follower definitely doesn't come right out, at keast not on any of my mags. Not sure what to do.

Didn't help for me, the bottom part does slide off and I can't figure out how to get it back on.
