    Just gonna put this out there:
    - While a character is in dialogue prior to combat, you can buff them without the timers expiring. Buffs and Debuffs are literally the strongest things in this game and shouldn't be ignored.
    - *Loremaster* is pointless since certain shopkeepers in each act will identify for you really cheap. Additionally, the most important info, elemental weakness, is revealed with only a single point, so simply bring an elf or something. *Bartering* is essential in 4 man parties and should be on your persuasion character. *Sneaking* is nice, but unnecessary, it's good to put this on your backstabber/archer/summoner. *Telekinesis* can be used in unique ways, but is ultimately pointless if you don't abuse smashing things with a heavy chest. *Persuasion* should be put on your party leader or whoever has pet pal. Not only are some unique skills locked behind persuasion, but it is constantly a benefit by allowing you to avoid nasty situations or complete missions with the best possible experience gain and reward. *Thievery* is essential, make sure you have at least 2 points on a character early on in Act 1 to open locked chests. Pickpocketing is also incredibly powerful in Act 1 and is arguably a much better investment than Bartering before you get access to the mirror. Finally, *Lucky Charm* is the creme de la creme of civil skills and it can't be understated how powerful it is. This one skill gives so much money and so many good items that you will probably never have to buy armor or weapons for the entire game.
    - When pickpocketing, it is entirely possible to still get in trouble even if you don't have the item in your inventory or are linked to a character with it in their inventory. It's best to simply time your pickpocketing targets so that you have something else to do in another area while they are searching for you.
    - Barrels weigh a lot, but you can just pile one of each type that you find in an act at your main hub waypoint. This way you can readily have easy access to oil, poison and water for crafting. This can be essential for special arrow crafting and making powerful food, but poison for potions/food on undead characters is easily replaced with a Zaikk's Talon, which is a guaranteed act 1 drop.
    - You should have 2 Aerotheuge on every character anyway to pick up Uncanny Evasion, so Teleport and Aetherswap are easy additions as well. Also, investing in Huntsman for ranged/caster characters or Scoundrel for melee characters is great for picking up *Tactical Retreat/Cloak and Dagger* respectively. All of the teleportation skills in this game are brutally strong, but those two in particular are the best of the best. Even on a melee character, taking two points in huntsman just for Tactical retreat can be worth it.
    - Once you reach Act 2, you get access to four different teleporter pyramids. These can essentially break your game since if you drop a single pyramid in a "safe zone" such as the center of town you can use the one on your person to teleport to it. This can be done in battle surrounded by enemies for less AP than it takes to run and flee. Using it correctly to manipulate turns, you can essentially take your turn forever and eventually whittle down any non-event bosses' hp.
    - I highly recommend not using Fane or playing undead if you're new to the game. There are very few benefits to doing so. While they technically fight an easier final fight if you do their unique path at the ending, there are a LOT of instances where it becomes inconvenient and creates problems for no reason. Notably, there is a point in Act 2 where they blindfold you during the arena fight, and if you don't break the rules, then when you finish the fight it won't re-equip your helm, causing everyone in the arena to be hostile to you and breaking the quest. Poison heal just makes you prone to blowing up from fire and free lockpicks doesn't really matter when a 2 gold nail can be hammered into 4 lockpicks each.
    - The strongest surfaces in the game are probably a tie between oil (since it causes slow even through magic armor as well as explodes) and cursed ice (the freeze is very consistent, slows characters while on the surface and once again goes through magic armor).
    - While most playthroughs won't have access to curse normally, you can get a scroll of it as soon as early Act 2 by combining a sheet of paper, a high tormented soul, and a void tainted fish. *This is the best use of your high tormented souls* and besides using void tainted crimson bream for upgrading your ferocity herbmix, you can go ham with your other void tainted fish.

      Pls how do I hide in a barrel if i want to pocket picking? How do i hide

    • @CamperCarl00
      @CamperCarl00 2 года назад

      @@ookam9685 If you're playing PC, it's either C or whatever key you've bound it to. If it's on PS4 then it's down on the D-Pad.
      Additionally, in order to effectively sneak without having points in it, you have to be out of the line of sight of any npcs regardless of whether or not they are hostile. Keep in mind, not every person is a good target to pickpocket, and if you want to properly clean someone out you're going to have to have another character who isn't linked up with the pickpocketing character talking to your mark. You also need to have at least one level in thievery I believe in order to actually pickpocket someone.
      Additionally, you shouldn't actually put points into sneaking. Not only is it wholly unnecessary, but the effect is incredibly minimal compared to putting it in Thievery, Lucky Charm, or Persuasion.

    • @ookam9685
      @ookam9685 2 года назад

      @@CamperCarl00 thank you so much for the reply I did not expect it cuz this is an old comment
      I will try to do it and yeah I have like 2 points on thievery so I would be able to do it
      I'm playing with friends and we all are new to this game so its crazy to see that there are so many things in this game tho I wish my friends would stop killing people
      I feel like its a bad thing but idk

    • @CamperCarl00
      @CamperCarl00 2 года назад

      @@ookam9685 Technically killing people isn't completely game breaking (most of the time), but you typically want to save before trying to pickpocket and reload if you get caught. Getting yourselves into jams is all part of the fun of the game, though XD.

    Gonna double post here but i wanted to tell you about a huge tip that helped me. If you hit escape, one of the options is "formation." There you can customize how your team runs around, including proximity and location to who have selected, and which character specifically stands where. Best way to make sure archers and mages arent hanging out on the front lines.

    • @rpgdivision

      I know about that mate.
      Honestly never noticed the difference no matter what ive chosen as formation.
      I might be wrong though.

    • @GiblixStudio
      @GiblixStudio 6 лет назад +9

      its more a novelty and doesn't really serve a purpose. :)
      In the more d ifficult fights you often have 1 guy initiate conversation. then the other 3 are unchained and move around to beneficially tactical position. And/or move barrels around to your advantage before getting into position. So then everyone is out of formation anyway to land those critical initial hits.

    • @templarmedic8833

    Do also note that Loremaster, while vital to identifying items, can be done at many merchant NPCs in their Barter menu. For Mouse/Keyboard interface, an identification glass should be at the bottom right of the window. I believe this costs a bit of gold, but it can free up a full allocation of a given Civil school, which are extremely valuable and more difficult to obtain than Attributes and Skill schools.

    not sure if these tips have been listed somewhere, but here are a few from me:
    Thievery:
    +2 gloves can be found / stolen in ACT 2, really early in the game (dwarf girl standing below the magister barracks demanding 250g from you)
    +1 chest as well, from the dwarf guarding the way to Lohar in Driftwood
    Get 2 characters with thievery... its always good to rob some NPCs/Traders in the late game... they will have way better items and much more gold
    Do not pickpocket traders early in the game.. wait until they have the necessary skillbooks for you.. in the Act 1 at least lvl 4
    get the Smoke cover (combine aerotheurgy + scoundrel skillbooks) for your thievery character - u can use it when stealing from the public traders and quicly steal their money, or some items... without being detected... carefull, you only have a very small amount of time until this effect wears of, so you really have to be quick and grab what you want from the pocket... I used it mostly for the money.
    +1 ring can be acquired in the later part of the game... so you can reach Thievery 10, not sure if there are any better items with +thievery
    Bartering:
    + get 1 character and max out bartering with him....
    Go to your favorite trader and give him about 1000 + 1500 gold for free... as a gift... this will increase his attitude towards you to about 100 and change the prices to your advantage.
    Assassin / Scoundrel based builds, but actually any builds which use Adrenaline skill:
    You can get new skills through the special talent from elves if you consume some body parts. Very very early in the game, on the 1st boat, you can get the Adrenaline skill this way. So when you are chosing the starting talents for your Rogue... and its an elf... do no chose Adrenaline, you will get it by consuming a body part on the boat, so you will have one additional talent already on the starting boat.
    Pyromancer / Fire based builds:
    middle to late game, you can find an armor with immunity for burning / warm... together with high fire resist, this is a must for your firemage... you can do insane amounts of AOE damage standing in fire - having elemental affinity... without being even touched by the fire...
    Teleport / mobility skills:
    Get at least one or two of these for every possible build you can imagine... works wonders in all situations.
    - tactical retreat from the huntsman tree
    - dagger and cloak from the scoundrel tree
    - wings from the polymorph tree (have to get polymorph to 2)
    - phoenix dive - warfare tree
    - blitz attack - warfare tree
    - teleport - aerotheurge tree (not usable on yourself but on others) + there is another spell here for swapping positions of two characters.. very usefull as well
    These skills work wonders not only in combat but for quests, finding treasures and so on.. a must for every class.
    Teleporter pyramids:
    mid game, you will have 4 of these, 1 for each of your characters
    when exploring, going to location which are hardly accessible, use just one character which has one of the pyramids... when hes at the place you would like to have you whole party, just switch to another party member, use its pyramid to teleport the whole party to the 1st character... saves a lot of time

      Great post.
      Also, with my friend, the Pet Pal talent has granted me (and him) so much fun.
      It's horribly sad sometimes (to the point a dog made me feel like crying lol) and other times absolutely hilarious (the chickens, my god)
      Brings so much to the game. I can absolutely recommend forgoing a min-max skill for this "useless" (sometimes it grants otherwise unattainable xp, or hints and help, etc.) talent, particularly if you like substance in games.
      -Casting rain on chilled targets does the same as casting frost spells on wet targets. Etc. etc. (same for electricity and blood pools, rain can also spread effects, link them up, or spread poison to trigger explosions due to nearby fire)
      -Fish bones, any gems, and ink and quill are useless. _Ink and Quill_ though, is not.... (you can't combine pot & pen to get the new ingredient)
      -Shells can make makeshift staffs with long stick but are otherwise useless & just flavour, and remember you need long sticks for arrows too (probably).
      -Stoves are hard to come by (only played until act4 meticolously so far).
      -With shears (and Pet Pal) you can ask sheep for wool, apparently. Wool is used for yarn (and by extension rope, fuses and grenades).
      -Never sell honey or perfume bottles you find. Neither grenade casings or empty canisters.
      -Intestines _will_ be useful if you get some canisters, may be less useful after act 3 begins.
      -Milk is gathered with cups (!) from milk churns and it permanently removes the churns from existence (...). Milk is for improving food.
      -Well rested is, with some exceptions, the best buff to start a combat with. Food/pots is more for the initial round of actual combat or if low HP...
      -Remember to troll others in multiplayer by giving them random heavy loot (like 150kg pictures)
      -

    havent watched this, but here are my top 2 tips for tough fights. 1. Separate the enemy. A few ways to do this. Using a doorway if possible, the CPU will have no choice but to go through one at a time, you wait around the other side and pile on them as they come single file (3 trolls and the Doctor fight in Arx). If no door, initiate combat with your highest wits character, place all others some distance away. When combat starts, teleport using the pyramids away. The enemy will need 2-3 round to reach you, while you can buff up and fire range weapons (Karon battle, Kraken by the docks). 2. Charm and knockdown arrows. Before battle identify who has least magic armor. Focus everyone on that one guy and get his magic armor gone. Shoot a charm arrow. The enemy is now fighting for you, this one thing can win a tough battle. (PS. knockdown arrows for the reverse on armor, high magic/low physical).

    tip 17: you can combine skillbooks of different elements/schools to create new spells, e.g. Water+ Scoundrel = Vampiric hunger (50% life steel for 2turns, great for unded character!) If you want upgrated version of new spell you need to combine normal spellbook (e.g.
    Rain) with glowing spellbook (the one with spell source point requirements e.g Fan of Knifes) and now you have Vampiric Hunger Aura around you.

    If you use the pyramid of your main character to go to another the rest of your group will be teleport with your main as long as they are next to him.

    another good vid man. Id recommend keeping someone with a higher level of loremaster equipped at all times though, especially for newer players. Loremaster isnt just for identifying but also for when you "Examine" a character. The more points in loremaster means more info about that enemy or whoever is revealed (weaknesses, resistances, chance to hit you, etc.).

    I often read comments about exploits and cheesing being game breaking...
    While I know about the minimap quick travel, I and my fellow players never use it. A friend of mine use it a lot. We both have a lot of pleasure from the game.
    I would never rob a poor farmer family who is at home in their house. If the house is vacated, I loot everything.
    I don't use thievery as my main form of income. I only steal from magisters.
    But I could, if I wanted to. That is true RPG for me. The options to do stuff, and the player morals, or lack of, to shape your game experience.
    It's brilliant. If you don't like a way to "cheat"... Don't.

    saw this game about a week ago and i cant stop reasercihng about it, its SO HUGE, and so cool, and by far with allll the begginer tips i saw, this is the best, literly made me feel like i know SOMETHING insted of more questions to rise up, and introduced me to diffrent mechanics in the game, u gave examples, u made things were clear with the viewers, that is a perfect guide, MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER THEN Fextralife.... will come back to this once i have the game
    cant wait to be an elf necromanzer!!!!

    While constantly respecing your civil skills for particular situations seems a good idea. is it really worth the bother? I'd say it's worth it if you're playing Lone Wolf, but if you have 4 characters that can each have dedicated skills, doesn't it make more sense just to specialize each character for specific tasks?

    Great video, snarky attitude, lovely accent, clear and to the point, even if some things are outdated and details were missed. (Like loremaster allows you to examine enemies, but maybe this was a definitive edition addition?)

    Barrels are not always infinite - it depends on the crafting recipe. For me when I craft a small flame rune from: oil barrel + pixie dust + wood, then the wood and the oil barrel gets consumed but the pixie dust is infinite. I think this is a bug, but it helped me early in the game where pixie dust is much more scarce than oil barrels.

    You should consider using footage from earlier in the game, considering this is a video "for beginners". Just finished Act 1 and saw this vid in my feed, only to be greeted with footage of an area with a large broken ship behind the characters and the waypoint name of The Lady Vengeance. Feels like a pretty significant spoiler, and you should try to avoid having it in a video that's made to cater towards players who are still early in the game.

    • @joelwerre
      @joelwerre 6 лет назад +19

      a rather pointless critique considering all the videos this guy has made that has made the game so much more enjoyable. 2) if you are so worried about spoilers why watch RUclips videos on games you haven't finished?

    • @tobiasdragon2003
      @tobiasdragon2003 6 лет назад +5

      I agree that all of the posters videos are helpful as this is where I get most of my information but I think there is some merit to the beginner thing. The video is targeted to a beginner, not someone who has already beat the game. I'm sure someone who spent all the hours necessary to complete the game could still benefit from some of these tips, but that is clearly not the target audience for this video.

    • @rpgdivision
      @rpgdivision  6 лет назад +31

      Apologies, never even occurred to me that could be spoiler at the time of recording.

    • @PKQuix
      @PKQuix 6 лет назад +4

      No worries, I just wanted to point it out. That way you can keep it in mind for future reference if you're making more beginner oriented videos.

    • @tommurphy5425
      @tommurphy5425 6 лет назад +1

      Honestly the spoiler isn't really all that much. Oh, there's a boat called Lady Vengeance. Game is ruined for us now? Having said that, I'm a bit worried about that respec mirror. I didn't know that was a thing but it seems to me like it breaks the game in that no longer are any of my choices really relevant when it comes to 'where do I put this point on my build'. Doesn't matter...change it 38 blazillion times. I think ONE use per character, that seems all right, it's when we beginners (I'm only about 10 hours in) realize all the mistakes we made, watched videos like this with tips and strategies, etc. But I can change everyone over and over and over? Huh...I don't know how I feel about that.

    (BTW, "them" is fine. You don't NEED to use "him". Them is used (Any time you like actually, but) when the subject's gender is not an issue, they don't want it mentioned, or they don't identify as a particular gender, and yes you can use it about a single person too.
    (Quite possibly someone else has mentioned this but it is too late for me to read 370 comments to check. Sorry, if you didn't need that bit of advice)

    The ground freezing is one of the best things. I had a character hit me with an ice spell while I was standing in water, froze the water, was doing pretty decent damage and was making me nervous. Then they ran in close to do melee damage and luck was just not on their side lmao because they immediately slipped and got knocked out 😂. I stabbed em a couple times while they laid there and won the fight. It was so funny

Over-the-top actions(skills) feel/look like diablo3(but turn-based). How is an opinion wrong? How does playing this, reminding me of other games i've played(see above), make me 'young'? No offense intended, but that's just a dumb remark.

Better yet, activate sorcerous sundries mod (incl in DE), and keep the xbow for the entire game... it deals about 2 levels damage above any other ranged weapon.
