AmericanTrucks Ford can you really get 35's on that truck with only a 2.5" leveling kit?
Timothy Anaya yes you can..it’s tight.
AmericanTrucks Ford, what does the leveling kit do to my towing capacity?
What kind of wheels & tires did you show briefly on the leveling kit? (Not the factory set obviously.) Those looked awesome!
AmericanTrucks Ford what is the color
1. Window tint
2. Weather tech floor mats
3. Bed seperator
4. Rhino liner
5. Truxedo Bed cover
banderson5676 thanks
Yeah but you're talking about things that are actually useful. Notice how all the things he list are for appearance? In other words he is one of those people whose gonna spend what ever it takes to impress other people with looks. LOL, I couldn't care less.
I actually prefer the rough country floor mats. 1/2 the price of weather techs
Husky liners are way better than WeatherTechs. I hated my WeatherTech mats.
I like a good tailgate pad. The Cache pad has nice seats for sitting with a buddy on the tailgate
Best mod I did was put on the shock on the tailgate so it opens slowly and doesn’t slam down! Under $40!
Yep. Just did this two weeks after I bought my stx. Makes a huge difference, especially for my wife.
The best part of these newer Ford, Chevy, or dodge trucks is just how good the aftermarket support is. Everything is bolt on, its amazing.
Yes it's amazing that people want to take your money from you and give you products.
My list:
1. Tint
2. Leveling kit
3. Exhaust
4. Weather tech mats
5. Cold air intake
Christopher Johnston this is what my list will be too :) barely on number 1
Number 1 should be NEW LUG NUTS !!! The OEM lugnuts can swell/deform and leave you stranded on the side of the road because you can't get them off to change your flat tire.
TRU DAT!
I did leveling kit, wheel well liners, husky floor mats ,med mat,and rci skidplates ,destroyed the all terrains truck came with in 3 months and tore open side wall on a rocky trail so went with 33inch bfg k02s truck towes hauls trails camps hunts and gets me out back country and back again love love this truck!
I have the 2" level from Supreme on my 2011, and it looks great, was much cheaper than the bigger name brands, and has so far held up through my daily beating on the suspension.
i have that exact tonneau cover on my 2016 f150, 4 years in still looks brand new.
Thanks for putting this together. My list would be: Exhaust, Cold Air Intake, and a tuner.
Not a bad list Mark! -Justin
In that order, if not all at once.
You guys are great...I have a 2015 3.5 Ecoboost Lariat - all of your posts are spot on...Keep up the great work...
We definitely will, Victor! Thanks for watching! -Zach
I installed a full bed rug kit in mine for a really nice mod for under 500. Window tinting and rear wheel well liners are a couple nice mods that won't break the bank either. I bought a new gator evo cover for under 500, much better than a soft cover.
Everything gets expensive very quickly!
The leveling kit is a must. My next move would be a set of mud flaps all around! Keep the road crap/mud off that new paint job!
I would lower the rear before I raised the front
1. 3M Thermal Window tinting, including clear tinting on the front and back windshields. (Trust me, you'll thank me later)
2. Weather tech mats
3. Hard cover for the bed
4. Cold air intake
5. Bully Dog programmer
I bought mine used, so it came with chromed running boards, but yeah, running boards are a must.
Awesome before and after b-roll
So should I wait to get the foot gas pedal, 8 ball shifter, naked lady mudflaps, Yosemite Sam floor mats, and massive decals on the window? LOL.
This video is assuming you've already added all that. ;) -Justin
I'm gonna do the spacers. Such a simple change to make the truck look good.
That's hysterical - love it! (You forgot a racoon tail for the antenna😃)
Cant forget the truck nuttz
Dice off the mirror
Personally I think Rear Wheel Well Liners are one of the 1st Must Haves, Huge Difference for about $150.00!
Agreed. Mine was $118 on Amazon. OEM too.
Not a bad choice either Michael- great suggestion. -Justin
I've added it to my list of items for my truck. I saw them before, but your comment reminded me to get them.
Glad to help....LOL!
I didnt know these things existed until I read your comment and googled it - wow
This is pretty cool guys. Thanks for these recommendations.
Thanks for watching! -Justin
Great videos showing before and after together.
Thanks for the kind words, David! -Zach
Window Tint.
Side steps.
Floor mats.
Bed cover.
New rims.
@magacop they are called running boards.
Have a 2018, 5.0.
Had 4 new f150s, plus 3 used
Had 2 f250s used
Had 2 f350 dump
Had 1c f450 dump
And a few GMC.
All great
My top 5+ must-haves
1. Window tint and 3M (don't get cheap stuff)
2. Upgrade factory headlights to LED ($500) (and fog lights while you at it)
3. Bed cover ($250)
4. Rear wheel well liners ($150).
5. WeatherTech or Husky floor liners ($150)
Bonus: Air filter (OEM is aweful)
Do they make any LED kits for the trucks with Daytime Running Lamps?
The MBRP for F-150 and Ranger exhaust system is easy install and sounds amazing for south of $500. I like the design compared to the other expensive options. Glad seeing this in the top 5 suggestions.
We agree! Thanks for watching!!
Hi, great suggestions. ( I must add that I am new to all this) I just bought 2018 F150, 4WD, 5.OL V8, I would like to change the tires from 275/55/20 to 285/65/20! As you know there is not enough space in the front, you talked about 2.5” leveling kit, I have two questions: 1- is that going to give me enough clearance in the front (top and the sides), 2- what a bout back? There is lots space in the back, do I need to add anything else? Thank you, Nick
So glad I went with the roll cover instead of the tri fold. Heard too many complaints about it plus it is more expensive. Gets in the way if you wanna use your box
Other things is oil separator, window tent, toolbox, floor mats, wheel well liners, programmer too sct makes a more budget friendly one with that’s not touch screen and make good power gains. And one more is mud flaps some don’t like them but I rem them on my 13 F-150 because I have wide wheels and it saves paint to munch and husky makes a kick back for lifted trucks or wonder wheels that looks good and keep from rubbing
First thing I bought: rubber floor mats, for a 2011 SCREW, front and back for about $240. After bringing the scouts back from a camp out; I'm glad I bought those. Now I need to get some seat covers. Those boys have a lot of fun getting dirty.
Thats a really good suggestion and honestly its one that I regret not putting in this video. Maybe next time we'll do an 'honorable mention' segment. Glad you're putting the truck to good use! -Justin
goombakiwi same here, i love my husky liners
Absolutely floor mats. Just ord'd front and rear rubber mats (w/F150 logo) yesterday at the Ford dealership, for the 2018 Super Crew I just bought. $117.00 before tax. Grandkids, dogs, and occasional kayak gear can take a toll on regular carpeted mats.
I love my weather techs...….also your post creeps me out a little.
So far for my 19 ranger
1. Window tinted
2. Rubber floor mats
3. Bed liner
4. Bed cover
5. Running boards/steps
6. LED lighting
So far 1-3 are finished.
I'm loving my Ranger, I have done Tints, Liner and cover, boards. How you liking your truck?
Wish I would've had the confidence to install my leveling kit myself it would've saved me a ton of money. I have power running boards from RC, which are the cats pajamas. I love them
My top 5 under $500 for a 5.0:
MBRP stainless exhaust $421
OZ tune + used tuner $450
2" Level $50 (+$60 alignment)
2018 GT intake mani (ported if possible) $300 + porting
Remote start $150
honorable mention? JLT or PMAS CAI if you feel like it.
Gotta get that JLT catch can
I always keep thinking how Ford really turned around the design of the f150 with this facelift. I never thought the front could look good with the odd elongated top and bottom headlights, but these new headlights and grill look great. Man I wish these trucks were mass made in RHD. Imported in small numbers and locally converted to RHD means US trucks are crazy expensive in Australia.
I really think the unique STX grille helps with this front end. Thanks for watching Adam! -Justin
I bought bushwacker fender flares, proven ground grille, weather tech rain gaurds and the S&B cold air intake. Bought my stuff from these guys. Easy nice site
Thank you for the purchases and for the kind words, Alex! We hope you love everything! -Zach
I love the matt gray color with the sport grill.
No one:
This guy: The list of things that get expensive quickly gets very expensive quickly.
I lost about 1.5 mpg with a leveling kit. It will mess with your aero. The truck has a rake on purpose, and it's not just a preload for weight in the back. The CAI doesn't really do much either, other than a tad bit better throttle response in Normal mode and a cool "whoosh" sound with RPMs. Most worthwhile mods in this lineup are the tonneau cover and the running boards lol.
Bob saget. Legend.
Will not do a leveling kit for that very reason. A company that has built maybe millions of these trucks over the years has them sitting lower in the front for more than just aesthetics. Else they would have pumped them out leveled up. Gas mileage is just 1 reason not to add height to the front. Another big one for me is if you ACTUALLY put heavy things in your truck bed time to time because your bed is sagged and your front has you up blasting off like a rocket.
Good job 👍😎 I like it F -150 nice 🔥
You should make a video for reliability items , like upgraded intercoolers or add on coolers rear diff covers , oil catch can etc
Excellent video!
Excellent presentation and mod ideas! Could you please address the level kit (hockey puck style) for FX4? The suspension is bit different so a 2.5" would not really work; I got the ReadyLift 1.5" for FX4 but the truck does not sit level. Thanks!
1. Tint
2. Floor/weather mats
3. Running boards
4. Level kit
5. Bed cover
My top five modifications.
Not a bad list! Thanks for watching! -Zach
What is the tire/wheel combo used in this video for both the 33" and 35" tires? It looks amazing!
window tint
rubber floor mats
adjustable billstein leveling shocks to fit 34" tires
intake
rollup tonneau cover
led lights
I love the rake of a factory ford. If I was to do any lifting I'd keep it even front and rear. Hate when someone with a leveling kit has a load or a trailer and it squats the rear and the front is higher.
You guys are Awsome!!
I’d honestly go with the 3” leveling kit. I have it on my truck & it rides perfect still. I felt the 2.5” just didn’t get the front end quite perfectly level like the 3” does
If you load anything at all, the squat will kill you
Really Tinting should be the number one option. It makes driving about 100x more comfortable and makes ANY vehicle look way nicer.
It's the very first thing I did with mine, the next day after purchase
My list for ‘19 XLT 5.0 4x4 crew:
1. Tailgate assist from u guys, $37
2. Wheel well covers from u guys, $135
3. Dualliner drop in bed mat/ plastic sides/tailgate
4. Center dash and interior replacements of stock cheap black plastic w. wood trim
5. Bug deflector
Love tht colour on tht truck 👍👍
Headlight adjustment with that 2 1/2” level kit. And high temp paint will help the MBRP aluminized steel.
Hello, you guys produce some great informative videos. Thanks. You mentioned the 2,5" as being the highest you would go because of CV angle concerns. What are your thoughts on the ReadyLifts SST 3.5". You guys have a video on it, some dealers on the US are installing it, while some people have commented that Ford will not honor warranty if you have problems cause by this kit. I have a 2020 F-150 and looking to put 305/55R20 on it with a 0 to -18 offset wheel. (Still trying to figure out what will fit without or minimum trimming). Thanks
I stand by my previous statement- I personally wouldn't go above 2-2.5" without factoring in a 'diff drop'. At 3.5" I can only imagine the horrible angles of the CV's and the accelerated wear that it would no doubt incur. For that tire size (33") you should be able to achieve your desired setup with a 2" level- assuming you stay closer to the 0 offset. -Justin
Window tinting and rear wheel well liners are a couple nice mods termin di saham that won't break the bank either
Floor Mats should be on here!
Husky
Rough country
Yessss
Exhaust, leveling kit, bed cover, window tint, LED everything
Great list! -Zach
I love these mods alot!
A lot is two words.
you do not gain any hp with CAI unless you tune the truck. it will not change anything because the factory intake parameters remain the same unless tuned. it is all in everyone's head because the CAI will make the engine sound louder.
AlexanderFX4 yes in deed. The tuner a must and u will see the improved response and even better gas mileage.
just bought that leveling kit. Truck is on order stoked to get the truck and install. personally got the Air Raid Cool Air intake
Why would i not buy accessories for my truck that's on the way? plus AmericanTrucks.com had a spring sale with 20% off order over 100 dollars so i bought some things that i knew i wanted to put on my truck when it comes in at the end of July. Just because i have a youtube channel doesn't mean i make Videos. And im just a 13 year old trapped in a 30 year old body i still like to play its just my toys got bigger and more expensive.
Glad to see I'm not the only one. My truck is about a month away and I bought a lot of mods already.
66skate What mods are you going with right off the bat?
Stubby antenna, mud flaps, Bed Rug and tonneau cover. May add fog lights later on. I don't plan on any big mods.
Congrats on the truck and thanks for the support! -Justin
Spectre power adder intake and a second cycle upgrade have my 4.0 v6 sohc at 365hp and 34.9mpg from 210 hp and 30mpg
u definitely do need to clean your cold air intake way before 100k miles lol
I have the newer 2022 powerboost, I probably wont do anything with performance just since there is so much electrical and hybrid system, I have considered different running boards than it came with plus the cover. I take it tomorrow for a rhino lining.
What about LED replacement bulbs? I can't find any information on if they are different than the 2015-2020 bulbs. Getting new STX and need to know if I should get the LED's.
Enjoyed this video
another good $500 or less would be a drop in bed liner if your truck doesn't already have one. they usually run anywhere from $300-$450 for a drop in and around $375-$500 or so from a spray in bedliner i think. it's been awhile so don't quote me on that fully.
My new Lariat came with a bed-liner and very nice black running boards; I had to pay for the rear wheel liners, though, $205 installed...not bad
I didn’t do much to mine but level it and add tires with more traction in total it was like $1,200 O
How are those Barricade running boards holding up?
Mods are for guys who are financially solid in ALL ways. At 20yrs old I stopped modifying. At age 62 I resumed paying only cash and knowing I'd keep the vehicle at least 8yrs. Loss is not my thing. Waste is voluntary loss. Not investing while young is tragic at age 60+.
If and when you hit 62 you will see my point. Money is a tool only. A fool will misuse a tool every time and get hurt.
Would luv to hear the exhaust on the Ford F150 2.7L. A V8 exhaust mod is always gonna sound nice.
raising the front by 2.5 inches causes the drive shaft angle to change a bit. Would that cause any longer term wear and tear problem?
Spray in bedliner before anything aluminum bed comon
I really love that shade of grey
Aaron Brouse do you know what the color name
its called "Lithium Grey"
Thanks
One of 50
Aaron Brouse beautiful! Ford exclusive.
I think the truck it self liked the new exhaust,
1.Tint on the front windows to match the rear and a slight tint on the windshield. Makes all the difference in heat and glare here in FL.
2. Agree with the roll up fabric bed cover.
3. Love my factory bed liner.
4. Adjustable Ranchos. Levels and you can really tell the difference in towing.
Most importantly JLT oil separator, that's a most on any direct injection. Motors. I have one on my 2015 V6 mustang and 2017 f150. Every oil change the truck is 3/4 full of oil. So this should be the most important . Saves from carbon build up in your engine and longevity of the vehicle. $139.
Hey Casey- great recommendation! -Justin
Casey Berry yea some ppl concerned bout carbon & gen1 Ecoboost motors but truth is Ford isn't having problems overall esp if you run "full synthetic" motor oil AND tier1 fuels.
@@Davido50 by the time I spend the extra 40-60 on 1 synthetic oil change , the extra on gas for premium per gallon for a month. I've paid for the separator. The life of the vehicle paying 3+a gallons 75-100 syn vs 30-40 regular oil change from ford. I'm money ahead. And I even throw a high grade fuel additive in it every oil. And still money ahead just to empty a little bowl . Cheap or expensive oil or all will go thru pcv valve, maybe more than another.
2018 is Port and Direct, so you dont need the Oil Seperator dont waste your money.. i have 1 and it hasnt filled up more than an inch in the Catch from over 10,000 miles and a year of driving it.. Port Inj will keep ur intake valves clean. If it gives u piece of mind then go for it, but only if you have a 2017 or older should you get one.
@@caseyberry7960 that seperator isnt going to prevent oil sludge build up inside of your valve train.. only the backside of your intake valves.. other then that of course go Synthetic... conventional oil is garbage hence it can barely last even 3,000 miles before the additives break down amd cause metal to metal contact..
Bilstein 4600/5100 rear struts. $150
Had a 2017 f150 5.0 put K&N air filter on it cost $379. Done terrible things for motor-less MPG about 5 - great loss of power. Maybe I needed to tune the motor after putting it on.
I would of added a dang tailgate damper :-) 30buck item that should be on there by default.
Interestingly enough he endorsed the 2” level before
Recommend the cold air intake on the 3.3L as well??
Great Video. Simple made Smart. GJ. Sub'd.
Mahalo! -Justin
I just bought the same truck ! Gives me ideas
I broke down and got the black cowboy hat. Now I’m saving for the boots…
Get a trifold tonneau cover, they usually just clamp on. The snap covers are garbage in the cold. And the Velcro ones are garbage once the Velcro gets a little dirty. I’ve also had issues with the roll up covers coming off the track and getting wedged in the bed.
My trifold blocked them 1st 1/3 of the bed. But didn’t cover the back window. If I needed the full bed I just took it off and was able to get it in the bed with whatever large cargo I was carrying.
Bed covers are for pussies.
Ok, I did the Running Boards
Bed Cover is Close to $1,000 for a Hard Cover, but I have to have it
I will be getting the Air Intake
I want the BACK RAKED, can I use the lift on the rear only
The FIRST THING you should have done was a spray in bed liner
If I level my truck, it is now useless. I haul dirt bikes and tow a couple trailers. For me, Wheel Well Liners are a first buy, then a spray/roll on bed liner.
everything gets very expensive very quickly. I mean if you are on a budget okay cool. But if you can save up and wait a little, then do the stuff right. personally that's what I am doing.
Hey :) looking for some advice.....
when the 2.5" strut spacer is added it will push the control arm down, putting extra stress/wear on that ball joint. so I am just wondering if y'all recommend upgrading the upper control arm to accommodate the spacer?
We definitely recommend it if you have room in your budget! It will help your ball joints last longer and improve the ride quality too! -Zach
I never go on with a bolt on exhaust... only fully welded that's always the way to go you might pay a little bit more but you're going to have exhaust that's going to last you a very long time sometimes the life of the truck
I mean you can weld on any bolt on exhaust
What is the wheel.and tire combo pictured during the 2.5 spacer segment?
S S is a must on exhaust up north. Don't waste the time on Aluminized pipe.
when a 2.5" leveling kit is installed, does this effect the miles per gallon fuel efficiency? any data on that?
First thing I bought was a horn honk disabler for when you have the keys and close the door
source?
@@darenmcgrew164 4DTech Canopener flash
@@surplussean3364 Thanks!
@@darenmcgrew164 No problem
the steel side runners look good but I wonder how slick they are when you get your boots all wet and stuff. Slippery runners are the worst
Can I pls say this screw 2015 and above trucks if ye can get a an older one with not many mile on it Bc 1 there built better 2 if it’s old enough it could be a 7.3 l diesel. 3 in some people opinions they look like year 2003 or so 4 there built better
Note pls don’t mind my English sometimes I do make mistakes
Are all of these mods warranty friendly?
What lowering kits are out there for the new F-150? I'd love to see some coverage for such modifications.
Would you guys do ford lightning as well?
Eber Pena yes
Can you get 2" spacers instead, or are 2.5's the only option?
Assuming you don't want to do add larger wheels and tires, does the leveling kit offer any benefits other than cosmetic?
Adding a leveling kit will give you a little more ground clearance up front, but people install them *mainly* to gain extra ground clearance for tires and to undo their factory rake. -Zach
I find that a toneau cover helps a little bit with gas mileage too.
It won't turn your truck into a Prius, but it'll definitely keep air rolling smoother over your truck! -Zach
is the shot of the strut with the wheel off?
Roush cold air system routes the opening to the grill as to not suck in hot air from the engine compartment I would think that would be even better than the one you’re showing although I don’t know if Roush offers that one to the general public
The intake shown in this video is from Roush and does utilize the factory 'cold air' ducting. -Justin
AmericanTrucks Ford yes but not the one that comes on the ROUSH supercharged F150 off-road that pulls its air from the grill not from the hot engine compartment..
