The Alien AI of this game is interesting. It actually is done by having two AI machines, one is the Director AI which knows where you are at all times and feeds the Alien AI hints on where you are every now and then. Besides that, the Alien entity is "tethered" to you to a max distance, which is how it always hovers around your area. John complains about the alien coming every 6 seconds, but he's also walking and not crouching as soon as it jumps into a vent, which it can hear. It'll also adapt depending on how often you hide and where you hide (IE in a vent or in a locker constantly).
John's rants mid videos, especially in tense situations where he doesn't hold back with the snarkines, are my favourite parts of his playthroughs. Not just funny, but sociologically spot on.

Fun fact; despite the Alien's great AI, it does also have a very rudimentary tethering system where it follows you in a very close radius. You can most easily see this if you play the "Last Survivor" mode on Nightmare where the Alien stays suuuper close to you at all times, making it very hard to sneak away towards the objective. This can changed with a mod where it makes the Alien's AI trickier and more unpredictable, while also making it more fair and fun. Would recommend downloading that mod for a more fun experience overall.
25:10 - this is exactly why I'm always extremely quiet and hide behind that box in this part. It seems a lot of people missed the memo that the Xenomorph is technically active for the rest of the game. It's just on medium or lower, it takes longer to reach you. On hard/nightmare it has a tendancy to drop just as you're bording transit, almost regarless if you make sound or not. Must have heard you walking around.

The alien should always be practically right on you as it’s consistent with its hunting capabilities
@@IncredibleIceCastle That shit isn't fun. And if it's hunting capability were so good it's just kill you instead of following you around on a 5 foot leash.
@@TimtheWinzard keep in mind he’s playing on hard mode. The happy medium between the actual Alien from the movies and having a game that is playable is, in my opinion, the way this game works
@@IncredibleIceCastle Still a bad thing regardless.
@@llamadelreyii3369 then play on bitch baby mode if you want the alien to stay in a corner the entire game lolll
I’m so jazzed about this! Words cannot even describe-
What if the word is jazzed
I saw this exact comment by another "user" two minutes ago, what's up with all the bots recently?
@@acrustykrab cheey
@@laurenc5306 Idk man, you’re looking a bit like a bot yourself. If not: lighten up, buzzkill.
I was looking forward to RE 8, but damn if this isn't a VERY pleasant surprise. Can't wait until you reach the medical wing.
I keep coming back to this video time and time again. This is my RUclips equivalent of a comfort movie
Johns sassiness in this stream was everything
a game made almost *7 years ago* has No Business looking this good
This game really did look incredible when it came out.
John sassing his chat and talking shit about BOTW will never get old 😂 even if I am a fan of it, shit’s funny dude
John complains about the alien coming every 6 seconds, but he's also walking and not crouching as soon as it jumps into a vent, which it can hear. It'll also adapt depending on how often you hide and where you hide (IE in a vent or in a locker constantly).
In which a tall dark stranger invites John and friends over for dinner
I’m so glad you’re posting these on RUclips, I saw the vods on twitch and they were the funniest thing ever 🤣
John's rants mid videos, especially in tense situations where he doesn't hold back with the snarkines, are my favourite parts of his playthroughs. Not just funny, but sociologically spot on.
29:25 when john turns into seinfield "You can't throw the flARes?!" 😂😂😂
wow alien isolation came out in 2014?! i can't believe how quickly time passes ToT
1:11:43 that alien glitch was amazing 🤣🤣
This game was so stressful half the time I hide
Its weird but it doesn't even feel like this game was out that long ago...
Every single Axel that I've met in my life has been an asshole, glad to see it still rings true even in a game. lol
Thanks!
Really appreciated this, looking forward to the next entry to the "I replayed" series coming up.
thank you so much for taking the time to edit this! Time to grab the popcorn
"The access tuner" bit has got me dying.
Edit: When John is blasting the xenomorph with the flamethrower, it somehow reminds me of spraying a pet with a squirt bottle.
This game was awesome!
My biggest issue was how glitchy and stiff the human npc's acted at points
This is the scariest and most terrifying game of all time, I really enjoyed every minute of it
Playing this is scary as hell . It’s one of my favorite survival horror games that isn’t resident evil
First time I played this game (on easy) I got so scared I ended up waking my husband at 3 am by my screaming. Bless him he came running down the stairs stark naked ready to save me from whatever real life situation I was facing only to discover I was playing a video game. He was not best pleased
John's "I want that on record" gets me every time😂

Fun fact; despite the Alien's great AI, it does also have a very rudimentary tethering system where it follows you in a very close radius. You can most easily see this if you play the "Last Survivor" mode on Nightmare where the Alien stays suuuper close to you at all times, making it very hard to sneak away towards the objective.
This can changed with a mod where it makes the Alien's AI trickier and more unpredictable, while also making it more fair and fun. Would recommend downloading that mod for a more fun experience overall.
I was so sad about missing the 20 hour stream. And honestly i was never gonna get thru that vod so thank you for your hard work cutting it down ☺️
I DIDNT REALIZE SAMUELS WAS A ROBOT UNTIL HE DIED WTF
"Super easy, barely an inconvenience" lol I understood that reference! Nice touch, John.
i've never been so happy with an upload
who’s in your pfp?
I’ve always played this game on Normal and seeing Hard difficulty makes the Alien so much more active I noticed, holy shit.
Omg I can't believe u actually did it lol props man, so much work to edit this down! I'm glad u did happy to watch it!
"Wanna see something funny"
*Lights self on fire and dies while being ironic*
That was pretty funny.
A blast from the past. I've really enjoyed the stream whenever I got the chance to watch live.
I still remember the "Solomon's Sluts" gag!
This must have been a bitch to edit
Feaking love you John
29:15 - The best part of the game... John trying to hide and avoid detection by lighting a flare and throwing it down at his feet. Twice! lol
Hey John I just wanted to say I really appreciate you as a youtuber I’ve been subscribed to you since 2013 and I’m glad you’re still doing this. You play a really dope role in my life so I really appreciate you 🔥
Isolation released in 2014? This aged *really* well.
Hell yeah!!! My fave game from John again?? Made my day

OMG, I'm wheezing and crying with laughter so hard, and it's only an hour and a half in, John you are such an on point sarcastic asshole, pointing out the assholes in chat, I LOVE IT
All this hiding in lockers reminds me of high school
John, your sarcasm is soup for my soul…thank you for the laughs!
Ive never actually finished an alien isolation let’s play before, very glad to see this
Oh my Lord John, thank you for this. One of my favorite playthroughs you ever did. I get to experience it all over again now 😂
I watched this on stream but I can never get enough of my fave RUclipsr or my fave game.
I don't know what I love more: John's mild break down over the flare or when he was racing the xeno around the medical facility.
Love John's "my vent, my vent!"
This is such a throwback for me of watching this in 2017 when I graduated high school, to now as I am graduating university XD Thank you so much John for playing this again always so fun to watch you play this game!
Yesss it's up! I watched 99% of those streams but it's great to have an abridged version. I'll be sure to watch all the posters get roasted. Hoping the pss pss pss moments made it in :D
