Make Your Guitar One-Of-A-Kind

- I like all guitars, but there are a few that I love, and even fewer still that I plan to keep until I no longer exist, and that means, at some point, another person is going to see and feel the instrument that I spent so much of my life with. And I want that to mean something. I want my guitar to feel like a story. I want my guitar to be a piece of me that carries on.
Kind of like a horcrux, but without the ....
If you’ve seen other videos on my channel, you’ll know that my Les Paul Special is one of the great inanimate loves in my life. When I pick it up, it just feels like home. And because of that, I want it to represent my real home: The state of Montana
I grew up and spent most of my life in Montana, a place I think defines the word beautiful. I can’t believe how lucky I am to have spent so many years soaking up the magic of that state. I live in Massachusetts these days, a place I enjoy far less and where I feel continually out of place so creating this Montana license plate pickguard will be a great way to create a unique guitar and remind me of home.
The state means something to me, but so does the name because, for years, that was what most people called me, especially the Makah Tribe of Neah Bay, Washington. 10 years ago, I had the amazing privilege of traveling with them on a 10-day canoe journey through the Puget Sound.
They named me Montana, and announced that I was of the Clorox tribe. They’re a hilarious bunch. As you can imagine, a bunch of tribal painted canoes attract attention, and people would come speeding over in their boats and nearly swamp us in the process. One woman in the canoe, Polly, would look back and say, “Montana, can you tell your tribe to stop that.”
They showed me how to catch octopus, how to recognize the tides, and most importantly, how to experience life in a whole new way. Let me tell you, you haven’t lived until you’ve sat in a brutally hot sweat house, chanting until you have a vision.
And I want my Les Paul Special to take on part of my vision for it. I want it to be uniquely mine. In this case, if my guitar was in a room full of Les Paul Specials, I’d want to instantly go, “Oh, there’s mine.”
And this pickguard is part of that vision. My Les Paul Special is no longer just a guitar. It’s the beginning of a story. - Развлечения
you have one of the best channels on RUclips, not just one of the best "GUITAR focused channels" but really great meaningful fun content.
thanks Montana 😜
That’s very kind of you, man. Appreciate it.
I must say that your content is unique, entertaining, beautiful. Keep it up. It's great stuff.
Appreciate it!
Missoula guy here. You are right, it is beautiful
I've been to Montana, and I agree that it is beautiful. I'm from Michigan, another state loaded with beautiful wonders, and it is cold enough for me. While I love Montana, I don't think that I could take the cold winters there. Great job on the personalization!
Eastern Montana is rough in the winter. High winds and brutal cold. The western half of the state tends to be a lot more mild. Some winters get a LOT of snow, but it's not nearly as cold.
If you love Montana move back, life is too short for regrets... great video!
Love it. Please don't stop sharing your heart and videos. You have a lot to say and share. I can tell.
Custom Everything. Always.
Looks great, perfect color scheme.
Love It! ✨🍄✨
Happy Fathers Day Montana.......
Thanks!
Aw man, right in the feels 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you!
This is my guitar, there are many like it but this one is mine. My guitar is my best freind. It is my life. I must master it as i must master my life
This is the essence of “Guitar Movies” - stories about guitars that speak to the hold they have in our lives and our souls. Well done Montana!
Thanks!
Viva Johnny Thunders! TV Yellow is IT
I like it
Great vid, glad to see another one from you. Shout out for the Brian Fallon shirt. Love him and can’t get enough Gaslight.
The 59 Sound changed my life. Fallon is amazing
@@guitarmovies His lyrics are amazing. Hes a big gear nerd too, he’s done some awesome interviews with Rig rundown and also Greg Koch. Smoke is probably my favorite of his solo stuff. 59 sound, Handwritten and sink or swim for gaslight.
Very cool man
I had a friend from Cuba that moved to Miami back in the early 80’s named Tony Montana.
Did you say hello to his little friend?
@@guitarmovies Lmbo!! All he had in this world was his balls and his word
cool!
Just acquired a special myself and I am seeing your video just now. I thought I would never fall for a Gibson but here I am … that guitar is, as its name suggests, SPECIAL.
Peace
Great!
Moments when you wish there was something stronger than a "like" button, superb.
Thank you!
Love your videos, love this idea and I love the LP Special! I have the same one and it’s my one! Simply an amazing guitar that inspires so much creativity!
Thank you for all your awesome content and keep it up, man!
Thank you!
This was the best antidote to a stressful work day, thanks for making & sharing! It also reminded me of making a Tele pickguard out of the first vinyl record I bought. It was Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and was the first rock album that made me want to start playing guitar.
That's awesome! I've been on a Black Sabbath kick lately.
@@guitarmovies I tend to go down loads of musical rabbit holes in different genres for months on end but always end up circling back to bands like Sabbath or Free. Also, Montana looks like what I'd want heaven to look like 😂 you're very lucky!
Great video. I’m working my way through your videos… I hope there’s some more coming. 👊🏼
Thanks! I have a couple more videos in progress, but I'm not sure if I'll do any more after that.
@@guitarmovies I watch guitar stuff all the time and I only come back to the well put together channels. Yours are interesting and very well put together. Every single one I’ve watched. I hope you carry on. Thanks for the videos so far if you don’t. Best of luck 👊🏼
Awesome. Well done!
Thanks!
Great vid and great storytelling :) Keep up the awesome work !
Thanks!
waxing lyrical like that is most definitely worth putting on wax;),...keep up the recording/documentation/production/story telling etc.etc.etc. rock on.
Hey! Great vídeo, and a nice sentimental modification! I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I just can't find a pickguard for my TV special here, or internet. Do you want to send me your ex black pickguard? 🙏 Aguanten los p90!!!
Montana, did anyone ever tell you that your LP Special looks like a Twinkie? ;) The I continually feel out of place really hit home. Great vid, love the new LPS look!
Yellow and blue .story and couple
I don’t know if you have time or not man but you should do a lot more videos you got a great sense of humor and I can tell you love guitars
I’d definitely do more if I had the time. It’s also tough to get guitars. Production is behind for a lot of companies so they don’t have much to pass around for reviews. Only the big channels tend to get them.
@@guitarmovies I saw you do a video where you asked viewers what guitar brands they would like to see you cover I’ve been looking at framus Lately
License plate had 5150 on it.
Great story but it definitely looks better with the black pickguard.
Did you mention that you work in advertising? Great video!
Thanks! Yep, I do.
Love your stuff bro yeah I’m getting old and I think about the people that would have my guitars after I’m gone I just love them so much if I would’ve had nice guitars when I was 15 years old I would’ve never gotten married twice And I’m kind of jealous I always wanted to move to Montana but I’ll just have to settle with Tennessee
I like Tennessee! Great state.
West Tennessee here, love the state more and more as I age
@@guitarmovies Yeah I live in Rockwood Tennessee about 100 miles east of Nashville it is beautiful here
@@benjaminfowler4513 Yeah I live in Rockwood Tennessee about 100 miles East of Nashville it is beautiful here but I was raised in Memphis
@@jeffholliday8304 awesome man im about 2 hours away from both Memphis and Nashville in a tiny place called McKenzie. Memphis is great
great idea !!! it look really cool ... loved it !!!!
but being the plate metal doesnt interfere with the pickups ???
Great idea!!!
Greetings from Portugal
Stay safe & keep Rockin
I haven’t noticed anything with the different pickguard
What part of Montana are you from? Love your channel!!!
I grew up in Creston (just east of Kalispell)
@@guitarmovies absolutely beautiful country there! I live in Billings and recognized that license plate right away. I just discovered your channel and love your content and even better from a fellow Montanan.
I haven't been to Billings in forever. Used to go every year for state wrestling but it's probably been 20 years since I was there last.
Where’d you go? Live free or die?
Oh my, near had a panic attack the way you solemnly laid out the LP as if you were going to get rid of it. I thought maybe you'd been forced to sell, or something heart-rending. But no. False alarm. ruclips.net/video/LMrhJnqIWC8/видео.html
