Saw this, on my firestick, but was unable to leave a comment. So came to my trusty phone. That's how much I had to pay homage to the skills of this guy. Setting the guitar in the wood from where it came, was masterful. (Plus being able to solder decently, being able to play, as well as create something of true beauty). Just pure admiration, brother. Very rare have I sat through a 20-25 minute video without skipping. I would have sat through 45 mins of this. No problem. Thank you.
Really enjoying this ASMR-format without any commentary. You could take it one step further: cut out all frames where hands are visible and tools make sound. Et voila, a guitar silently shaping itself into existence :) Good luck with the GGBO contest!
This video has been playing 3 times so far. Soothing and relaxing, enchanting... Your work is amazing and you are a true ARTISTE, MONSIEUR! When I saw the wooden pickguard I just lost it. Chapeau bas, l'artiste!
There are just few reasons why guitars are made from many slabs: 1st, price, the smaller the wood piece, the cheaper it is (duh), to the point where in cheap guitars the body is at least 3 piece, sometimes 4 or 5. 2nd, neck has to be tough, it must hold against string tension without flexing to much and there is much less material than in the body. Of course truss rod is a thing, but still, we see wood like mahogany for body and maple neck. 3rd, economy, see how much waste there is when you have slab with width of a body and you cut away wings to form a neck. I think that this wood will be repurposed in some way, but it’s not an option for mass produced guitars
@@Reynevan94 its possible to make the neck and body center piece from one part and glue on the wings - probably the most economical way to have everything from bridge to nut from one piece of wood
Another reason is that with the cutting down of old-growth trees, and short-term farming becoming more prevalent, trees in general are smaller, and pieces of wood big enough to make an entire guitar out of are increasingly rare.
@@tchiksguitars thank you so much for answering. i thought i was an idiot for trying different neck angles and bridges on my modding guitars 😅 the aim is to one day be able to build myself my own guitar

if someday you open a guitar company, i would definitely bought 1
hahaha
because i've been tried some of kickstart guitar and well not suit my heart
It's most likely never going to happen but thanks !
@@tchiksguitars please, do IT
Your relationship with your daughter in the woodshop has made me think about being a father again after a brutal miscarriage. Your woodworking skills are beautiful and your attention to detail is immaculate! Thank you for making this video it has taught me and inspired me.
The one-piece guitar.
the one piece guitar is real.
can we get much higher💦
The time and care you put into the knobs and getting the fretboard perfect with the headstock was great. That first note must have felt really satisfying for you. Good job and good luck in the competition
that first note came a bit late because I had to redo the wiring :p
Excellent job there's nothing so satisfying as the sound of wood being shaved with the Chisel great job beautiful guitar you are a true artist
this was so beautifully shot
Thank you !
"laughs at her own dystopian fantasy" dude that killed me, what a sweetheart ;-)
P.S amazing video and guitar (building)
Et voila, a guitar silently shaping itself into existence :)
Good luck with the GGBO contest!
Excellent idea ! I'll order green gloves and onesies right away :)
The one piece is real
Yohohohoho
What a joy to see a guitar crafted from a single solid cut of wood. Just beautiful! Thank you!
when he uses a separate plank for he fretboard: lies
THE ONE PIECE GUITAR
THE ONE PIECE IS REAAAL!!!
This video has been playing 3 times so far. Soothing and relaxing, enchanting... Your work is amazing and you are a true ARTISTE, MONSIEUR!
When I saw the wooden pickguard I just lost it. Chapeau bas, l'artiste!
Haha. T'es fou
I came here bc i wanted a guitar. Now i want a daughter.
I always wondered: Is this theoretically possible and why have I never seen it on you tube before? Everyone does the neck separately.
I should hire you to reply to this eternal comment I get :)
@@Reynevan94 its possible to make the neck and body center piece from one part and glue on the wings - probably the most economical way to have everything from bridge to nut from one piece of wood
@@akkudakkupl Pretty common, even. Probably my favorite looking style. Bought my current Schecter bass partly for this reason.
Another reason is that with the cutting down of old-growth trees, and short-term farming becoming more prevalent, trees in general are smaller, and pieces of wood big enough to make an entire guitar out of are increasingly rare.
Daughter is adorable and your work is remarkable. Well done
Thanks !
Kinda relaxing🤤
newbie question: how do you determine neck angle / bridge height when building from scratch?
thanks
trial and error for me, this is the 4th time I make this design with this bridge, so I knew in advance it didn't need a neck break angle
@@tchiksguitars thank you so much for answering. i thought i was an idiot for trying different neck angles and bridges on my modding guitars 😅 the aim is to one day be able to build myself my own guitar
When I built my first guitar I didn't even know that neck angles were a thing
Amazing work! Your daughter is so cute too! I think kids speaking french is one of the most endearing things. I'm sure she will have fond memories of helping you out with your guitars. Beautiful craftsmanship, thanks for sharing!
I hope she does. In any case I have the videos to help :)
From one father to another "Just don't tell mum..." haha
I like to think you're getting revenge on your wife after she told you you couldn't buy more guitars.
This might be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. The talent and attention to detail is just mind blowing. Mad respect. This is truly art.
*THIS GUITAR COULD BE YOURS!!* the auction just went live and will go on until July 2 !! Link is here : www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154502615052
Remember this is for a good cause and I will not get 1 cent of the proceed for myself ! All benefits are going to charities, which includes Infirmiers de Rue, a Belgian non profit organization that provides healthcare on the street for homeless people as well as rehousing solutions !
Thanks for that 🙏🎸
Please I will pay you just build me a guitar just like this one
I have saved
I need a real guitar not a copy of a famous design that everyone has and all argue about who's the guitar is better
I believe soon as they see this one they will all shut up
One slap of beautiful wood and the curves and lines that bring it to life
And oh my god bring out the tone just so beautiful
Please make me one
The "pass the Goddamn butter" rythme is one of my favourites, reminds me of Justin Chancellor from Tool!
This is the second time I get this comment so I had to look it up
@@tchiksguitars yeah, he did an interview for bassist magazine, where he performed the riff for the song 'Aenema' and thats the rythme he uses!
Un immense bravo. Tout est beau : la réalisation, le colorimétrie, le son, le rythme et évidemment la guitare. Un vrai plaisir pour les yeux.
Parabéns muito exelente seu trabalho
