    ABOUT ME
    I’m Fern! A 20-something gal living on beautiful Vancouver Island, Canada with my partner and two dogs. I like to create content on social media part time and also work as a Registered Nurse. I am interested in health and wellness - nutrition, holistic living, and exercise. I have been vegan for over 4 years and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I have over 100 houseplants and love to share about them :) For those into astrology, I am a gemini sun, scorpio moon, & libra rising. I started out on social media with a focus on makeup/beauty/fashion and am not into it as much, but I do share on those topics from time to time. Thanks for stopping by!

      Is that okay to do? I seriously assumed if there is a chemical that's released through the rooting it's not okay for other types of plants..

      Ummmm, I mean, if u think about it that doesn’t make any sense. Why are we changing the water in our propagation sin the first place if we can just reuse the water? Right, isn’t it because the plants take up all the nutrients in the water so we have to dump it out every so often? If u give it to your other plants they aren’t getting the nutrients from the water that they need. It’s a good idea, but it doesn’t make much sense.

Two of them are ferns and the other i can’t control the growth of my Golden Pothos it’s growing like crazy i have already propagated it twice and i have only had it for a month. The other two are succulents and they haven’t grown very much. I would love to know what plants you have. 🌱🌿💚

    Spider plants are so easy. When babies shoot out, I just stick them back in the pot and severe the connection to the mom plant whenever it roots.
    Now since the pot is full, i just sat a pot next to it and let the babies go there lol

    I have 200+ orchids alone and about 70 hoyas, carnivorous plants, and others so I totally get you. It is hard work. Appreciate you for sharing. And also totally understand that uploading videos like this is so much work and time... I couldn’t do update video in one video... it gets too long so decided to make “update while watering” videos... and the footages are still sleeping in my phone since I do have time to edit! Lol.... anyway, funny you said misting is not really helping the humidity up on the other video but here you are misting Nepenthes... I think yours is Alata (Ventrata). Very easy going one that would adapt to your environment in 1-2 years. Mine have no issue making pitchers with out misting. It’s rather lighting that would make more pitchers.

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  4 года назад +3

      Plant s And other things thank you so much for your kind words! And for watching. And yes hahaha you caught me 😆 someone said that misting helps the pitchers and I guess my brain really latched on to that idea. Carnivorous plants are so fascinating, but I have sooo much to learn about them - I’m a noob! Awesome info, I appreciate it! x

    • @orchidsbythelake
      @orchidsbythelake 4 года назад

      wildfern just keep watering and let the plant acclimate your place. As far as I see from your videos, it should make pitchers no problem once it gets used to it.

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  4 года назад +4

      Yeah, you're right! The root was about 1.5-2 inches and the rest of them are successfully growing now. It was just unlucky that I pulled it out. Thankfully M. Adansonii propagates really easily :)

    I saw you have one, my Begonia Maculata literally never does well. It doesn’t seem to matter where it is, I keep it in a well lit room but no direct sunlight. I’ve repotted, I water only when it’s dry on the top couple of inches. I’ve pinched it and pruned it. Given it fertiliser in growing months. Given it a pebble tray for humidity and it just does not want to do well for me!

  • @AnneLi236
    @AnneLi236 2 года назад

    You should cut/or heat-burn some holes in the pot for the thai. And less water! Try different watering-methods. Try less water, often. Try 3 oz of water every 4-5 days.

      Hey don't be discouraged! I would recommend trying to look for care videos on plants you may want! Try to find a general style that you like with your plants and then look up lots of info and maybe write it down! I would also recommend starting off with just one, care for it and see if you like it! If you like it then you could probably repeat the same thing and buy another plant :) things take time! Don't give up, it's so so worth it I promise!!

  • @potentiallycasey

    I love watching these kinds of videos! So satisfying! 😍😍When you spray your plants with your neem solution do you wash them off with water afterwards? Or do you just leave it?

    • @wildfern
      @wildfern  4 года назад +2

      Thank you so much 💗 and I just leave it! I know a lot of people wash it off, but I’ve never had a problem with leaving it and in my brain it makes me think it’s protecting them better lol. The only thing you have to be careful of is not to put them in direct sun right after because they’ll be more prone to burning. I usually do it in the evening so it’s not light out to reduce that risk :)

    I’m just starting to get into plants, so far I have a pothos that has some sort of fungal infection that I am trying to propagate, a sweet potato that I’m trying to propagate, a fern that is actually doing pretty well, some propagating strawberry seeds, an attempted vivarium with some moss inside, and an attempted worm farm. The only plant I’ve actually killed so far was an aloe that had a rough start. Side note: spaghnum moss is not renewable source, it is essential for wetlands to thrive, which take centuries to develop and are responsible for about a third of the world’s oxygen. The harvesting method for the moss is also very harmful to the ecosystem. Coco coir is much better, it retains moisture very well and is renewable. It unfortunately does lack some of the nutrients that spaghnum moss has but there are other, much better ways to get that nutrients for your plants rather than destroying the earth. Happy planting

    Thank you for a very informative vid. I would try leca on your Thai Monstera. It was the only way it survived and now has 5 leaves since last September.

    Cool video and lot of good ideas ! If I may maybe use glove when you deal with neem oil... There's still a lot of research to be done and it banned in some place for this reason. The amount your using is obviously armless but over a lifetime it could be a lot of exposure and your skin absort the thing. Althought I think it's chill to used it... It is after all from a plant but so is Pyrethrin. Putting glove on is not that long and IF there's side effect you are protected form them. Have a good one and keep up the good work :)

    I have a question I have a spider plant and live in the city. The pour plant fell down the Fire escape stairs durning a bad storm. It was doing good but now it’s been about 10 days and it’s looking pretty droopy and where the leaves bent they are browning and breaking. But the thing is it’s got a new spiderette since it happened and the spiderettes it had before falling are flowering and sprouting. So I’m not sure if it’s happy or not. It looks like a momma that is stressed and giving 100% of herself to her babies. I feel sooooo bad. My daughter seen the rain start and grabbed the anthurium plant and Kalanchoe plant from the window seal. Set them down then went to grab the spider plant and the wind blew it down the stairs. She said she seen it then turned her head to set down the other two and when she looked back it was gone. She was so upset. Please if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it so much.
