Forgot to say THANKS,for this Great Video! Glad i checked RUclips before using the Terminal,Orig Method.
Also,i put everything,the Utility,FW Files in a "G90" Dir in Root of C: & shortened the FW File Names to "G90_Main.xgf" & G90_disp.xgf". Makes the whole Command Line WAY Shorter (less chance mispelling) & works GREAT! No SENSE going through multiple Dir Levels to do this...
I agree!! I had tried Tera Term but was unsuccessful, I had started putting g90updatefw with the parentheses. Quickly discovered the error of my ways. I had gone from assembly/binary coding to higher level languages very quickly and never spent much time with the command prompt - Frosty K1JVM
This program got my G90 operational after a firmware update. Something went wrong and TeraTerm would transfer the file using Xmodem, but my radio would not power up. Thanks for this video!
Worked Great! I had bricked the main unit, but upgraded the display using the standard method. Your sequence and Dale's program corrected fixed it all. Thanks!
Just used this method to Update my G90.
All went as shown,except at end of Display Update,"Comm Lost" was BLINKING at bottom of Display! Turned Off & On,still same thing.
Unplugged Power Cable then Back in,turned On & ALL IS OK!
Just wanted to share,in case someone else got the same results & freaked out..... i WAS ABOUT TO....LOL!
Great video... I've seen some forum posts about this method... I've always done it the "hard" way. I didn't really realize how much easier this method is. My buddy just bought a G90, I'm going to share this with him. Thanks for posting this!

I have a problem and maybe you can get an idea how to fix it. I completed the 1.78 firmware update on the main unit and was in the process of updating the display unit when the G90 shut down. I can't turn on the G90. I was plugged into electrical power so the unit had power throughout the update process. I cannot turn on the transceiver. . The G90 transceiver was not hot or overheated. Hope you have a suggestion or two.
It seems that running in 32 bit or 64 bit computer, the program does not work, administrator privileges were given in cmd.
Thank you, notice any difference? Be nice if it would allow us to put visual bars for each band so we don't go out of bounds, seems like an easy software addition.
I think the audio is clearer and the volume control is better. Other than that, still playing with it
im having trouble how to run that Dale Farnsworth's firmware. I have a g90 that wont turn on. I want to try re uploading new firmware to see if it can fix mine
A couple of things to check. When running the Farnsworth program, be sure to do it administrator. So open a CMD window as administrator and run the program. Also if you are using Win11 and have recent updates, the 'Core Isolation' problem may be the culprit that keep the program from using the USB port. Find my video on that topic for help. Good luck!

What does the updated firmware give you if you're still too scared to try it.
Mostly refined stuff. Better control of audio volume and some other stuff. If you're uncomfortable doing this, it'll work just fine
Hi great video but im a bit old and not up to speed with it all is there any help to get to where you are at the start of video, ive tried the way someone posted below but wont work on my windows 10 laptop any help with simple explained instructions please
Ernie I downloaded Farnsworth amd64 exe file and when I go to run it the command window blinks on the computer screen and is gone in an instant. Am I doing something wrong?
You need to run the CMD window as administrator and run the program from the command line
@@ernietech-101 for me the program you recommended g90updatefw does not work even with administrator permission tried it with 32 bit and 64 bot computer please send me the file you are using tx

Mac afee tells me g90updater contains a virus ?

I wish you’d show how you get to the point where the video starts. I click the farnsworth link and all get is a page full of gobbledygook.
Stick the 2 update files and the downloaded 'g90updatefw.exe' in a folder on your desktop - Call it something like 'Xiegu G90 Update Files'
Open Command Promp - Right click - Run as Administrator
Open the folder - Copy the file path
In 'Command Prompt' Type 'cd [Paste Copied File Path Here with no brackets eg. C:\Users\xxxxx\Desktop\Xiegu G90 Update Files]'
This will change the Command Prompt' directory to the folder on the desktop and hey presto you're now at the start of the video.
As ever there will be different ways of getting to this point but this is one way and it works.
@Daniel Markland I think I finally figured out the maze of opening admin command prompt... tried to do a test run without being plugged in to the radio and the program did not progress. However, the blue usb was plugged in to the computer. Does the radio itself need to be connected for it to proceed further?
