Have to add here, that in some cases (Ubuntu flavor linux distros) you might not able to update due to missing TTY device.
You might notice in logs that connection and then a few seconds lates disconnection of USB-TTL cable.
The root cause of this is defect in following application: brltty
This application is installed by default in system after OS installation.
You need just remove "sudo apt purge brltty" and than again connect your USB-TTL cable to PC.

There is a windows version of the software, you'll only need to change the /dev/ttyUSBx to COMx. If you need a 'rar' utility, winrar from rarlabs is the popular choice.
CAUTION: following the instructions in the video I used the installer on the Farnsworth site. It went through the steps as if it was working but it BRICKED my G106 radio! Now the power light will come on but it does nothing else. I tried the factory reset instructions in the G106 manual and that doesn't work any longer. Now I have a doorstop with a dim green LED that looks like a G106 radio. FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
