Getting FLRig to Play Nice with the Xiegu G90

- FLRig is a great way to interface with your Xiegu G90. But sometimes it can be a little tricky to get them to talk to each other. This video shows you the proper rig settings for most interfaces and how to solve common problems.
I have been trying to figure out how to get my G90 to do FT-8 for the last 4 weeks. Im not there yet but one step closer thanks to your video Ernie. Can almost taste the digital waves

Thanks to this video I now have my G90 all up and running with the digi-rig mobile interface and like you my G90 went right into TX .

I have a G90 and a DigiRig. I prefer Linux over Windows, but I've discovered that I get the transmitter coming on immediately when I have flrig configured for the digirig. However if I use exactly the same configuration on windows, the radio does not go into transmit when starting flrig. Another "gotcha" if your G90 has the 1.79 firmware, there is added a "l-d" and "u-d" setting for lsb-digital and usb-digital. If you preset the radio to l-d or u-d using the buttons, flrig kicks it back to either lsb or usb, and you have to manually change back to l-d or u-d. These added selections, when in l-d or u-d disable the mike and route audio in/out thru the accessory din connector.

Great video! I was using my G90 with FLRig 1.4.4 last night, and it quit working. FLRig could not communicate to the COM port. After spending a bit of time troubleshooting, I figured out that the USB -> serial cable that came with the G90 (blue USB connector) failed. After switching to a spare USB -> serial cable, all is well. 73 de VE7TMZ

Do you know where it what brand your spare USB to serial cable is. I need one all the retailers that sell Xiegu radio will not sell the cable alone. Thanks.
That blue thing that came with the rig is the cause of most problems. Mine literally fell apart in my hands.
Your videos are very well made and are very informative, but you might want zoom in with your camera so that everyone can see what you're pointing at on your computer screen or on your devices. My grandson watched your video but wasn't sure what you were trying to show. Thanks again for your videos they're very helpful.

Hello. So what are the parameters that I need to set for the serial port on the computer, not FLRIG
Actually, the digital part of this has nothing to do with the sound Interface device. The definition in FLrig must be wrong for the G90 so fooling it with the IC-7100 did the trick. Simpler and more accurate explanation.
Sounds like I need to hook up a dummy load while adjusting FLRIG conf.

Thank you Ernie. All works as you said, but I am having a devil of a time getting my keyer in flrig to work with my G90. Any advice.
I have the G90 and the Digimode-4 which I am trying to set up for field use. I have the radio speaking to the computer (an Acer Aspire) but the computer does not communicate with the radio in using FT8. I notice that the ALC level on the radio is at 100. What little hair I have left is being pulled out s I've tried adjusting the speaker volume on the PC with no luck. Any Suggestions? N3GJB, Jeff
Well with the new firmware there is a data mode which could help.
@@ernietech-101 I did just that yesterday. Upgraded to the latest firmware version successfully. When attempting to use FT-8, I can receive incoming data. I send CQ's out and it appears that no one can hear me. I'm running 18 watts using the new USB data mode. Do you know if the new firmware has changed the radio to allow the rear COMM port for data cables? I've had the G90 for two years and I still cannot get it to work for FT-8 (or Winlink). It's gotta be something simple.....

It should, but the only way most people have been successful is to use FLRig as the source of FLDigi. Set up FLRig to talk to the G90 first.

This was such a great video. I had a lot of settings wrong and the turn on/off procedures all wrong... I have the USB-Digimode-4 and thought would solve my problem...but it didn't..My problem is that everything with WSJT-X is working but have no TX inspite of: LINE IN, AUX IN 8, AUX OUT 15, no AGC, Firmware updated to 1.79b where you use U-D as the Mode.AUDIO Speakers pc to radio set to 50, Microphone radio to pc set to 5........anyone reading these comments any help or direction is appreciated as I have run out of things to try Thanks JOHN N6TRC
