I love how hes just so obsessed with that guy in the small hat
The conical hat man, get the fuck out!!! Lol

This is how I watch movies, even if they are fantastic! I'm like, woo that's a T-Rex eating that goat while sprinkler rains down on him. Is that part of the Environment Control for the T-Rex? I mean they built this in a rainforest and it's raining during the scene so the sprinkler is like your neighbors' during a thunderstorm!

To be fair, the Alita Manga was released in 1990, basically predating a LOT of the tropes you've seen on TV for the last 29 years.
Yes, pretty much every trope sinned was invented in Battle Angel.
Did they ever actually finish the story? It's been well over 20 years since I checked but last time they didnt have plans to go further. Maybe I'll go look again...
@@NeoIsrafil Yes they did, at least as her 'adult' self. A story revolving around her time on Mars was started.
The villain monologue in movies dates back even as far as the 60s, definitely a cliche still.
Many of them were only in the movie though.
CinemaSins: "We're finally gonna see a full moterball match, that's the best part of the mov... Goddamn it!"
My thoughts exactly at the end.
Me too! Me and my family where so happy to finally see a full motorball scene but then it was the end of the movie
Yup! My thoughts were "omg this is going to be awesome, kick some ass then raid the city. Wait what? That's it? She held up the sword like Arthas and that's it?? God damnit.."
Same. My whole family was like ' Whaatt?'
Here's another nit pick for that last scene she couldn't have brought that sword into the arena hand held weapons as well as projectile and spray/radiating weapons are forbidden
Just wait til the make a movie from book 2 of the Manga.
I liked how Jennifer Connelly just kinda walked into whatever scene needed her

Yeah CinemaSins has really dipped in quality. They've lost their bite. It used to be pointing out lapses in internal or external logic and other actually sinable offenses that both good, bad, and average movies make, but now it's just pure pettiness for the sake of views.

Agreed. I didn't see the actual movie but it seems boring. I'd rather just watch the badass robot lady kick ass, y'know
You’re kinda supposed to not like his storyline . At least that’s how it is in the books. It’s the naïve love that doesn’t work, betrayal to her, and then she goes on a bender into motorball is morally ambiguous and learns from her mistakes then ACTUALLY finds love at one point....but it’s a good way to introduce the world and pain.....books are way better I promise

Artists: how big should her eyes be?
Writers table: *yes*
Sad, really, since the actress's natural eyes are very pretty, like Sonita Henry's (the similarly unnecessarily "big-eyed" doctor at the beginning of the first Star Trek reboot film).
Also proves that Cameron doesn't know the source material, since every character that meets Alita in the manga comments that her most unusual feature are her exceptionally full, "octopus lips."

@@raze_6593 To be fair, Mars is very off the beaten path for where the story starts. It's cool if that's actually part of the story, though I do question how Ido knew about all that. Maybe they're worried about how much they can cram into the movies (assuming they get the support for sequels) because it's possible they may not get the chance to make them. So they're trying to include as much as they can just in case. In a way that's counterintuitive, since leaving mysteries for later movies to solve is one way to put in a sequel hook.

I remember reading the manga back in high school like 12 years ago. That cloud wall was explained at the end of one of the volumes. It’s a hydro electric wall or something like that. If someone tries going through it it’ll rip them to pieces. I hope I remembered that correctly.
The manga is more descriptive and so much happens to Alita before she joins the sport. I had a feeling the movie wouldn’t be able to match up to it. They’re packing a whole prequel into a little movie.
Also, also! I remember her being called octopus lips a few times in the manga so I was surprised they gave such emphasis to her eyes than her lips.
It's just water in really high pressure jets, circulating. The water moves at such high speeds that it will pulverize whatever tries to pass through it.
@annuna Yes she did. Someone called her octopus lips. Her eyes are big as far as the other characters see her in the manga as well.
Oh man it has been so long since I read that manga, feels like a lifetime ago. I remember parts but there's whole chunks I've forgotten by now, I should read it again sometime.

Is that a reference to Dark Angel? Because James Cameron took a lot of inspiration for that show from Alita. So "recast with Jessica Alba" has already happened.

hizzouse kakashi That's... Disgusting but cool!
Gross but awesome.
As typical to the usual adaptation movie, they tried to cram waaaay too much story into the runtime. And the romance is pretty yada-yada.
But that CGI and action? God *DAMN* did they nail that.
Well, I'm not complaining. Better than turning one little book about a hobbit into 4 movies
Yeah they did! The action scenes were great! Unlike some Marvel movies where the action is just a tangle of bodies and constant cutaways, the action in this movie actually flowed and you could SEE the fights it was really cool. Totally agree they crammed too much into one movie.
At first look they just tried to cram the whole Hugo-arc into one movie (which narratively makes sense and could have worked and still have been fullfilling action-wise, with the whole hunter warrior and Makaku/"Grewishka" stuff), but then added the Berserker body, dragged some of the Rollerball stuff into it early (Jashugan!...?) for the special effects and randomly gave Ido a wife and a daughter-backstory.
I love the manga (for decades now...) and *did* enjoy the movie. It's close enough to make me happy (and soooo much better than that abysmal OVA we shall not talk about further) but some directorial decisions just left me scratching my head.
Am very much looking forward to a sequel, though. The alterations may as well come together just fine.
It's not the greatest movie, but one of the far better anime/manga adaptiations and still a pretty good movie with awesome action-sequences and impressive CGI, that will likely hold up for a few years.
I'd still recommend anyone who even remotely enjoyed the movie to go and read the manga and then keep enjoying the movie for additional visual pleasure.
Grewishka was more intimidating with his cloak on honestly.
And he's even more intimidating in the manga... his head is supposed to be attached to a sort of cyber-leech body, IIRC. Rather gross. And he eats people's brains because he's an endorphin junkie. Likes his drugs screaming.
Zappan the cyborg might have a voice unit and the face plate movement might be for show only. *ding*

@@memorra You don't matter. And besides, I said Anime not Manga.
@@skins4thewin Those also don't matter, this is CinemaSins, where they sin shit from a cinema. Was the Anime in the theaters? No? Who doesn't matter now? I think its you :)
@@memorra The hell are you even talking about? What matters is that he got his facts wrong. He said this ripped off Thor Ragnarok which it clearly didn't. Why are you talking about stuff that has nothing to do with what I said?
@@skins4thewin Ok let me explain step by step.
1) the line I gave "the books don't matter" is a quote from his video "everything wrong with cinemasins" where they give the basic rules of this channel. So bitching that you said anime and I said books which made you assume I meant manga, is just plain beside the point.
2) Thor Ragnorok came before the Alita *movie*
3) Alita sky city looks similar
4) IT IS A JOKE
5) the source material (be it a cartoon, a comic, or a fucking napkin with doodles on it) is not in any way indicated, referenced or cared about by the creators of this video.
All of these directly relate to what you are talking about. Make sense now? Good it isn't supposed to.
I'll be honest, if you aren't the type of person to at least chuckle at the irony of the fact that it is pretty fucking obvious they didn't rip it off from Thor and that Jeremy is just saying that to incite rage from fanboys like you who absolutely must without hesitation confront them about their completely arbitrary sins not being based in facts, then this channel isn't likely for you.
Have a wonderful day.
All the things listed as being ripped off were ripped off from the original Alita
Remember he only talks about the movie.
He doesn't give a fuck about your hipster shit.
"Oh but the manga was firstttttttttt"
Plus. Its all in good fun, if you watch these as a review... thats your own silly willy fault :)
But Rollerball, from which they ripped off Motorball, pre-dated Alita manga...
@Odd's Channel basically just like your comment :)
@Odd's Channel mannnnnn, make me feel bad :(
Im sorry man, you're good :)
@@hudnoraa1264 I don't think that the change of medium is related to this at all. What started the trope/plot point started the trope/plot point. Following your logic, Jackson's LotR movies would rip off themes from previous fantasy movies, even tho the whole high fantasy genre was spawned by Tolkien's legacy. Besides filmmakers take a lot from manga and anime, in Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Inception, etc there are not just themes and plot points, but whole scenes are taken from Satoshi Kon's animated films. For example, the bath scene with an underwater scream in Requiem for a Dream was lifted from Perfect Blue almost 1:1. Black Swan took the scene with a room filled with animated photos, also from Perfect Blue. Inception is just a remake of Paprika. There is a whole compilation video with side by side comparisons if you're interested.
I loved this movie despite its flaws. Great character development, action scenes. and story.
I saw this movie not knowing anything about it and I loved it. You know a movie is amazing when 2 hours feel like 30 minutes
Same here. I demand a sequel, now!
Happy Accidents. Go in blind. Look it up on yesmovies.com or 123movies.com. Don't look up reviews or anything. Great movie if you're patient.
@@michaelpipkin9942 ill check it out
I saw it 6 times
I went in blind not knowing anything other than it was produced by Cameron and directed by Rodriguez. Wound up seeing it in theaters multiple times and buying the manga. And I am 100% not an anime or manga person.
I thought it was pretty fun flick. And she was like-able. Rare these days.
@LokiTheRevenger Clearly (from the guy with 950 likes on his positive comment) people disagree. Maybe you are just a cynical type who hates anything good? Let me guess... you loved "The Boys"?
@@Pcwarmachine no this movie is mediocre
@@SuperMurray2009 Better than your comment.
@@directentertainmentaplacef8630 it wasn't bad, but it's wasn't good either, there were points in the movie where the plot was hella weak, just like the original anime

Why didnt they take a sin off for 2 time oscar winner Christoph waltz
Raahim Kamaal Because he wasn’t very good in this movie. Granted, he didn’t have much of a script to work with, but he still wasn’t that good.
@@adubis4567 yeah but neither was mahershala ali they took a sin off for him and now that I've accepted that they are not doing inglourious basterds and django unchained I want to see them talk about christoph waltz
Why didn't he take a sin off for dat ass! That's the real question XD
@@raahimkamaal5363 That Mahershala line was great though. Christoph didn't have any good moments in this movie, but that's on the script.
@@raahimkamaal5363 "They dragged poor Christoph Waltz into this, didn't they?" ...... *Ding!*
Everything you described as a rip-off from some recent movie/show is also part of the manga from the early 1990s.
Just sayin'. 😉
ChriZ GaGuRo that’s all I was thinking about when I watched the video XD
Interesting way to call an adaptation, especially since James was really into the series.
Just came here for colonel SS Hans Landaa, and I was not disappointed
"...and Zalem is not such a great place after all once one gets up there." As someone who read the manga, I can say they were pretty damn spot on with that one. XD
"Who am i??" Breaks into Les Mis song "WHO AM I?? CAN I CONDEMN THIS MAN TO MISSOURY"
noooo! not missouri...
The water walls are high pressure water jets that keep things from getting in. In the manga it says the water is powerful enough to cut/obliterate anything trying to get through.
I'm amazed how Cinema Sins and Cinema Wins ding the same things. 😂🤣😂
13:07 that laugh is the best and weirdest things I’ve ever heard on CinemaSins
And that’s saying something
Well Known Fun Fact: Alita's entire body including her clothes is just one big special effect
The bit about red flags made me actually LOL.
The part when he said "my face my face" got me
Laughing
Out
Of
My
Head
loomh doesn't look as cool as lmao tho
*LOOMH*
Did he seriously sin the movie character for loving her NAME?
Why?!
You know u got a good movie when Cinemasins removes sins not one but TWICE.
Honestly that "Well that looks fatal" line was gold and a total mood
But three times!
1: 2 sins off for amputees
2: Alita’s battle awesomeness
3: Madhershala Ali
The animation was good but everything else was cringey as hell I couldn't sit through the dialogue
@@FireHydrantForeheadNyquil Dialogue is cringy in about 99% of all movies. If that keeps you from watching them then you probably don't actually enjoy them very much.
You got to be fucking kidding me. This movie is not good.
the head has its own air supply and battery and nutirent storage, so yes it could survive for a while
Can we acknowledge how overpowered this character is? Like, within 15 hours of this cyborg being active, she completely obliterated some EXTREMELY dangerous robots?!
Considering she's the peak of a weapons race that ended in a war between two planetary governments, causing both of them to stagnate or even regress several hundred years technologically, the acknowledgement of how overpowered she is this:
It's like sending a Terminator up against Battlebots.
She's even more OP in the manga
Dont mind me just waiting for The Minecraft Movie
Me too, but I don't want it to be sinned.
You joke, and that just might happen.
Same here
@Lalisa the queen pewds literally just played the game for us. Why should he sponsor it? I dont even think he likes minecraft if he does 90% of his stuff off-screen in creative mode. He does all the shit for us to entertain us, a very good man.
You should do cinemasins for the movie Evolution. I think you’d have a great time finding all the cliches and hilarious bullsh*t in the movie!
*bullshit
I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT IT'S MY FAVOURITE MOVIE BY NOW...
WELL YOUR COMMENTARY OF THE FLIRTING SCENE OF ALITA AND HUGO WAS SOO FUNNY....
This was one of the funniest ones yet. The kitchen torch reference in particular had me giggling like a fool for 30min.
1st time i got turned off.. Alita is way older then the movie Thor Ragnarok or the Island .. if anything Holywood stole from the Manga/Anime..
It's called comedy.
@Odd's Channel It's called comedy. That you fail to recognize that doesn't change anything.
@Odd's Channel I'm sure that some people find it funny

Also she is not completely amnesiac. Her subconscious is not damaged. I think those things would be further explained in sequels.
This is one of the flaws of the movie. Nowadays, you can't just have a stand-alone film and things that don't get explained have to be explained in a sequel.
So... Useless in light of not being in the current movie?
@@notmyrealname453 For example, Kill Bill first volume (2003), leaves details unsolved about the protagonist and her past till it's sequel. Sometimes, to explain complex stuff, a writer/director may preffer to do it through "chapters" so we can synthesize the information step by step and not all at once in just one movie. The order doesn't have to be always the same. What I mean is... hell, you can explain things later, I wouldn't say it's a sin, a flaw, ilegal or whatever. It's a matter of taste I guess.
0:21 the manga publish in 1991. There already the midsky city. Thor ragnarok steal this
You sinned this? It’s my favourite no joke 😂😂
"no movie is without sin" but tbh alot of the sins where flawed due to most sins where explained in the movie i guess he just didn't pay attention. i loved the movie as well and sad that a sequal might come at the earliest 2022 if ever :(
JakeDarko Seriously that late for a sequel? I’m pretty sure it was a comic but I don’t intend finding out the story through that..
@@TylerNC72 from what ive heared Cameron was not in the mood of making a sequel. i hope he changes his mind :)

Also CinemaSins is trash.
The end of the movie broke me tbh T-T
Much better than I was expecting it to be.
9:02 that's not dry ice, it's water at high pressure. The kind that real-life industrial machines use to cut metal. In the manga it's used as defensive system.
You take that back about Danny Boyle.
