    Dude, I have a MX7000 and I had already saw this video ten times, bercause I regularly forget something. Today I installed a button to select the menu without opening the case, and I want to thank you: this video has been useful more than one time.

    With the pins it is really easy to use those female jumper cables and a solder them to a momentary switch, then open the case and slide it on. I do wonder if these TV's have a battery for the settings. I have the idea it resets to default some times.

    Nice Vid! I added a momentary push button on my MX6000 so that it's easier to access the service menu whenever needed, planning to do it to my other MX7000 with older SW as well. Another thing that might be good to know is that at least on my MX7000 SW 4.70, i need to press MENU > 1, 1 > GO to access the Service menu whilst on my MX8000 it's MENU> 0, 0 > Go, on the BEO4 Remote.

    For info, my mx7000 software is 2.0 and the remote code didn’t work, shorting the jumper work - was surprised by the delay in shorting the jumper and the info screen popping up.

    Nice one for this video. I just bought an MX7000, Im hoping it will be a later model one, the sticker on the reverse says SW4.4 but I was also told that these are not always reliable. I am going to pick up the unit on the weekend so I will test which software version it is when i collect. Your video may be very helpful if it turns out it is the older model

    MS6000, SW 1.2 and Beolink 1000 remote: I can access the service menu by shorting but then do you know what I should press on the Beolink 1000 that is the equivalent of the Beolink 4's Next button? I'm just stuck on the "last error" row of info and if I press the wrong button I exit or nothing happens. Thanks in advance!

    Hi, I just got this TV as well with a replacement remote and I noticed the sound is coming out of one side; I also noticed that the sound menu is unavailable when pressing the menu button (and I noticed the same with yours). Before I try to open it and see if there's a bad solder joint somewhere, do you know if there's a way to access the menu on the sw 1.1 version?
    Thanks!

      On remote control, press MENU button > then go to OPTIONS > then go to SOUND
      Here you will need to adjust the BALANCE parameter (make sure it stays in the middle). You should have the sound Balance on both LEFT and RIGHT speakers

    • @modology
      @modology  4 года назад

      hi i am not sure how but i assume that there is a SERVICE mode prong on the pcb. You need to open up the PCB, locate that SERVICE mode prong (two metal prong), use screw driver to short these two prongs together and I believe that should allow you to access Service mode. But then again, i don't have MX3500, thus i can't confirm whether this method works....

      hi, the value wont work because there are no universal value at all. Each B&O Crt have different value that is manually tweaked at the factory... so yeah.. you need to play around with the value on your set. There are no such thing as default settings value at all sadly

    • @modology
      @modology  4 года назад

      you will need to use service mode quite often if you want to adjust the geometry etc... for each game. Best advice is to solder the wire into those two prongs and the wires then soldered into the a push button, then you can perhaps drill a small hole at the back of the case and put the push button in there. Everytime you need to access service mode, you can just press on the push button instead of opening up the case again

      @@modology hi, I'm new here, don't even know whether you're still active or not.
      By following this short video of yours and this "push button" trick: do you think it is safe to add such a button for a guy like me: able to change light switches, solder some wires, but never ever opened any crt open.
      So: I just open it up, do NOT touch anything at all: just safely solder a button with two wires on the servicemode pins, drill a hole on the tv where it makes sense, but the button there, and close the back of the tv is it was.
      What are your thoughts?

  • @JorisKeijser
    @JorisKeijser 6 лет назад

    I see you have the same "last error" as me. Error "pf". Do you have any idea what it means? I received an MX 7000 yesterday. SW 4.7 with Beo4. Looks near mint. Had a lot of calibration and geometry issues somehow so I went ahead and fixed those. Then as I was done and went to bed I remembered wanting to try one more thing so I headed back, but when I went to turn it on all it did was give the static noise and green lights for a split second (turns on for split second) and then revert back to standby mode with the red light. It also seems so give off a slight burning smell from within the case, but I don't know if that was there before. I was wondering if the error had something to do with it. Research shows it's likely to be a shorted or disconnected component somewhere, so I'll have to open it up. You talking about those high voltages makes me nervous though. Is there always electricity present, or just when turned on (for service menu)?

    • @modology
      @modology  6 лет назад

      It looks like to me that the capacitors inside the tv are burnt and damaged. You should open it up and replaced the damaged capacitors. This is very common issue due to dry capacitors (due to old age)

    • @modology
      @modology  6 лет назад

      Regarding the error, I myself don't understand what Error Pf means as well but I think you can look into the service manual for more details.

    • @JorisKeijser
      @JorisKeijser 6 лет назад

      @@modology I'm still not sure what the error means either, but I was thinking it may simply mean "Power Failure"? I have the original user manual with it but it doesn't really go into the technical or service details. I mean it doesn't even tell you SCART 1 has RGB for example, that's how untechnical it is.
      Anyway, I may have done something stupid but I'm not sure. I opened up the back and started looking for anything that looked burned, but I was very afraid to come too close and didn't want to touch anything so I didn't get too good of a look. Didn't find anything but I noticed it had the service menu pins, even though it supports it via remote. So for some reason I thought, what if I short them, and while shorted turn on the TV? I thought it may bypass something or reset something, IDK. So that's what I did. Plugged in the power, put it in standy, shorted the pins with a screwdriver, and hit TV on the remote to turn it on. Nothing. Couple more presses. Nothing. Then I took the screwdriver off the pins, and boom! It turned on and stayed on! BUT! It started flashing (electricity like a taser) and crackling and smoking at the bottom of the TV, like the actual underside of the TV close to where the SCART inputs are located. I quickly unplugged it and thought that would be it. Went to take a look at the bottom of the TV and there were indeed a lot of burned looking components, which I assume were fine before since I hadn't seen, heard or smelled this much shorting before.
      Again, I thought it was gone for good. But I remembered that while it was shorting, it did stay on! LOL. So, again, with my probably stupid brain, I wanted to try to turn it on again, normally this time, to see what it would do. Turned it on, and.... it works!? It freaking works! Everything works!😅 I have no idea what happened but I have since tested every funtion I was able to use before and nothing misbehaves or is out of order. All inputs work, all menu's and their funtions work including the sevice menu (which still says last error pf btw), the speakers work and nothing seems wrong with the picture. It's been running fine for two days now.
      So what do you think could've happened? What is located on that board (again on the underside, under the scart inputs, "behind" the grey plastic frame)? Can't be anything too important? Or did I just set up my TV for creating fires? If you have any info or thoughts about this I would like to hear it! I'm just amazed it still works fine though.

    • @modology
      @modology  6 лет назад

      That's good news that the tv is still fully functional. I would not leave the tv unchecked knowing that there is something not right with all of those burning smell. I would recommend you take the boards out and inspect them carefully

    • @JorisKeijser
      @JorisKeijser 6 лет назад

      @@modology Yeah it's nice it still works, but I still don't feel 100% good about it either ofcourse. I mean there must be something wrong with it. And while being a possible safety hazard is bad enough, it also makes me wonder if the picture and sound should be better and stuff. It looks pretty good though now. Pretty good geometry now as far as I can tell, though I don't have a way to run 240p test suite unfortunately so it might be worse than I think. It does have slight deformations like a +-3 degree rotation and the some other minor things. But all in all, PS2 looks good with PS1 (240p) and PS2 games, especially with the contrast screen removed. And sound is pretty nice too though It does start distorting at volume 60 on PS2 (but I did notice scart's audio is about double as loud as composite, so it might be a compatibility issue?), does it do that for you too? It also seems to be mostly the left woofer first that starts to make a unhealty noise. And when muting the TV it is also that left speaker that makes a popping noise. Do you have that too? And BTW, when using 480i content, when things are still the picture looks really smooth, but when they start moving vertically across the screen, they basically turn into 240p and get scanlines. Single color textures like walls and stuff, if you move the camera up and down you get a scanlined image moving up and down, and when you stop it becomes 480 again. Is this normal? Cause I also got a free Trinitron (which has a ton of problems too so that's why I don't dare to use it as a reference), and it has this same effect. Is this just something that comes with 480i, like the horizontal interlacing lines?
      Finally, do you have any info on how to properly and safely take the boards out for inspection and repair? Cause these things are lethal. Could you perhaps make a video? Thanks!
