When you have not inserted any coins into the machine, if you hold START ---> the Pick n Mix menu will appear. This pick'n'mix replace the shitty menu originally comes with the 161-in-1 cart (with terry bogard sprite). Not sure why you want to turn off pick'n'mix feature?

If you dont hold START button upon POWER ON the cabinet, it will not trigger the Pick'n'Mix mode at all

@@modology I didn't hold start button at all when it power up. But it still turn on picknmix mode itself .. when i exit the game

On the MVS board, turn Physical Dip switch 1 to on. Select game in Menu, this will boot the game up in test mode. Change your soft dips/settings as you wish. Exit test mode. The system will prompt you to turn Dip 1 off. After you do so, the game will reboot in regular mode with your settings changed. You will have to do this for every single game that you want to set to Freeplay.

On remote control, press MENU button > then go to OPTIONS > then go to SOUND Here you will need to adjust the BALANCE parameter (make sure it stays in the middle). You should have the sound Balance on both LEFT and RIGHT speakers

your tv Sony KV-14FV1U is very different with Sony BVM D24. D24 can handle multiple resolution from 240p or lower, to very high like 720p, 1080i, etc... Meanwhile Sony KV-14FV1U is a consumer tv that can only handle 240p 15khz, any resfresh rate higher than 15khz, your tv can't handle the signal at all thus you wont be able to get pictures to show up properly. Try to setup the modeline for 320x240 for your tv and see if it displays properly. So in VMMaker, click Edit Settings, and then choose "NTSC TV 60hz/525", then edit "usermode.ini" to have some 320x240 @ 6000000 aux. Good luck

@@modology Thanks for replying. I'm very aware of the BVM D24 and its capabilities, although I don't have that model due to cost and availability. I also know that my set is a consumer 15khz only, I have other CRTs here that have higher resolution, such as an EDTV that does 480p but no higher (Panasonic TX-36PD30) and some higher res 31khz VGA monitors, like the CPD-E400. I love CRTs and try to learn about all kinds, yours is by far my favorite and my only lament is not having one. But back to my KV-14FV1U - now, I managed to get an image and have it display properly at 480i, and I'm very happy with it. That being said, whenever I choose any of the lower resolutions that are now offered by the list under display settings, I get a garbled image, including 320x240. I don't understand why, since it's displaying 480i. However, when I check "Advance display settings", it seems to only display those, and 640x480 60Hz Interlaced is on that list. When I choose that, it works, only at 120Hz Interlaced at the Refresh Rate option, when I click on that and change it to 60Hz, it stops working, naturally. So the issue is that no matter what resolution I choose on the list generated by VMMaker, the Active signal resolution always remains 640x480 from Windows, and nothing really changes. Every resolution I choose below 480 does not work. When I choose 320x240 for monitor 2, for example, it displays a garbled image, and when I go to Advanced Settings, it says: Desktop resolution: 320 x 240, Active signal resolution: 1024 x 768, Refresh rate: 60.000 Hz. So I think that the problem is that when I change to 240p, Windows for some reason sends it to my second monitor a 768p image and I can't figure out how to stop that. I did paste 320 x 240 @ 60.000000 aux on both user modes super and user modes ini, relaunched VMM, generated and installed, and still, garbled image and actual 768 sent to my CRT. I don't know what else to do, to days of reading and trying everything to no avail, but at least I got 480i.

@@modology I finally got it. I had to go on VMMaker select second monitor from the list and Enable EDID emulation. I had done that before and lost signal, but this time I didn't, and was able to choose 320x240 from the Display Setting list of resolutions, and this time, I got no garbled image, but good old 240p. Edit: Never mind, although the desktop resolution is 320x240, the active signal resolution is 640x480 60Hz Interlaced, so it doesn't look like 240p at all, just everything smaller. I'll just stick with 480i and call it a day, ot what I wanted, but it's better than nothing.

@@hellbillymods45 have you tried to disable all other output ports in VMMaker? HDMI disabled, Displayport Disblade, etc... only Analog DVI or VGA is enabled? Also did you install Crt emu driver properly? For most windows, crt emu driver can only run in WINDOWS TEST MODE. you know if you installed driver correctly when you can see all the custom modelines available. also try to hook up to only one monitor at a time. It seems like something playing up in multiple monitor setup in your windows. For my windows, i just use Mirror option for multiple monitor

@@modology Thanks for answering again. All the other output ports were disabled, and only the VGA was enabled with EDID emulation. However, as it is (480i on second monitor) works without EDID emulation, just no 240p. Yes, I installed it correctly, checked the right version and got it says "test mode" on the corner before my wallpaper kicks in, and on the second monitor, which has no wallpaper, the message is there on the corner, so it's definitely working. I think you're onto something about the dual monitor setup, that's probably causing some anomaly. That being said, I can't have that setup right now because this PC is our main form of entertainment and work, so I cannot turn it off or risk messing it up, but duplicate/mirror might work, as long as I can come back to my main monitor safely.

RGB scart is supposed to be highest quality signal that you choose. S-Video is not comparable

wont help much. 4:3 aspect ratio is still plagued wity digital artifacts. you wont get sharp pixels. it is basically the same digital artifacts on 100hz tv. stick with mx7000,mx8000 for retro consoles. just dont get this tv

you need unibios4 and 161-in-1 multicart (wont work on any other carts) Once you have those two, it should work just like the video describe.

I hope you find the tutorial useful. you can also buy this device arthrimus.com/product/picknmix-fix-for-neo-geo-mvs-universe-bios-v4/ This will automaticaly hold the button upon powered on to get into pix'n'mix mode for you. So you dont have to do anything at all. Just power on the cab and play

Olufsen because: 1. Buillt in speakers (really good) 2. Hess less tv lines which is great for retro consoles (BVM has 1000 TVL, make the scanline super thick which is very ugly) 3. Olufsen is much cheaper

hi, the value wont work because there are no universal value at all. Each B&O Crt have different value that is manually tweaked at the factory... so yeah.. you need to play around with the value on your set. There are no such thing as default settings value at all sadly

you can use computer power supply as well but Arcade Powersupply is much easier to wire up and also easier to adjust voltage

you will need to use service mode quite often if you want to adjust the geometry etc... for each game. Best advice is to solder the wire into those two prongs and the wires then soldered into the a push button, then you can perhaps drill a small hole at the back of the case and put the push button in there. Everytime you need to access service mode, you can just press on the push button instead of opening up the case again

@@modology hi, I'm new here, don't even know whether you're still active or not. By following this short video of yours and this "push button" trick: do you think it is safe to add such a button for a guy like me: able to change light switches, solder some wires, but never ever opened any crt open. So: I just open it up, do NOT touch anything at all: just safely solder a button with two wires on the servicemode pins, drill a hole on the tv where it makes sense, but the button there, and close the back of the tv is it was. What are your thoughts?
