    NOTES:
    Year: 2018
    Make: Chevrolet
    Model: Colorado
[Comment: This is a mid-sized pickup truck that retails for about $32,000
The Colorado has a ton of different configurations. This one is the "2018 Chevy Colorado LT 3.6L V6 4WD Short Box, Crew Cab"]
    Trim: LT
Extra: Crew Cab, Short Box (Box length: 61.70 in) with 4WD
    MSRP: $31,995
    Engine: 3.6L V6 VVT engine
    Transmission: 8-speed automatic transmission
    Horsepower: 308 hp
    Towing Capacity of 7,000 lbs.
    MPG City: 17
    MPG Highway: 24
    Fuel Tank Capacity: 21 gallons
    Cost for a full tank: $2.80/gallon (in the Chicago suburbs) x 21 = $58.80
    Bed Length: 61.2"
    Towing Capacity: 7,000 lbs
    Payload Capacity: 1,574 lbs
[Comment: I generally like driving pickup. I enjoy being higher up, because it gives you better visibility and I like the added power that most pickups have.
And you get both power and visibility with the Colorado. Acceleration is...nice. I certainly didn't feel like the fastest car on the road, but I also never felt like I had to wait for the Colorado to catch up with what I was asking it to do.
So, what's it like to actually drive this truck?
Handling is also nice, although I didn't feel completely stable around ever curve. The truck didn't slip or pull, nothing like that, I just didn't feel as stable as I'm used to. And that's probably because I've been driving a lot of sedans lately so I was anticipating a different feel going around long curves.
Anyway, I'm rambling. Long story short, the Colorado accelerates well and handles like you'd expect. All in all it a good ride.

You left out a couple of features. You can remove the cup holder lining. It's rubber and removable. Also great for cleaning. After removing it you can place larger bottles in the holder if you prefer. Secondly. Note to the left of the steering wheel is a slot in the dash. That is actually a built in card-reader. It can be used to read security cards for gate access to restriced areas when activated by your employer etc. I don't like the fact there is no lock for the fueling area. Also I'd prefer a gas cap since someone can put water or other chemicals in the tank since it's such "Easy access". I have this truck.

For those of you who are so concerned about comparing a Colorado to an F150, the idea was to show that this mid-sized truck's towing capacity was comparable to a full sized F150 , i.e. 5k - 8k for the F150 vs 7k for the Chevy; meaning the smaller truck has good towing capacity even if it is not full sized. I found the review of the Colorado to be very informative.

I bought a used 2017 good thing I found some structural damages on it, the dealer did take it back , the two issues that I noticed the 1st couple of days was the BIG clunk when shifting from drive to reverse and also a rear whine in the axle. I did end up buying 2016 V6 crew cab Lt with 45,000 miles CERTIFIED no issues so far, I definitely bought the extended warranty. Love this truck

I already went in and sat down to talk about it, took it for a test drive, crunched some numbers on mileage plans & my intended down payment, they told me get my credit up to 700 or better and I'm golden. Can't wait to drive this home in a couple months.

F150 is not fair competitor to the Colorado. Lol They’re a different class. The Colorado is a midsize truck. Competitors GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma, Honda Ridgeline, and Nissan Frontier. The F150 is a full size truck. Competitors Chevy Silverado 1500, Dodge Ram 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra. In my opinion the GMC Canyon is the best midsize truck. The interior is just like the Colorado. But more luxurious.

Actually, I just bought a Colorado LT. Once you add leather with the luxury package, and click on the Bose upgrade and add the safety package you basically have the same luxurious interior as the Canyon's SLT. There is the one exception. The Denali. In that it appears to have a higher grade perforated leather seats and a few wood simulated pieces. The big difference is the 20" wheels on that. Except for the Denali I don't see any real differences in trim. In fact, Chevy's Z71 and fully loaded LT's look better imo. But in the case of the SLT canyon your going to pay a few thousand more then a loaded out Z71/LT chevy and basically get the same truck.

No issues no complains, when in cruise control I get 25-32 driving on the freeway. when not in cruise control I get 18-24 depends on your foot..Mods I did a leveling kit front only, bigger tires. Nothing bad to say...2015 did not came with a back window..would of been nice..i do recommend..i also tested the Toyota, because I am 6' I felt like I had more room on the Colorado. Nissan didn't liked..Ford ranger wasn't out yet..didn't needed a big truck..

I've purchased mine in 2016 with 2 miles on it. A black one like this one, w/leather interior, bose system. Didn't it had any issues until recently, FYI to everyone .. When I driving somewhere and shifted to "P" (parking) and turn the switch key off - Well the switch doesn't turn all the way off, to pull out the key, gets stock. For the switch to release the key like any other normal vehicle. What I end up doing is to turn the switch key on position, but don't start the engine. Then I press the brake-pedal, move up / down the shift-handle between "P" - "D" and back to "P" (parking). At that point I've turn the switch key to off and the key is released to me. ..What I think is that the computer doesn't register fast enough that I have shifted the truck to "P" (parking), and that is why the switch key doesn't turn to off to release the key. Anyways, other than that everything is great. I need to take it to the dealership before my warranty expires and hopefully this issue is cover/fixed. So far as of now Jan/2019 the millage is at 29k.

    • @HiPlains1
      @HiPlains1 5 лет назад +3

The tacoma is a pile. On the third generation they went to a new 3.5 V6 and six speed. The transmission is a hot mess. Does a ton of "gear searching" and is a dog. 0-60 takes well over 9 seconds. You have to use ECT mode to tow anything. Gas mileage is worst in the segment. Or right down there with the 14 year old Frontier with the 4.0 V6. But at least Nissan's 4.0 litre is not underpowered. I'd take that over a tacoma. Test drove the Tacoma twice because I really wanted to like it. And they look pretty good. But until they refresh that mess of a transmission I'd stay away. Or possible find one with the 6 speed manual which I've heard works pretty well and they still offer it. Problem being they are very rare and almost impossible to test drive one. I never could find one so I bought a colorado which drives 100 percent better. 8 speed transmission is years ahead of toy.

    • @stevenm4743
      @stevenm4743 5 лет назад

I test drove the colorado and the taco, the colorado ran a little better that the taco but I bought the taco for the following reasons:
      1. The colorado in my area is obscenely overpriced. Almost 10k more than the taco.
      2. Reliability, lets face it, the Toyota’s are just more reliable
      3. For 10k less the taco still has features that the colorado the dealer priced for me didn’t have, gps, wireless charger, electric rear window, adaptive cruise control, lane departure, cubbies in the bed, a/c plug in the bed, tail gate assist, composite bed, adjustable tie down system.
And for the record, the tacos are a little tight when new and need to be broken in. I live in an area with varied terrain and after about 500 miles of break in my taco was shifting great, accelerates very well, and only down shifts when I want to pass or go up a hill. I definitely made the right choice, I’m loving my taco.

I just bought a loaded out LT crew cab Colorado with luxury package/leather/bose stereo with 3" off road steps, etc.. and IMO looks better then the Canyon. Interior is essentially the same but the GMC will still cost a few thousand more. The one exception is the Denali. With that you get monster 20" wheels and perforated leather seats with some simulated wood pieces. Hardly worth the extra 4K if you ask me. Even rarer is when they order one with the luxury chrome package which is required if you want leather seats. If you order all three, bose, luxury package, and leather options then good like finding it. Amazes me how vehicles in this day and age can refuse to give us basic features, specially for the cost. No pockets on the back of the seats? Really? Chevy cant afford spending $5 to put those in?? Tiny cup holders in the front. That water bottle was massive, I don't know why he says "standard" size water bottle, but those cup holders are shallow as hell. Again with the massive shifter which does NOTHING. Shifters are outdated and do not actually "shift" the gears, they are digital and not mechanically attached to anything. Chevy could easy take that out and give decent cup holders in that space. The volume paddles are idiotic, just add a little extra space on the front of the steering wheel for more buttons, geeze its not that hard. Gauges behind the wheel look like they are from 1999, such a tiny viewing area for such a large vehicle. I really don't know why the companies don't offer better products for the price since they don't really cost the company any more to be engineered better. These are all just design decision with no actual overhead cost involved.

I having a Colorado LT build but I added the Luxury/chrome package which gives you the projector HID headlights. The Z71 And Zr2 also come standard with projectors. Thing about Chevy is you can trim it out anyway you want. You get what you pay for. Colorado's start at around 21K if not less.

I just got this truck last week. Looking at it I think they need fender flares. Not the big rivet style, stock GM. More aggressive tires would help, but I don't mind these since I drive highway.
