sorry y'all, the air hose threw off the audio in the first part. the audio gets better at 12:35 when we walked away from the bench
Chief have someone order parts for you.
Hidden connection to y'all tho.
Not that I thought it was Jackie's fault but so glad to hear it wasn't.
I didn’t even notice a really loud air leak at all when I watched it
Hey guys… are you folks looking for parts?
Only one thing to do. Fix the suggested faults and see if it happens again. If it don't happen then you got it, but if it do........ Well shit lol
Great content, I'm an lifelong gearhead and still learned something. This format is waaay better than the tv show.
Gerald needs a youtube channel. I love talking to humble engine builders.
he was talking about making one actually
@@MidwestStreetCarsAuto Help him get that setup, exchange of services :)
Good engine builders do NOT "need a RUclips channel" and least of all.to "talk to" people with no clue NO real pro is "humble" about what he or she does "for a living". They don't have time, energy or patience for people that would rather talk than do.
We’re pretty lucky Jackie smashed the life out of this just to provide us with quality RUclips investigation content. 😂 Thanks for the detail and sharing.
im just making sure there's no weak links lolol
@@MidwestStreetCarsAuto Yup, can stamp it fully tested.
Your engine guy was backing you; that it should have lived happy at the lower rpm burnout chip.

@@MidwestStreetCarsAuto you mean besides your infidelity?
@@youtubefunnies they're going to try to steal your identity
Chief, you are a Very fortunate man. Jackie is switched on, paying attention, and learning quickly. You guys are fun to watch. I can't wait to see he kick some ass at the track. You will be like a proud papa watching his kid hitting a home run. You'r living the dream.
Always great to hear the advice and knowledge given from the older generation.
Just a note. We have built many Chevy engines for circle track. That oiling problem you had is one that we fixed by drilling a hole with a #10 or #12 fitting in the front where an original small blocked off or possibly just a flat spot is there. This feeds the main oil gallery for the mains FROM THE FRONT. We blocked off the passage from the filter housing area that feeds the rear of the motor first. Then put a filter adapter plate with a#10 or #12 fitting out to a remote filter with an in/out to the new fitting in the front of the motor. This feeds all the mains evenly. We also put in .060 restrictors from the mains feeding the cam bearings. This keeps more oil to the mains feeding the rods because the cam bearings don't need that much oil. Hope this helps you out....
Really valuable info and a fine solution to an issue
This was so satisfying to watch in so many ways! We knew, well most of us, that it wasn't Jackies fault.🤘
I`d say Gerald definitely knows his stuff, great content as always!!
but is it gerald or gerald
@@justinshearer3016 That IS the question!! LOL
Or is it Gerard?
Or is it,
"Shherald Foord" (Gerald Ford, SNL skit) 🤣. Look it up
Gosh dang I’m loving this whole in depth process of problem solving you’re going through. Obviously ya don’t wanna see these things happen but because it had this helps me learn what to look for also. Appreciate it all.
Killing the content lately guys ... Appreciate it.. Midwest street cats to the front 💪 lol
yaaa buddy
Better then street outlaws can't even watch that bs anymore big chief made the show
@@Dee-uz5nu I'm right there with you man.. don't even know what's going on on the show I do follow a few guys social medias to see what's going on with NPK and I'll see what murder Nova's up to on social media pretty-much RUclips once in awhile I honestly like their YT channels better than the show any day
@@Dee-uz5nu I agree with you. It's not the same without Big Chief
@@Dee-uz5nu
The very last times I watched any Street Outlaws TV was the NPK season 4 final episode and I've only seen episode 1 of America's List 2 without BIG Chief!
Besides RUclips, I personally never had any nor do I currently own even a single social media account of any kind! So after I watched Street Outlaws on TV for the very last time I've basically cut em ALL off for good and now ONLY support Mr. BIG Chief & Miss. Jackie and all of their adventures 💯
As soon as I've seen how the TV producers, the production crew, all America's List racers, especially the whole OKC crew handled Chief's departure, and how they all considered against Chief to gang up on him just to kick him to the curb in order to take over his leadership role made it ALL clear to me ☝
I knew right there and then that the Street Outlaws franchise as a whole, was nothing more then a dead man walking who's just barely running on fumes and that it's only a matter of time till it ALL went up in smoke across the board 💯
MIDWEST STREETCARS for the WIN 💯
👍😎👌
I’m sorry that happened to you all. I’m sure Caddy Jack will come back stronger and faster than it was. Man I saw that sexy Vette in the background, can’t wait to see it making hits to. Keep up the good work.✌️😎👍
Well hopefully you can get it back together soon and we can see how fast it will really go. Good luck.
Hopefully you can get this turned around in a reasonable amount of time. Gerald seems like a really cool & insightful dude. I would love to pick his brain about what he likes after building so many.
Chief I’m an old drag racer from way back & always had two oil gauges with one running from the Front of the motor. I was spinning 327’s - 406’s tight & that Front gauge saved me more than once from complete trashes. Love you guys y’all are awesome!
An interesting learn for me; oil pressure could be good on and at the guage but not necessarily throughout the whole system. Good to know.
It's cool listening to a builder, that just by looks, knows who's parts are in the build... hope the motor goes back together quick....
It's a shame there's not many young people stepping up to fill the shoes of people like Gerald, that knowledge is irreplaceable
This is no joke! It will become harder and harder to get a good, local small machine shop engine as the years go by. There will always be good stuff from the big operations out there but the 1-5 man shops will be drying up in no time if the younger generation doesn’t get involved.
Ya, it’s a shame. Seems like machine shops are dieing out
Yea I agree within the next 10 years you'll have to go to either commercial sized shops with 15-20 or more people always working or you'll have to go to big named shops and you'll never get the one on one personal experience and you'll have to adopt out a kid or pimp out your wife in order to afford just the machine work on your engine and I don't know if it's by choice or what but Bill and Billy from SRC and Old Man's Garage go to a machine shop that is out in the country where nobody else is around him but he has a small shop and only has a few employees and they get the personal one on one experience but that's not saying much considering it looks like they live out in the country themselves except for when they go somewhere then it looks like their not too far away from the city and it doesn't look like they are too far away from downtown Cincinnati and they have been using the same machine shop for as long as I can remember so I think it's by choice
Most of them have an Oculus on there face!
This. The man called the stroke of a main crank just by looking at it.
Wow, I learned alot through this diagnosis...thanks for taking the time to make this video !...
Absolutely love how in-depth Big Chief gets about everything. I've never seen anybody else talk about all the details of their tuning so many specifics I'm not even a car guy and I love it cuz it's so educational and fascinating. I used to just love watching them race but now having some understanding of how in-depth and complicated and all the hard work and experience and intelligence that goes into Tuning these cars it's mind-boggling. These guys are freaking rocket scientist and it just makes me love them even more and what they do. Good job Big Chief and Jackie awesome Channel.
He's knocking it out of the park with their videos.
This is one of the main reasons why I subscribed to your channel. no sugar coated bs this is just like hanging out with your friend at his garage. I really dig the vibe here. You two will get this all done right and you can stick it to em. A man that works on his own stuff appreciates it moor that a guy who just buys it.
Idk it’s less headache sometimes if you have a motor built but someone that knows what they are doing as well as the kinda abuse you’re gonna put the engine through. Unless you yourself are that good 😂 I know I’ve built 2 motors I still hate to this day and gave up on both of them. But I learnt from them and no have gotten way better and have a pretty nasty nitrous and boosted motors both sbf probably reason behind my first 2 struggles but I’m my around here I was the first little 8.2 deck sbf’s into the 4’s locally with them . Turbo car i street drive and no one in town can touch it! Never had a full dyno session with it but from 1/8 times it’s around 1800hp as it sets on the street now my fast n/t car I had that motor built and knock on wood haven’t had a problem yet with it in 2 seasons and I have it refreshed after each season and everything has always been great.
I hear Jackie giggling in the background Haha 😂 I li hate your engine broke but love when y’all do investigation videos especially with Gerald.
Screw the haters we knew it wasn’t Jackie’s burnouts,Jerald is wealth of knowledge sure hope some young guys are working for him to learn😊 Great video love y’all
The amount of knowledge that man possesses is astronomical🤯
You can tell that being told to wait 24 weeks for rods really pisses Justin off. 😂
you have no idea lolol......to the point where i want to start machining my own lol
@Justin Shearer I'm with you man. I had a Dart LS Next 6 bolt 427 I ordered in October of 2021 and it took 8 months between waiting for rods and the block lol
@@justinshearer3016 yep i do all my own work
Hey cheif is it garold or gerold?? Did you ask him?
@@justinshearer3016 I’m sure everyone has had this idea maybe even you but. Doesn’t McDoogle have anything laying around? By the way the podcasts were amazing, and I still listen to them on my way to work in the morning. 😎
Very cool big Cheif. Love that video to. I'm really getting back into watching now. I've been watching u since pinks.
The show just isn't the same with out u. I hope ur planning on coming back or something bro??? Miss ya man! U and Jackie are making good vids. Thanks.
Gerald is good shit. Find more reasons (less expensive reasons, lol) to have him on the channel
jackie got him talked into starting his own channel, look for more gerald soon! lol
I just love a craftsman like Gerald. You can never beat experience. The difference between guessing and knowing is all the hard work that he has put in over the years...🙏🙏🙏
Thank you guys for this. How real and informative. It's always nice to have outside intelligent opinions. Stay safe
Funny how we are supposedly in the industrial ago and we are gonna reach singularly within 10 years yet we don't even have enough people or machines making automotive parts or chip boards for electronics !
yea boss....the world is a scary place when sbc parts arent in stock...like wtf has happened
That's good news Jackie ! It's not your fault. Hell yeah 💪
At least the engine can be repaired. You could really see the relief on chiefs face. He trust everything that guy said to him. Nice guy to know. Good luck ..God bless you two.
gerald has never steered us wrong, we have all the faith in the world in him
This has been the best video in awhile. I like seeing you a touch out of your element not quite sure what to do or needing someone to guide your direction. Gerald seems very knowledgeable and you obviously value his opinion. Entertaining and information.
Also, I'm totally cool with the Midwest street cats. Need to make stickers.
I used to think that I knew something about a small block back in the early 70s. Now? It just gives me a headache thinking about it??? I Just LOVE you guys even at this age in my life while having to use a scooter to get around... LOL...
Jackie with the quick kill saved that deal quite a bit
Yeaaaaaaah buddy, love a chicken or egg investigation 😂💚🏁
"Are you a gambling man?" is the absolute LAST thing you wanna hear from your engine builder 😂😂
That was cool!!’
Thank you!!!
"It didn't run long"
Shout out to Jackie for shutting it down.
Good to see you guys back we need okc back to✌️❤️
Well, after this I'm confident once you get this thing back together it's not gonna grenade for lack of oil again. Gerald sounds like he's been around the block a few times. Especially if he's been machining for you since you were 16. I'm sure he's seen some things and probably put stuff back together that should've went in the trash. 👍
I'd like to see those nicks in the cylinder he said the rings would just slide right over. I just did a blown head gasket that sit for about 5 yrs and a couple cylinders were pitted and I was tempted to send it but I grabbed another block which was pitted a little also, with ring in the block barely could see flash light leaking under the ring, but it was vertical and long enough to pass under all the rings, so finally the 3rd block was good. I've took a pry bar to the flywheel on several engines that was stuck back in the day and they ran fine, no smoke, but I wonder how bad the cylinders really were. Might could have ran those pitted blocks with no ill effects but a vertical pitted area the length of the piston, I just felt like it would torch the piston and rings.
To say he has bend around a lot of blocks would be an understatement 😂 I’ve heard of him but he is way to far away from me too have motor work done. If I was to do all that I’d just have Steve Morris build me an SMX I’d be in it about as much 😂
@@triplehfarmsllc7348 you saying Gerald's prices are up there with Steve's?
@@stevenbelue5496 no but the time and money it would require for me to travel and pay for that and pay him on top of picking everything back up might as well buy a motor from Steve! Idk Gerald’s prices but he is known for his work and I’d say it’s not very cheap and his wait is probably pretty far out for new customers.
Hashing "Not my burnout" lol. Good stuff as always!
Let's go, another much wanted an appreciated update. Hope you two get sumthin figured out and back on the streets before long. Shoutout from NW AR. Stay warm.....
Hey Chief. Huge fan of yours. When I grew up my brother had a 68 GTO which was a LeMans upgrade. He was a gear head/street racer and 10yrs older than me. Unfortunately he passed away almost 20yrs ago from a drunk driver. I'd love to come meet you at an event and take a picture of Mr Crow. You remind of my brother. I live near Denver but I'll travel. Will there be a schedule or update where you may be? I'd be willing to meet you in OKC too. Thank you for the content you and Jackie have been putting out and I can't get enough!!!! 🤘🤘
Damn, that cat is working that night shift hard. But it looks like the money is good. You go girl!!!
It was not Jackie's fault Gerald said so. Im always impressed with Jackie's knowledge of race cars.
Chief is always on point and Gerald was a pleasant addition of knowledge today. Thank y'all......
Good to have a guy like Gerald on call. Very lucky. He knows what he doing. Get that thing fixed and let’s see it on the track again soon.
Big chief is really good at building fast race cars😊
Those cats 🐈 haha they def run the roost around there …

Once that guy gets his hands on it all is going to be awesome. SBC still a pretty good bullet imo
“are you a gambling man?”🤣🤣🤣 That’s never good to hear from your engine guy!🤣🤣🤣
Great stuff. Really enjoy this style content.
Always learning. Gerald seems like a great teacher. This was an awesome episode!
Thanks for this content. I've always loved listening to professionals like Gerald, it all makes sense in the end. By the way, I think her burnouts are pretty sick and I love them. A few videos back when Chief was saying something about the burnouts on the limiter the first thing that came to mind was one of those top fuel throttle stops. Lol. Hope you guys catch a break on finding the needed parts also.

Sounds like the motor was on its way to ejecting a rod from day one. Glad that you guys are figuring out what caused the problem and not just fixing the problem,to only have the problem come back. Hopefully you can get it back together soon. Thanks for another great video. Leaking air line and all 😁
New short block (make sure main bearing tolerances are where they need to be this time), resurface the heads, new valve train and you're good to go.
From watching you over the years I know you have a lot of knowledge on the engines and tuning to the road/ track your running on but it's always good to know someone that has good internal knowledge of a engine to have as a soundboard to bounce your thoughts off of , great video really enjoy watching you and Jackie. Definitely take advice from this dirt track guy he makes them run some laps at 9500rpms consistently!!!
I feel ya on the parts back order. I waited about 6 months on a 55 mm cam for a big block chevy. But i knew it was going to be a wait when it was ordered. I run an hvac supply house, and the back order on shit is insane right now.
I like the analysis. Very thorough indeed. Gerald is a gem. Knowledgeable, and down to earth! Great video!
Love the cats!
Cheif I didn't see but do you have baffles or trap flaps to stop the oil from leaving the oil pump pick up tube? Maybe dry sump to ensure ample oil supply? Also try that Valvoline VR1 br race oil...God Speed. 😎✌🏻
Gerald what a cool guy. Nice to have someone like that to bounce ideas off of and get some knowledge from. Hopefully you guys don’t have any problems getting parts for it. Great video. Lovin’ the in-depth.
Cool and laid back and a bad ass ride
Love this video makes me feel like i was in the garage listening to a guy aka old cat talk his shit about motors bet he’s got some good stories
Gerald probably don't care what you call him, just don't call him late for dinner! ✌😁
just dont call him with a post dated check lol
Doesn't sound too bad to rebuild , got real lucky on the damage ... let's see running ! Soon ! 🤠
Always the best updates and content in the business !!!!
My 2cts. The oil was Too thick. That's why it showed such high oil pressure, it couldn't properly lube the bearing, oil must escape the cap or it'll burn & spin the bearing. Too tight of bearing clearance or too thick of oil. It probably had .0025clearance & needs .004 or .005 . It's a drag engine, not a street engine
ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO AND CONTENT BIG CHIEF AND JACKIE SEE YOU NEXT TIME STAY SAFE

Sucks to be back to waiting for parts, but this seems pretty positive compared to what the outcome could have been. Looks like we’ll see Caddy Jack making race car sounds again soon!
Weld it up, hog it out and make it work again. Don't let that engine off the hook that easy. It owes you now.
