I am in my mid-60s. El Caminos like these were brand new when they left the factory. We raised a few teenagers who loved it. Back in the 70s, I was not too fond of it. However, I can see how awesome the car was. It was a peaceful time in America and the world in the 70s and 80s. Everyone seems to get along well. There were plenty of cheap goods. Only paid $4500 for my new cutlass Supreme. It would be nice to keep it, but I never thought these cars would become classics as a teenager.
Really awesome to see all the cross collaborations between Demo Ranch, Vice grip, Cleetus, and such. I enjoy these channels that are nothing but really humble guys that us normal every day blue collar folks can relate to somewhat.
You and Matt and his father have a good chemistry. Great surprise that several I subscribe to working together. Keep it up, and thank you for what you do.
I would hate to hear what you would say about my 350 in an 81 c10. It was put together under a carport with cheap tools. Runs like a rusty top but I’m proud of it. Got me to work and never broke down.
Derek, Matt owes you EASILY 2 weeks of vacation at the Ranch and letting you shoot everything he has! You worked your ass off on this! Already watched you shoot his MP-7, that was a treat! Thanks for including his cat in the video! Real men love cats! Nice work dude! Truly love your videos!
Love your content Derek. Watching you and Matt work together is awesome. Would love to see more collaborations with other guy hobby oriented (weapons and cars) RUclipsrs. Having Jared in on the Cat Farm Crew Cab then getting that van going was awesome. Please keep up the good work!! Oh, better brakes please, don't want to lose you from little to no stopping power.
Nothing better than after a long day of work to come home and wind down with a new episod of VGG!! You have taught me so much since I’ve started watching!
Well I'll be dipped, TWO of my favorite youtubers working together? must be my lucky day! Saw you shooting his MP7 today as well Derek, and could hardly believe my eyes
Hey Derik, Love the content mate! Great Colab with Matt, we used to have heaps of these down in Australia, we classify them as utilities or Utes for short. Check out Holden or Ford Utes from the 50's to late 2000's mate! The H series Kingswoods from Holden (my personal favs) and Falcons. Keep up the great work!
Sure brings me back to the days I built my own backyard cars with my dad! Especially this one with taking from one and making it happen with another. My last was a 79 shortbed ford with a 460 king cobra out of a boat with a tunnel ram. Thanks sir for bringing good memories!
I grew up on a small hobby farm. 17 acres. We always had what we called "field cars". All they had to do was run. And steer. Brakes we optional. My parents were cool with us smashing around in our cars. One of my friends helped me build a figure 8 race track. Kept us off the streets. At least in our teenage years. Although I was escorted home by the police on a few occasions.
Two of my favourite channels, only new to VGG. To let you know, this type of vehicle was (contestable) invented by Ford in Australia in 33, Lewis Bandt, an engineer at Ford, called a Ford Utility Coupe, in Australia as we don't like using too many letters shorted it to 'Ute'. Ours were based on the Ford and GM sedans. Keep the good work up.
Its a utility vehicle, or ute (sort of pronounced yoot) as we call it in Australia. Man that thing really is in fairly good shape and its looking pretty good with its new coat of paint. This was so good I watched it twice, another classic saved.
Ute is technically a single full length frame chassis like the Commodore ute. Pickup, truck is two frames put together in the middle like the late model Falcons with that join behind the cab. XH, XD Falcon is a ute. Not sure what this thing is yet, looks a ute.
I think it's awesome for a quick down & dirty get it running and painted, it really looks good for the limited amount of time you had to do it in. Keep doing what you do and stay safe. I love the content both here & on Roadworthy Rescues! Awesome as always!
Looking forward to watching VGG every Friday is just like waiting for MASH or Happy Days back in the 1970's. Just watched this on the Demolition Ranch channel. Looking forward to seeing it from Derek's point of view.
Another great revival. Is it a truck? Is it a car? Down in Australia we call that style a ute, short for utility. Ford Oz and GM Holden made some awesome models over the decades before both companies closed up shop here in Oz.
Enjoyed that, especially the working on the engine, as even after working on these for years, Derek gives us a 'tip' or three, and the brain tells me 'yeah, I should have remembered that' and you keep working on it. Sure ran better after that plug was installed!
Who doesn’t love an El Camino? Just think of how majestic it would be to see an 80s el camino towing one of my Fiero’s on a trailer, mullet flowing in the breeze!
Thanks for the info on the Toyota Highlander and the evap problem ! I own a 2010 model, but here in Australia, it's called a Kluger. I love my Kluger and it's AWD .I mostly use it to tow my small pop top camper trailer, which it does with ease ! Love your show ! Cheers..Ray
A genuine man, smart, good heart and excellent job all around! how the hell do you work, shoot and edit footage and have time for anything else? AMAZING. Always interesting, informative and entertaining.
I watched this channel for a long time now. I miss the days when he would find a car, rescue it, and drive it home. It seems like he strayed away from that. Still a good channel w/ quality content. I guess I miss the simpler times.
It'a not as interesting with a million dollar garage and every tool imaginable. It's not how most car guys live. Both these channels make millions a year which is fine but not very relatable.
Amazing collaboration between two awesome channels. Hopefully there will be more opportunities in the future for this to happen again. From seating on the back property for who knows how long to the way this video ended up was an great to watch. I watched both channels' vlogs on this projected and totally enjoyed them both.
The 1406 600s are tuned really mild. The 1405 has different rods and spring. The 1405 is man choke too. I have had alot of luck on mild street cars with the 1406 with the 1405 rods and springs in. Just a thought. Great content!
Dear God seeing that thing being worked on brings tears to my eyes, my dad recently passed away but used to take me weekend joyriding in his as a kid, always promised me it but by the time I was old enough to drive it had sit and rotted the frame out underneath and I couldn't afford to restore it proper, I'd give anything to sit behind the wheel and floor it just one time for pops I know he'd want me to.
You guys did a great job love the paint VGG MAKES MY WEEK!! ❤ THANKS VGG FOR TIME YOU TIME YOU PUT IT TO THESE VIDEOS YOU MAKE MY WEEK WORTH STAYING GONE ALL WEEK.
If hood clearance for the carbs isn’t a problem, you could use the Holley’s with a short spacer. You already have a tunnel ram, which is a huge spacer, but that might help with your figment issue. I like Edlebrokens too though.
Keep up the great work man. Love seeing u and other channels working together. Would be cool if you and cleet did a revival together and drove it home.
I know this wasn’t the forum but I am intrigued with dual carb set ups and a good breakdown would make some content. Even though you aren’t short on content. Keep it up man you’re amazing

Hey Derek, do y'think you could create a playlist of all the collabs you've done over the years? Love the work you and your family do. Take care of yourself.
I was dying laughing when the shop kitten parked his a$$ on the newly applied paint. It was like watching my own life. Whenever I have to paint something outside ,I always have to be on guard for one of my cats coming to investigate the new place to sit. It was also funny seeing you guys leaving a spark plug out. Even the "pros" are only human. LOL. Thanks for all the great fun you provide us.
My cat would probably stay away. She is afraid of new things. But I have to watch my roommate. He has a habit of touching everything. Even more so if I put up a "DO NOT TOUCH" sign.
Had a 1968 Buick LeSabre 2 door back in 1984 and it was a wonderful car with same color & vinyl top. This video was a good flashback for me. When cleaned up it will get a lot of compliments.
This thing turned out great. I've got to say. What a cool paint job I hope a feller gets to doing more of these things because independence needs help to return to the VGG channel it's definitely time to see her pass that torch to the next vehicle and proudly sporting the Stars and bars! We can see that Derick has skills in this type of paint job. She's given her heart freely to get the truck to events. Sure miss that beautiful independence Chevelle it's going to be a hard vehicle to forget about. I still think you are doing a great job with the channel but there's not been much truly great standing out like what you brought to us with little miss liberty and the adventures of the man and the car.! Yes we might miss that beautiful rotting hotrod and know it's not gone or crushed. She was like any relative that was taken apart for a different revival and let her sit in the back as a old friend needing a helping hand. Nice job on this paint job 👍
I saw this video. Awesome job on the El Camino. I gotta say Derek, paint n body is not easy work. You are an excellent mechanic. Did that come out wrong?

Only paid $4500 for my new cutlass Supreme. It would be nice to keep it, but I never thought these cars would become classics as a teenager.
This is the crossover I never knew I needed! Thank you both for the great content!
This the combo we never knew we needed two great guys with even better content.
Great build Derek you nailed it. I'm sure Mat is is thankful for what you did for him
Really awesome to see all the cross collaborations between Demo Ranch, Vice grip, Cleetus, and such.
There great garage lions, they keep your wiring safe from rodents, love my 3, they bring me the dead little critters & I praise them for it, Rj in Oz
Probably the coolest collaboration you’ve ever done Rock on bothers
Just 3 good ole boys having fun working on a car. I'd love to hang out with you guys for a day doing this stuff.
Nothing better than after a long day of work to come home and wind down with a new episod of VGG!! You have taught me so much since I’ve started watching!
Well I'll be dipped. I found your channel and you have went to the top of my list of favorite channels. Thank you feller
The best part of Friday’s is when the new VGG video hits! Thanks for all you and your family do!
Well I'll be dipped, TWO of my favorite youtubers working together? must be my lucky day! Saw you shooting his MP7 today as well Derek, and could hardly believe my eyes
What can I say... VGG is awesome, instructive, inspiring!! Keem 'em coming, Dereck... KEEP 'EM COMING!!!
Now there's a duo I never expected to see together.. Matt demolitions them and Derek fixes & drives them home
Man i love Derek, What i wouldn't give to have him come down to colorado for a weekend and help me get my 57 bel-air running.
Sure brings me back to the days I built my own backyard cars with my dad! Especially this one with taking from one and making it happen with another. My last was a 79 shortbed ford with a 460 king cobra out of a boat with a tunnel ram. Thanks sir for bringing good memories!
Sit down and have a cold one engine sounds week
Beats calling it a FUC.
Yeah, an El Camino is a Ute. Apparently Henry Ford used to call the original Ford version a "Kangaroo Chaser"
quality of your work is directly related to the quality of your supplies, tools etc.
Its a utility vehicle, or ute (sort of pronounced yoot) as we call it in Australia. Man that thing really is in fairly good shape and its looking pretty good with its new coat of paint. This was so good I watched it twice, another classic saved.
or "coupe utility"
Ute is technically a single full length frame chassis like the Commodore ute. Pickup, truck is two frames put together in the middle like the late model Falcons with that join behind the cab. XH, XD Falcon is a ute.
Not sure what this thing is yet, looks a ute.
I think it's awesome for a quick down & dirty get it running and painted, it really looks good for the limited amount of time you had to do it in. Keep doing what you do and stay safe. I love the content both here & on Roadworthy Rescues! Awesome as always!
Good fo4 you brother..first time I saw you working in a nice shop ie. Epoy floors lol you're big time .
Looking forward to watching VGG every Friday is just like waiting for MASH or Happy Days back in the 1970's.
Just watched this on the Demolition Ranch channel. Looking forward to seeing it from Derek's point of view.
Im so impressed when i watch Derek work his magic. Not many people can do what he does.
Great job! 👍👍👍👍
Fantastic. You made the painting look easy.
This is the kinda video I wanted when you got the last vehicle from Matt. Love seeing you guys together, 2 of my favorite RUclipsrs together.
Who doesn’t love an El Camino? Just think of how majestic it would be to see an 80s el camino towing one of my Fiero’s on a trailer, mullet flowing in the breeze!
EXACTLY.
RANCHRO, was an awesome car, too.
Great collaboration!!! Thanks for the best content ever!!!
AMAZING. Always interesting, informative and entertaining.
he has employees
I watched this channel for a long time now. I miss the days when he would find a car, rescue it, and drive it home. It seems like he strayed away from that. Still a good channel w/ quality content. I guess I miss the simpler times.
It'a not as interesting with a million dollar garage and every tool imaginable. It's not how most car guys live. Both these channels make millions a year which is fine but not very relatable.
@@North49191 well said !
Wow!!!! I really see it now! All the colors are beautiful
Amazing collaboration between two awesome channels. Hopefully there will be more opportunities in the future for this to happen again. From seating on the back property for who knows how long to the way this video ended up was an great to watch. I watched both channels' vlogs on this projected and totally enjoyed them both.
Suffered through Matt moments… because its VGG and I watch them all! Derek just freaking rocks, as always!
The 1406 600s are tuned really mild. The 1405 has different rods and spring. The 1405 is man choke too. I have had alot of luck on mild street cars with the 1406 with the 1405 rods and springs in. Just a thought. Great content!
That flat top 327 and the dished 350 would be the same compression ratio. 64cc heads adds another point-ish.
You should have swapped the cam.
Def need more Vice grip ranch collabs.. excellent video and chemistry working together.. top tier vid boys.
Derek always does amazing work, but wow what a massive effort to get this done in such a short space of time!!
You guys did a great job love the paint VGG MAKES MY WEEK!! ❤ THANKS VGG FOR TIME YOU TIME YOU PUT IT TO THESE VIDEOS YOU MAKE MY WEEK WORTH STAYING GONE ALL WEEK.
2 of my favorite creators coming together. Absolutely loved this one
You do awesome work can't get enough of VGG!!!👍
The crossover we all needed. Derek and Matt together..... What a great Friday.
I just went and looked at a 1953 Hudson Hornet today just because I’ve been watching this channel. I can’t wait to revive it!
If hood clearance for the carbs isn’t a problem, you could use the Holley’s with a short spacer. You already have a tunnel ram, which is a huge spacer, but that might help with your figment issue. I like Edlebrokens too though.
The tunnel ram top is on backwards, he's got the tall end of the tunnel Ram facing forward, goes to the rear, then the Holley carburetors will fit
I love all your videos man there all amazing and funny as can be
Yes a vice grip Friday 🇺🇸👍+ A off the ranch combo!! can't be any better !! I did the episode out here with dirtheaddave/David/Mike Battle of the winter road kill beaters on roadkill I hope I get to meet Derek someday
Greetings fellow Spokanite
I have met Derek. He is every bit the kind, caring guy you see on camera. And he knows a lot more about cars than everyone else I know!
@@ImTHATguy... hello there from Kaiser Mead
El Camino is my all-time favorite. Since the first one I remember seeing in the early 60's.
Looks like we may have to clean the house tomorrow, VGG dropped a new video. 😂
I would love to have that car and move stuff with it
