- More than 100,000 people have been displaced from the usually calm county of Kajo Keji in South Sudan.
The area is now militarised and split between government troops and rebel fighters.
The government has been fighting the rebels since 2013 when the ethnic war first started, two years into the country's independence from Sudan.
Al Jazeera has gained exclusive access to a territory controlled by the rebels within Kajo Keji, as Catherine Soi reports.

It is indeed heartbreaking to see how poor people of South Sudan are setup against each others, by the positions hungry and self-promote commanders.
What appears even more disturbing is that the vast majority of those fighters are taking life of others based on their ethnicity.
All the people of South Sudan regardless of their ethnic background should have close collaboration finding peaceful way how to settle issues of targeting innocent people based their ethnicity.
I wish all people of South Sudan are fully aware that no matter who kills who, the winner will never be a south Sudanese.
South Sudan has oil. Any place with wealth dug out of the ground with be a bad place to live. Oil, gold, diamonds, platinum, whatever. It matters not. It's nearly constant.

Not everyone from a place necessarily has to live there currently. There are many Sudanese who have fled South Sudan, like any war-torn nation
This war is beyond an understanding of a common man. It wouldn't take a few sentences to explain everything here. I myself is born in South Sudan and raised in over three continents and played a major role with the person I grew up with: My father. This war, is about colonization of South Sudan by three major players, Europe, China and the Africans nations who are being used by the western white world(www). As it is written in the scriptures, the Israelites who are scattered in the world will come back to know that Africa was part of Israel until 1901. So, to answer your question, I will need a few days or months to talk to explain why is this war is happening. The rest of what you watch in major newscast is whitewash news.

they want control over south Sudan and to overthrow Salva. It all started at the rebellion they were fighting for power to overthrow the leadership they started the first major attack at Dinka in 1991 which cause the countless live almost genocide like torcher rape ruthless killing, ambushing SPLA slowing the libration movement down john Garang got fed he launch retaliation with Salva instead of ruthlessly killing they captured thousands, the rebels were defeated and Garang showed to them mercy and prove to them they are not enemies and they objective is freedom and peace after the 21-year war is over thousands of those who were capture got released home. I never understand their objective
