    Dan Hamilton lived a few streets away in our little town in Washington. He used to bully my brother in high school. 😀 My brother remembers "Danny" as a football player, but according to the yearbook his only extracurricular was choir. Then Dan dropped out of school, took his guitar to California and less than a decade later was recording this hit.

    • @serlestial9085

      wow what a great story. Danny went to California to play with the Beach Boys, but he was late for the tour. He stayed with his brother Judd and at the age of 16 composed the million-selling hit in Japan Diamond Head, from The Ventures. then he joined the avantis and toured with the Beach Boys, then joined T-Bones with his brother. They toured Japan and when they returned they formed Hamilton Joe Frank & Reynolds. wow, I must say I envy you for meeting Danny in person! He will forever be my greatest platonic love, he was incredible 😍❤

      Dan was much better than Presley. He was an actual ARTIST who wrote his OWN songs, had his own style, composed his work, wrote the lyrics and performed the song with better voice control. He didn't need to copy anyone else like Presley had a bad tendency to do going back to his early days and forward. Dan was his own man and his talent was more than enough to lay claim to his own VERY respected place in music history.

    This is one of those songs that only Dan Hamilton could have pulled off to the maximum desired effect among listeners. He had the winning formula - the right voice, a catchy hook and a memorable melody. Add to this his rock star rugged looks, personality and virtuoso musicianship and you have close to perfection as can be. Even after so many years that Dan released this song (early 70s), it still generates airplay worldwide. I cannot see any of today's songs having the same impact and longevity.

      He was a complete and perfect musician. And yet, so underrated. Dan taught us that being discreet and humble in the world of music is a path to oblivion, but he also taught us that true music can withstand the test of time and become an eternal work of art. Perhaps the world doesn't know how to appreciate Danny as he deserves and confuses him with mere cmediatic of the era, but his music is the true art and will never be forgotten.

    Hamilton was the next Elvis. Sadly He died so young from Cushing's syndrome ( basically glands that create too much cortisol ) People who have this condition usually skinny arms and legs and a round extended stomach similar to a beer belly. I knew someone in Canada that worked with Dan and he spoke how the music industry tried to hide his illness by having him wear clothes that hid his girth in the stomach area. He was a beautiful man and a good man I was told. Screw the music industry Dan. You were beautiful inside and out. May you rest in peace and know that We fans loved you. Sadly, It was a stroke that took his life which was a complication from his disease. I can only imagine how big a star Dan would have become. It breaks my heart,

    I played bass with Dan Hamilton in one of the later versions of the band. He was quite the nice guy and an amazing vocalist.
    They were signed to Playboy Records, which was created by Hugh Hefner, as a venue for his then girlfriend Barbie Benton. They broke up and Hefner dissolved the record company, leaving all of their contracted artists to twist in the wind.
    Hamilton Joe Frank and Reynolds, was one of those unfortunate acts.
    They had three hits. This one, ‘Winners and losers and ‘ Baby Baby Falling In Love’.
    Those productions were top notch. Jimmy Haskell arranged the strings and most of the wrecking crew played on the sessions.
    Dan sadly passed away while on the road with Laura Brannigan.

    • @HJFRD
      @HJFRD 4 месяца назад

      I would like to read more anecdotes from those years. Did you play bass in the re-recording in the late '70s? Judd Hamilton told me about the record label's bad move; without a doubt, Danny deserved much more recognition and success than he received. I believe he was one of the greatest vocalists in history, as well as a virtuoso guitarist, and his compositions still captivate today. Unfortunately, his illness took him from this world too soon; otherwise, we would have heard much more from him in recent years. I understand that the show with Laura Branigan was in 1984; did Danny continue singing for her for 10 years? I know he also performed in his own shows with Joe Frank in Las Vegas and surrounding areas.
