Thanks, it does sound good. The TTI are held in place buy 1 nut inside & 1 nut outside of pipe. You can get different performance by which way it faces. I faced it out so to get best torque & sound. I hadn't gone over 80 in 5th yet as it's still new & didn't realize how fast I was going in 4th until I glanced down at the spedo because it was just running so smooth & strong & didn't even sound like it was reving to high. It's plenty fast for me without the ECM re-map
I also daily ride my Sporty to work everyday! I have open headers on mine with some lollipops (HOMEMADE!!!) I just got my torque cones in from JP cycles gonna put them in tomorrow to get my low to mid range torq back!
I thought of the eyebolt/lollipops until I saw DC Kustoms TTI's. Decided go with something designed & proven to work. Hope the torque cones work as good for you. TTI's really brings back you low/mid range torque for city riding Thanks 4 commenting
Robert, I was only mentioning the 7K rev limit increase with a Stage-1 flash to let you know that these motors can rev quite high without harming them. The Stage-1 flash plays around with the AFR and ignition timing. On a stock ECM, the adaptive learning is limited to 20% of the base values of the VE (Volumetric Efficiency) tables. Your mods may have gone well past this! However, the VIED's installed may be compensating and overriding those base limitations... They must be! Ride safe my friend.
Do these things help with the back pressure? I wanna take the baffles out of my screaming eagle's but I keep reading that it'll hurt the bike considering it's efi
Yes they do work! I removed my baffles and used that hole to install them after drilling it out larger. You can also remove your baffles and just remove the wadding then put the bare baffles back in. That gives you less back pressure than stock but not as free flow as TTI's & sounds different. The problem I ran into recently is one of the TTI's fell out on the freeway. Metal fatigue of the HDSE slip ons broke out all around mounting bolt w / washer from constant vibration. The HDSE slip ons are very cheap metal! If you do this use a big washer inside on the bolt part of the TTI for better strength I now run a set of Short Shots pipes instead
Hi Rob. Thanks for the info on the TTI's. As for my decision on baffles...I wasn't aware of the TTI's and after seeing them I'm considering them straight away. I've got a 2014 iron with stock pipes and air breather. If I go ahead and get the Rush slip ons do you figure I need to do any tuning mods? I've been on the forums and there seem to be two trains of thought...Yes and No. I realize when I get a new breather I'll have to mod the tuning as more air will be pushed through. But If I'm just throwing on the new slip ons and running the stock breather (for now), do you figure a tuning mod is still required? Thanks Rob.
I ran with just HDSE slip ons & stock baffles no tunning mod for a short time. Only thing it seemed to change was sound not performance so I'd say you don't need to tune until you also change the air breather. It'd be a waste of $ to have to re flash twice if that's the route you go. If you do Vieds or some other after market tuner it'd save $ & then add breather or change baffles anytime later. I think the TTIs outperform baffles if you can stand the extra noise. Vieds work good for their price but any tuner will out perform them. Lots to choose from out there Happy riding If you don't already sub him check out Shawn Smoak he has an Iron has lots of knowledge is a real motorcycle mechanic might have better info than I
Shawn I was wondering what else does the stage 1 flash do besides the rpm & resetting the AFR? Since I've done exhaust, air cleaner & Vied & it seems to run great & cool & I don't really need to rev to 7K so is it still needed to do flash of ECM & would dealer do it with my changes I've made? If I remember correctly you work at a HD Dealer ?
As far as I know Harley uses the same frame and engine for all Sportster 1200 cc models & just change the rest of the bolt on stuff to make them look different
Nice Robert! Definitely added some bark to the 72. So are the spoons fixed in place, or do they spin on a pivot? Don't worry about 80 mph in forth gear. After riding the Iron 883 for a while, with it's lower gearing, I often fly down the freeway 75-80 in 4th gear on the 72, thinking I'm in 5th... Based on my '07 XL1200L that has a tach, 80 mph in 4th is around 4,100 rpm. Standard red line is 5,500. With no motor mods, the SE Stage-1 ECM flash bumps red line to 7,000 rpm. These Sportsters rev!
I have a 07 dyna street bob with vance&h short shots, wich inserts should I use? I known the pipes are 2 1/8 inches, but I dont know wich one to order...model 118 or 158 inserts..
Contact DK Custom on their web site they'll get back to you in 1 day as to exactly what would be best as I don't know. That's what I did & they were great company to deal with
Thanks I really like the way it sounds now too & how it performs. Night & day from stock!

Robert Robb I'll be trying these out on my screaming eagle 2's. Thanks man!!!

Thanks Rob. Yep I sub to Smoak as well. I'm jealous of you. Up here in Ottawa we are in winter's wonderland. Can't wait til spring. haha

These are old videos i wonder if this guy even still has this bike
I wonder if this is the exact same engine as the forty eight and nightster... I imagine so. If you know different lemme know please
