Hi, there mr spider man. You will be very happy and proud because tonight I finished the shawl! But I took a very long time because I found that I had made so many errors and I ripped out a horrifying lot of rows and nearly started over again! But now it’s done and the whole planet can rest easy. Thank you so much for your detailed tutorials. I now have a big yellow skein to start another one.

I've made two shawls the last few days using your tutorial vids for "Virus Meets Granny". I am soooo pleased with how they turned out, all due to your excellent videos. I've been crocheting for decades, but am completely self taught via written instructions - which means ongoing basic construction errors in my pieces because I just didn't know any better. Your thorough visual instructions have helped me tremendously in learning better methods. Plus, I find your voice and diction to be quite soothing, so that makes the videos even better. Thank you so much!

Hello FiberSpider, and thank you for these videos!! I had been wanting to try to Virus meets Granny shawl for awhile and followed your video to do so for my first crochet comission ever!! The finished product is beautiful, snuggly, and warm and I really hope my customer loves it and I hope his mom (who it's going to) loves it even more!!
I used a 5.25mm hook and Caron simply soft in coffee for the virus sections, Caron simply soft in bone for the granny sections, and I have 3 sections of each in total. It allmmmooosssttt reaches my wrists and I'm 5'6", and the woman that it's for is a couple inches shorter.
Your guidance and thorough tutorial helped this happen!! Thank you!!

I began this project and found the written pattern somewhat lacking in detail and clarity in certain areas. I hoped for a diagram, but soon discovered that the one that came with the pattern instructions was more confusing than the written words. Your videos (and I watched all 3 of them) was what got me back on the right path and made so much of what I was wondering about make perfect sense. I can't thank you enough. I really love this pattern and now feel as if I will be able to finish it to perfection. Thank you! Great job!

I love this pattern. I have done several, one following the pattern to the letter. Then I took your advice and got creative. I discovered that you can make the Granny section as wide as you want, as long as the number of clusters (not including the apex) is a multiple of 5. You can also do as many Virus repeats as you want, remembering that each repeat will add 5 more clusters to your beginning Granny section. As much as I ADORE the regular Virus Shawl, the variations with this version make it my new go-to pattern. Thank you for your thorough explanations and demonstrations.

Thank you for this tutorial, so well and precisely explained, in a calm and pleasant voice. I am not an expert in the art of crocheting, but I started working on a similar shawl. I hope I succeed... Thank you and I wish you health and success!

This is my first time making this shawl. Very easy to follow and I love the combination of the two stitches. I have worked several of your project tutorials. You are my favorite teacher. I especially like the time- stamped rows you provide. Very quick and easy to find what you need to review. Thank you so much for all your hard, and meticulous work.

Now, I need to find your Granny rows. I am ready for my second set of 6 rows of Grannys. I also gave you the credit for this awesome tutorial on the video I uploaded today!! ♡

I adore your tutorials. I did the Virus Shawl with you and thought nothing could be better. Boy was I wrong!! Virus Meets Granny is the most amazing pattern. I make Prayer Shawls for the ladies of my church and its a struggle to make them different. I did the regular Virus Shawl last week and had a special request for a repeat, which I finished tonight. Decided I check out this tutorial and can't wait to finish it. Works up so fast and the results are so beautiful!! God Bless You for your patience and for sharing your love of crafting with us. You are the BEST!

You are the best! This was a very helpful series of videos and I enjoyed your directions with commentary for the shawl. I changed color in each row for a southwest color scheme. You made it easy and enjoyable. Thank you.

Hello Fiber Spider: I know I’m late to the party in regards to the virus stitch but I’ve just gotten back to crocheting since the early 80’s. After viewing several tutorials, I found that yours was the easiest to follow. I needed a lot of hand-holding on this one and you did not fail. I like how you gently led us and it wasn’t until the third video that you let us fly solo. You have no idea how much that really helped. There is no way I could have read a pattern, and figured this out. Thank you for the work you put into this and all your videos. All the best to you.

Hey FS, I love all your videos and have done several. This particular shawl is a fav. I would love it if you would show where you do your color changes. Also show the shawl longer at beginning, middle and ending. As I am new at crocheting, I’m slower too so I like to look at your work and the colors you use. Absolutely beautiful. You are my favorite crochet buddy! I’m 62 and just now learning to crochet and love following alongside of you. So thanks for the guidance!

I think I want to end on a granny row, I like the pointed center. Greetings Fiber Spider, I’ve been following you for years. You calm me and have taught me so much! Sending love.
