I’m really happy to hear you enjoyed making this shawl! For blocking a project this big I like to wet the whole thing in water. Squeeze all the water out by hand and then lay it out flat on the floor where it can air dry.
As you lay it out, pul it flat and fix it anyway you don’t want it to dry.
It’s not as perfect as pinning it out but it’s better than nothing! And the blocking helps it to show the stitches. ❤️

Thank you SOOOO MUCH for doing the repeat rows with us! This is huge for me as a visual person, it makes this much easier to do with getting the gist at the beginning of the rows to know how to continue the pattern repeats. I'm making this shawl in a beautiful muted "thistle" color. I love your video tutorials!!! They're so easy to follow ❤ I've been crocheting for most of my life but everyone writes patterns differently. (I did pick up your pattern to refer to if I'm on the go without wifi access & later once I've already made this beautiful shawl!) I appreciate you so much! Like others here already said.. you're a very good teacher & demonstrate very clearly exactly what to do & how to do it as well as specifically where to place the stitches! Thank you for taking the time to share this wonderful pattern with us! 🥰

I don’t get why some are complaining about what the shawl is called. If you made it already, good for you, but there’s a lot of us who haven’t. The constant griping about a pattern name doesn’t make any logical sense. Guess some people have to be upset about something.

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  5 лет назад +9

They think it’s the same because they use similar stitches. This doesn’t mean they are the same. Lots of patterns look like other patterns but are not.

Thank u for explaining the way u do. I'm a visual person as well. Reading patterns confuse me so bad and it makes me feel stupid. Hopefully one day I'll be as good as u are and other ladies and gentlemen who crochet. I saw where Crystal, Bag O Day crochet blanket was in a Mary maxium book I get. I was impressed!! Keep teaching the way u are.
I'm using mandela string yarn in country. And it takes the yarn but it's very pretty so far. Since it's a smaller string I did more rows before I did the block row. I'm gonna make one with the Tune color in Mandela string yarn. So far it's very pretty. I wish u could show us how to make Sumner short sleeve or sleeveless tops to go over tank tops. Sometimes cool for summer. Thx

I realise you need to mirror the other side , but I'm one of those people that needs that mirrored instruction.

    Hello’ Ms Jonna
Yes this is the actual tutorial I was looking for. But started the V stitch. Aww
I was looking for this Because it’s easier for me to count.
I started the one where you do the V-stitch. It’s a variation.
And actually the V st. Takes 3 spaces just like the traditional 3 DC. Shouldn’t be stumbling block
but I seem to always get a wonky looking end and beginning row, with the v stitch.
And never with the traditional basic 3 DC granny. Chains ruin me. I do t think it’s ever going to change. When the chaies not count my project t will be perfect. Every time.
So I’m here to see if I can get the frame row and the repeat set up correct. I’m going to finish that shawl.
But this color and make a second one with this granny. I’ll fly right through it.
    Ok.
    Thanks again! ☺️🥰.
    P. S. I know these are older now. But there new to me.
Shawls are a new edition for me. Some I’m living it.
I’m actually practicing to work my way up to be able to handle a DK or sort weight yearn with a larger hook.
This takes quite a bit of Tension control.
I returned to this craft decades. I mean decades after doing it.
And am at it about 3 going into my 4 th year. Tension is a much talked about topic. And it’s something that just takes time and practice. I’m sure if it now. 🙏🏼

I tried it 3 times now, but i always get stuck in the second virus section. Somehow it doesnt add up, i follow the turorial to the dot but in second virus segment it shows that there are not enough stitches in the first shell row. So the virus segment end up either crooked or with visible alterations. Anyone made the shawl and had similar problems? I really dont know what i do wrong. :(

Can you tell me what yarn and hook ? Please
    It is really pretty

      I used red heart super saver in color Aaron. It’s a cream/white. And a G 4.25mm hook.
You can also use an 4.5mm hook or an H if you crochet tightly.

How long is this shawl. I am 5 foot 2. I think I could make this a little shorter. Would it look alright to end with the granny stitches? It looks like ypurs would go to my ankles...lol😂❤

Jonna Martinez. I have been trying to reach your shop through Etsy and to reply through the email confirming my purchase of the download of this pattern. The link does not work and when I try to reply to the confirmation email it will not work either. I have NOT been able to get the link to the pattern download. Is there anyway I can get my pattern (PayPal has confirmed payment). Otherwise I will have to ask for a refund.

@Jona Martinez thank you for sharing g this beautiful pattern. I wanted to make this but I can't get red heart yarn in the UK. Would this work with DK yarn? I have Hayfield Bonus DK, if I use the correct size hook ?

How petty some of you people are to this young lady. It really doesn’t matter what she calls the shawl or the stitch. This is her tutorial and what she named it. Nitpicking at someone else trying to place fault on her, shame on you! This young lady spent her time, her effort, her teaching of this for free and you want to complain about it.
Wow, you all complainers throwing rocks at a glass house should look in the mirror first before casting the first stone. How shameful of you to do this so you feel like the bigger person now that you have said Jonna is wrong at what she calls the shawl.
People are dying from Covid 19, cancer, strokes, not working because of Covid 19 and you have to be nasty like this to feel better because you are berating someone. The joke is on you, you who throw stones at glass houses are the ones who this young lady doesn’t give a second thought about because she has good in her life and trying to share the good she has with other people in these dying times. Yes, dying, I am only 21 years old and I have lost 6 immediate family members in 14 months and you complainers should appreciate what you have and stop trying to spread YOUR negativity to others because you can’t feel good about yourselves and don’t want others to feel good. Yes, I am sad, but watching this young lady make something beautiful brings some joy to me and I will take joy from anyone who is trying to bring some beauty in these dark times.
You all know who you are and should apologize to her and if not, I am sorry for the darkness in your hearts you feel you need to try to make others feel.
    Many blessings
    Avaona Menkar

This one only uses the double crochet block stitch and the virus or German Shells stitch.
The Victoria’s uses 3 different stitches. Thank you for watching and commenting.
