Bah! I prefer classic Doom to nuDoom any day. The recent Doom + Doom II port is a spectacular vanilla Doom experience, and supplement it with GZDoom for infinity possibilities.

Like honestly. It would've been cool. But i don't think it would have caught us the same way. It would'n feel like it arised from hell it self. Which is what Doom actually feels like. It looks and feels like a game that wasn't ment to be possible. And still. Someone, some satanist/heavy metal looking badass coders decided that they wanted to create the game from hell. And honestly. I still to this day is convinced that they made a deal with the devil for this piece of art.

Looks great, DOOM 2016 and Doom Eternal look amazing, but I prefer the old school maps / gameplay, with less jumping and open spaces, more clostrophobic, whereas at the same time old graphics sometimes make level design a little bit confusing. And even if I'm not a fan of glory kills in modern DOOM, I think it would be way enjoyable without all the platforming, and rediscovering these old maps with these graphics and lightnings is great. Now imagine if someone would be able to create a mod like D64ifier but with Doom Eternal 🔥 Some modern mechanisms like updating weapons and glory kills help to make it resfreshing while still keeping its essence with old maps: great work !

It's great to hear this also has the proper music, as I had it on my PC. I have a console port of Doom on my Pandora's Box. I think it's an N64 version of the game. It has completely different music that's really dull sounding, with no cool beat, like the original music has.
absolute kick ass. old doom's level design is sooooo much better. very impressive work didn't even know Doom Eternal can be modded. would love to see more levels like this
This is crazy awesome. Still the original map design will never make complete sense, but it's Nostalgia remade. It certainly adds some new suprises the original didn't have.
Neat, but I feel like there are better ways to reimagine the original Doom levels that are more in line with the gameplay of eternal than a simple beat for beat recreation, complete with blocky architecture. Still waiting for something like that, but for now, this is still pretty cool.
It's funny how much i played the first doom games and now can barely remember the levels... or the levels i made back then...it was quite the accomplishment to make levels back then..
Nice gameplay, just FYI you can actually stagger the shield guys with a punch and then shoot them while they are exposed instead of whittling down the shield. Maybe when i figure out more about the editor i can remove the shield entirely. Also, that is probably the most conservative full auto use i've ever seen
You can also hit their gun arm until they're staggered. It's easier with the pistol secondary on this map but it also works good with ye olde precision bolt/sticky bombs.
I spent a lot of time with original Doom for the past few years due to working on Doom-playing AI for both undergrad and postgrad thesis, can't even begin to express my excitement for seeing E1M1 in modern graphics! ❤ A bit of a nit-pick tho, the level seems to be quite a bit bigger than the original and looks a tiny bit empty as a result.
i love how the soundtrack started with a normal amount of badbutt in the first game before inevitably going litteral space satan in doom 2016 - doom eternal
I wonder if there's a way to create custom campaigns. That way, we can recreate a whole "Knee-deep in the Dead" episode in Doom Eternal. Just like in "Classic DOOM3" modpack, but without cringe-inducing cutscenes
I think it would be so cool if the first time Doom Guy picked up the armor, he slapped it on himself, similar to how he inspects the weapons when he first picks them up.

Wonder if it will be possible to create your own game that's not connected to Doom Eternal..using your own custom models and enemies to make something akin to Call Of Duty or Halo or whatever
Im hoping for a whole remake But im not so keen on having new enemies where they dont belong. Im probably a minority on this, but it's more interesting seeing a 1-1. Which would still be hard because on UV its all shotgunners pretty much, aka sheild guys. The mecha zombie fills the chaingunner role, a firehose of damage. Regular blaster zombie is definitely a middle ground of regular zombie man and shotgunner
i kinda expect this to happen when they release the modding tools. especially with big remake mod project like skyblivion/fallout 4 new vegas or any other, The first though that come to my mind when they release the mod support is "someone gonna make the og doom with this mod support"

It's a cool PoC and all, but it just feels so slow compared to the many many times I've played E1M1 on OG doom and did basically the same path.

This is crazy awesome. Still the original map design will never make complete sense, but it's Nostalgia remade. It certainly adds some new suprises the original didn't have.
Pretty good recreation. Too many and too hard enemies though, and even enemies in the secret. Also, I would miss dynamic infighting forever.

1:50 sorry for being smug, but the Moon on Phobos? If it is Mars then colors are wrong. And sun looks a lot closer on skybox rather than on the Earth.

Pretty sure you can just point your level to the next one on exit so you can make a whole campaign like that
Considering Eternal faster pace, it would be good to probably extend the map abit bigger and isn't too claustrophobic.
