Lol I was gonna say something similar but I still don’t have half the guns anyone in the tips videos have so I’m more confused now than before I clicked 😅
Such a great game. I play on XBSS at 120fps and man this game just feels like butter. Crazy the flow state it can get you into with the way they tuned this game to handle Console players: rebind dash to LS and jump to RS. Makes a huge difference being able to dash and jump without moving your thumbs off the sticks
I got 700 over hours in DE. Mastering all these, just feel so good. Especially for the really advanced stuff like double d blade, speed runs, etc. I beat my ultra nightmare runs because I learnt weapon techs, pb punch cancel repeat, etc.
This game really is incredible. Pulling off tech I used to struggle with feels sooo satisfying and there's always some facet of the game you can improve on. Never ending learning and fun.
Thanks so much for this video. Super informative and fantastic presentation. I’m at about 100 hours and am getting reasonably good at the combat loop but I still have a lot to learn.
I don’t mean to be redundant, but heres a few tips of my own; Never lock on mod a Mancubi, Always PB Ballista or at least PB with something for his arm guns. Doesn’t matter much on an arena like this but mod maps make it more important Be careful about to much air time with the meathook, sometimes floating around up in the air for to long is a good way to get caught by a large amount of projectiles as your height peaks, this has caused to many deaths on mod maps that have a lot of enemies (tbh none of my advice applies for a base game map), I suggest getting good at dodging enemy attacks with your dash on the ground, specifically tyrant and snake ground attacks as you wont always have time to jump over them. - Don’t forget your grenades in your combos! They regen so fast and really add damage to large groups. Especially use them up at the start to get those recharge timers cooking. You may already be practicing this stuff, but theres always more to learn from this game, maybe this are useful tips to ya.
@purplefloyd1513 2000 hours is insane 😭 but these are great tips. My favorite thing to do to mancubi is hitting them some quick pb/sticky bomb shots to delete their cannons instantly. I considered including more combat tactics in this video, like weaving grenades in between weapon swaps, but didn't want the video to get too long and always figured I could make that a separate video. I never knew about how staying in the air too long can actually be harmful though, def explains a couple deaths now that I think about it
@@purplefloyd1513 I personally don't fully agree with this. Destroying weak points is made obsolete by quick switching. All of the demons with destructible weak points die extremely quick to normal quick switching so it doesn't matter if you break the weak point or not. And even if they didn't die quick, their offensive capabilities aren't made much better because they are got their weak points on them. I would argue that in many cases it's even better to leave the arachnotron turret on because the turret is extremely predictable and if you have alright movement you won't get hit by it, but without its turret the attacks become very random. Staying in the air is good, but staying in one spot isn't. On the ground staying in one spot is bad, the same applies for when you're in the air, just way less. So if you can move around in the air, that will be way better than staying grounded.
@@Well_M1 No reason not to destroy weak points mid quick switching they do more damage than regular hits, you wont even be worrying what attack they do as they will be dead in 2 seconds. No reason not to blow off Manc arms and or Arach turrets, Revenant launchers, etc, it also stuns them which is also great. Also not saying to not move, but to avoid hanging around in the air for to long and to get good and sometimes using your dodges on the ground. I said nothing about staying in one spot, in fact I am specifically saying that that air time when you peak upward leaves you in one spot and open to damage. Having a variety of movement tools other than just throwing yourself into the air to do your quick swapping is very useful. I am not saying to stay still lmao
@@Well_M1 Additionally, pretty much all enemies are genuinely weaker without their weakpoints. I dont see how that arach turret is easier than those slow, predictable grenades they lob once its destroyed. Mancs lose nearly all ranged offensive capabilities, and Revenants become melee enemies. Thats if you aren’t just finishing them off quick. Stunning them is definitely the best part, as all weakpoint stun gives enough time to completely finish the enemy. I don’t see why you wouldn’t want to instantly stun and then quick finish them. Because of this, in hefty mod map arenas that spawn in obscene amounts of stuff, its always best to just rip through the weak point enemies in a matter of seconds before focusing on whatever possessed buffed duo marauder they spawned in (unless if they are doing archviles I guess)
I don't think any type of punch swapping is bound to fps but I'm not sure. If you're referring to the meat hook skips though, yeah those are definitely limited by fps unfortunately 😕
I'm currently working on a guide that will explain every weapon swap combo/tech that I use, but that won't be out until maybe next week. It's hard to put into words without any visual explanation, but maintaining the fast state for rocket and sticky punch swaps is really hard and rhythm dependent. I actually haven't found a guide on RUclips that does a good job of explaining that rhythm, so I never learned how to chain several rockets with punch swaps. Instead, I quickly punch two rockets out then cycle back to pb to get fast state back. It's not as much dps as chaining tons of rockets back-to-back, but it gets the job done. The combo looks like this pb -> rocket -> punch-rocket -> repeat. Wish I knew how to do the tech for real, but this is what I got so far. Again, it's difficult to explain with only text, but I will be making a video with a keyboard and mouse display on screen.
I was already pretty good at all of the doom games (notably eternal), but I think the extra tech I learned on this should help me complete my UN run that’s been diddyblasting me
@Vitherstorm I use it. I was just saying ballista boosting a little harder if you use it because you can easily kill your momentum by hitting strafe keys.
Mastering these movement mechanics and weapon swapping will bring you a long way. Once you've got that down, it comes down to putting the reps in and developing your doom IQ. What I mean by that is dying and failing over and over again until you learn what decisions are the best to make for each situation. Eventually you'll be able to read any scenario and make split second decisions based on what the demons are throwing at you. It just takes time.
I like how how the video goes straight to the point everytime, thank you. Best video about doom's pro tips and tricks
