I miss the mobile turret from 2016. It had all the issues that you mentioned, but you could use the rune that gave you infinite ammo above a certain armour threshold, and it was just so funny, shredding through everything with infinite ammo without a care in the world
Am I the only person that likes the new heavy assault rifle? The slow rate of fire helps distinguish it from the plasma rifle and chaingun and the sound effect has a pleasant bassy quality to it imo.
The sound design is definitively better. The bassy "thug thug" makes it way more of a "heavy cannon" than in doom 2016 and is much more aligned with the report of a .50 cal machine gun. The 2016 sound design doesn't even really sound like a machine gun? It's kind of just clinky and cheap sounding tbh. No, you're not the only one.
I absolutely loved this series Fish, it was a great time. I do hope that maybe you can find a way to integrate this more somehow, it's always a treat to see these pop up. Edit: Good to know that much like TF2, giving a sniping weapon explosive headshot is the logical choice to make a class/weapon more powerful.
Wasn’t heat blast already in 2016? (Although admittedly I never used it bc stun bomb was incredibly useful - which ig is why they give you ice grenade instead in eternal)
heatblast is THE best mod imo, because it is a hard falter unlike the super shotgun and rocket launcher which means the demons will fslter when you hit them, NO MATTER WHAT
Y'know, I haven't played the DLCs yet; I got distracted when I started and just booted up a new UV file. I just assumed the Hammer used the same ammo as the Crucible since it replaces it. That's fucking nuts that it doesn't.
I do think Microwave beam might be a little low, since it's best use case is just to tap a demon with it to use as an on-demand stun in the middle of combos, especially on bigger enemies like Barons.
Microwave beam would very likely be much more used if it didn't have the movement reduction. It still would be pretty weak and situational regardless, but not nearly as punishing to use.
@@DaisiesTC like i said, if you just feather the beam for a quick stun, the movement penalty doesn't really come into effect, especially if you use it while dashing. Other forms of stunning are usually limited resources or on a long cooldown, I.E. blood punch, grenades, and remote detonate.
the mobile turret, instead of increasing your attack speed, should have had you activate a shoulder mounted minigun that continues shooting at whoever u were aiming at when u activated it (& therefor also increases your damage output if u continue to chaingun that target). as a sort of "set it and forget it, make this guy go away while i do other stuff even if mobile turret is an inefficient way to do it" ability
With the microwave beam just briefly zap to stagger it and judge its health. It can stun anything so you can use it to combo superheavys by constantly stunning them between the ssg, ballista one two punch. Plus using it as an explosive finisher is nice.
Microwave Beam does NOT belong that low in the ranking. It can stun demons with just a tap and without sacrificing mobility and can also create really powerful stun combos. You can also get into Fast Lock on Burst from the Beam. Microwave is absolutely OP against possessed demons. It's a FAAR better mod than full auto and mobile turret.
I will always stand by Microwave Beam. Stun potential, finishing wounded demons for explosions without using rockets and shield fuckage are way better than low C. Same thing with Mobile Turret, my beloved. I say mid-high C or low B. But I can see why people dislike them.
You have to use MB extremely precisely for it to pop off, but it's strong if you do. A rocket launcher blast in a room wide AoE for like ten cells? Yes please.
The problem with the meme beam is that ideally you want the enemy to be on a sliver of health so you aren't slowed for too long. Otherwise, it's likely going to detriment you by making you take unnecessary damage that you could've avoided if you didn't want to use the meme beam. If you can roughly gauge where the demons' health is after a combo, then the meme beam is a lot better than the bottom of C, but otherwise it's too risky.
@@lordpumpkinhead265 Tap shooting the beam in the middle of combos completely takes away all the cons you mentioned and gives you the stun benefits it has.
Honestly, I never stopped using sticky bombs because they're just so useful for doing just the right amount of damage to stagger pretty much any fodder (especially shielded enemies), and you can spam them. A bunch of levels throw a ton of shield guys at you and it's often faster to stagger a whole group of them than use the plasma rifle.
I started the game fairly recently and I’m playing it super casually, but I love these in depth videos, are extremely useful if I ever decide to go hardcore on Doom Eternal

Simple stuff like the tierlist being themed, and the games font used for onscreen text make your videos so much better than the usual ranking vids. . . . . . . Also could I get the link to that Rocket Waltz remix you used?
It's normal to use stickies. It's one of the few that has a significant deal crit effect when headshotting or hitting weakpoints which turn it into a rocket with bigger splash radius. This tier list is coming from a casual player perspective and in no way reflect how efficient an advance player play
Me, a person who generally doesn't like Doom Eternal very much, expecting to walk away from this video frustrated but instead feeling incredibly vindicated xD
Great list. I’d only change full auto to be above heat blast, and sticky bombs above or below the meme beam. I’m actually working on a video for sticky bombs as of now. I personally think they’re the worst weapon (mod) in the game. Their practicality just falls off hard after SGN. As far as full auto goes, since I know how people think about it in the comments, it’s actually really good against SH demons. D-Blade+ice bomb+full auto will one-cycle any demon that isn’t a boss, tyrant, or marauder.
Sticky bombs might fall off for raw damage as the bigger demons get introduced, but they're still great for breaking weakpoints that are at more awkward angles because of their firing arc and larger hitbox. I find that Revenant cannons are generally way easier to hit with stickies than with PB or Ballista.
That is one thing i did like more about siege mode in 2016 compared to the destroyer blade was that it was more of a precision shot instead of a wide shot that will be gone if it touched a wall. I will say though, the siege mode was overpowered as sh*t and was super broken lol
I disagree with the Plasma rifle, I never enjoy using it, it feels like im firing wet noodles, I'd personally switch its placement with the heavy cannon simply because I dislike firing it that much.
Ive never seen someone with such bad opinions about weapons, microwave beam is a great weapon mod this guy just doesn't understand how the hell to use it apparently. "Why it not good when i stand still and hold it down for 30 seconds straights!!!!!"
I've been a fan of the Destroyer Blade since the first time I used it. Actually became one of my most used mods in the game. Just run to the end of a semi-long hallway, make the enemies line up behind you and slice them all up with one shot. Incredibly satisfying to use, especially against the snakes, Revenants and Carcasses. Hell, if I remember right it's even good against Pinkies and Arachnotrons.
The microwave bean should have been rated way higher, at least low b tier. No one ever really uses it to kill demons, but it’s stun effect is very useful. You can stun a demon and quick switch to another weapon and then stun it again over and over. This is good against possessed demons, who move fast. It deals with energy shields really quick and for practically no ammo usage. I feel like for a weapon like the plasma rifle which doesn’t have much synergy with other weapons in the arsenal, the microwave beam is much more useful than the heat wave, if you would use the plasma rifle at all. The damage output from the ballista is much higher than the plasma rifle’s heat wave so I’d rather spend my ammo on that then waste half the clip charging the heat wave for only a quick burst of damage
Honestly i think plasma rifle as a whole has no real use since quickswitching exists and is WAY more useful than just using one weapon for just a bit longer, the damage output is just unmathced. You could also say that thing for chainguin, but it has that op shield, that honestly on it's own could be classified as a super weapon with how much you can get away with this thing. That makes it strange (atleast in my book), that the micorwave beam is the only actually useful thing on plasma rifle, since you can atleast stun enemies by just clicking on them with this mod. Why would you use heat blast mod, when you won't be using plasma rifle to charge the blast to begin with, when you have all these ballista, heavy cannon, supershotgun, rocket launcher combos which deal so much more damage than the plasma rifle. Sure, if you could only use 1 weapon through level and that weapon would be plasma rifle, than it makes total sense to use heat blast mod, but with all of these other options it just doesn't.
I'm more of a classic Doom gamer than a modern era one but is a tier list like this really necessary? Oh well, I suppose at the very least its entertaining and good for the channel.
1:26 - it depends on where do you hit, i don't know if spread is random but it is pretty controloble if you know where to show (i.e. bodyshot close range will stager zombie gunners and kill imps, hitting to the side staggers imps and, on second shot, staggers zombie gunman. imps have the same health as those fodder unarmed zombies)
At the start of my Ultra-nightmare runs I would have agreed with you on the placement of the plasma beam, but eventually I realized that it was more useful than I initially thought, mainly for locking down the most powerful enemy in the arena and removing them from the picture. I would've put it in B, maybe even A, but most likely B.
Can't wait for you to come out with new Doom videos for the new Doom Game. Also, if you have the time, I would love to see your opinions on the Unmaykr from Doom 64.
did you play the mod kaisercampain? because it is entirely balanced around the hammer and it is charged with weak point breaks and blood punch kills. i think you need four of ether to charge it up
I feel another thing to add to the precision bolt is that it's better on pc than it is on console. Being able to swap at the press of a button and flick onto a demon's head is way easier on pc since for console you have to open up the weapon wheel, select the weapon, ads, move slowly to their head then shoot.
26:41 you can use crucible to kills dlc enemies even possessed one. If you're playing something like randomizer or moded levels that had dlc enemies spawns in the base campaign a quick crucible would still worth it
You forgot that beam can be used in a quick switch to stun lock enemies but aside from that everything is perfect here and i got to know new things even! Correction tho, ballista charge doesn't do more dmg
The meathook has to show up atleast at the last part of Doom TDA cause it would explain how he got it and also it solidifies the SSG with the meathook as the original Doomguy SSG. Cause ya know, 2016 SSG is just a regular SSG still UAC made but nothing like the Doomguy upgraded SSG that went through hell with him.
I don't know why, but for some reason the shotgun sticky bombs tickle my brain in just the right way. Ripping off consecutive headshots, or hitting enemies from across the arena while dodging like a madman... Idk it just feels fantastic to use. In comparison I was honestly disappointed by the Super Shotgun. Just feels gross to use, i think it's how wide the spread is. Also takes away ammo that could be used for sticky bomb snipes.
Please do an ultrakill vid, of the 27 weapons in the game, there’s only one I would call bad, and another that’s irrelevant if you can parry. Meaning you may not get a bad weapon academy out of it, but it would still be fun to hear you talk about it.
Looking at your Nu Doom videos, I feel like the problem with the weapons is that of redundancy. Instead of just one gun for one kind of job, you're giving the player the illusion of choice with not only weapon mods, but also weapons that fill identical roles (like, this tierlist has three times the entries of Classic Doom weapons). Mixed with the theorically Infinite ammo that glory kills give you and the ridiculously small ammo reserve cap, weapon switch is something that the game forces on you rather than a concious choice in part of the player.
Chainsaw kills refilling ammo in NuDoom has to be the single worst design decision ID Software ever made: -The Rocket Launcher and Plasma Rifle can't be power weapons like in the classics, because you could just spam them on everything and then refill ammo as soon as the fuel counter regenerates. -The Unmaykr can't use cells like in Doom 64, because you could just spam it on everything and refill ammo as soon as the fuel regenerates. -DPS weapons can't be as efficient as weapon swap combos, or else you could just spam Micro Missiles, Mobile Turret, and Heat Blast Mastery from across the map and then refill ammo as soon as the fuel regenerates. The entire classic FPS arsenal perfected in Quake II was designed around ammo being limited resources placed throughout the levels. When you take that aspect away from Doom in an attempt to turn it into some kind of Overstimulation TikTok Hero Movement Shooter, you just end up with the entire arsenal feeling underwhelming just so players can't spam anything. Even then, there's enough wiggle room in Eternal's overcorrected design that you could just spam 4 Lock-On Bursts against 99% of the opposition, wait for the fuel cooldown with Energy Shield and Ice Bomb, and spam 4 Lock-On Bursts again. We can only hope that The Dark Ages is able to have a more cohesive vision for NuDoom, since it won't have to scrap an unbalanced draft half-way through development. I have a bad feeling that it will go so far in the Fun Zone direction, though, it will completely alienate fans of the classics.
@@IDrinkLava All of your criticisms are just saying exactly why the game is designed the way it is lmfao. And you just directly contradict yourself by saying you're forced to play quickswitch, then saying you can just use one weapon in 99% of encounters. Pick a lane bro.
@@DaisiesTC "All of your criticisms are just saying exactly why the game is designed the way it is lmfao." The game is not designed perfect. It's actually quite flawed. "And you just directly contradict yourself by saying you're forced to play quickswitch, then saying you can just use one weapon in 99% of encounters." I didn't contradict myself. The Fun Zone contradicts itself by giving players a noob cannon like the Lock-On Burst and free stun options, mostly likely as concessions to console players.
@@IDrinkLavaI don't care I enjoy the game and love it to death. I'm good at it, if you don't learn how to play it and have fun with it, then go back to classic doom and shut up. 4 years of having to argue against LIES and people that just don't understand resource management, which is funny because classic doom also had resource management!
Tbf heat blast stuns in an aoe, not just one target
I'm more of a classic Doom gamer than a modern era one but is a tier list like this really necessary? Oh well, I suppose at the very least its entertaining and good for the channel.
Love doom eternal and your content! This is a win win
SS tier is a Reinhardt cosplay
Reinhardt got the BFG ability?!?
@@aleflippy1997 its an overpowered flamestrike
1:26 - it depends on where do you hit, i don't know if spread is random but it is pretty controloble if you know where to show (i.e. bodyshot close range will stager zombie gunners and kill imps, hitting to the side staggers imps and, on second shot, staggers zombie gunman. imps have the same health as those fodder unarmed zombies)
Doom Eternal's shotguns all fire fixed spread patterns, but with randomized decals to give it the illusion of being RNG for...some reason.
@@IDrinkLava i see, i guess they though set pattern of spread would look wierd
18:38 missing 6 shots in a row with the ballista is rough lol
At the start of my Ultra-nightmare runs I would have agreed with you on the placement of the plasma beam, but eventually I realized that it was more useful than I initially thought, mainly for locking down the most powerful enemy in the arena and removing them from the picture. I would've put it in B, maybe even A, but most likely B.
Weapon rankings have always seemed like a strange case to me
Puting rock jump on the rocket section is a good choice
Micro-missile main here. Appreciate the love you give em. Cheers
Rocket launcher F tier cant rocket jump 😔
Surprised rocket jump isn't a thing in doom more often.
the sticky grenade combat shotgun is actually pretty useful, a single sticky grenade into a cacodemons mouth instantly makes them able to glory kill
Can't wait for you to come out with new Doom videos for the new Doom Game. Also, if you have the time, I would love to see your opinions on the Unmaykr from Doom 64.
did you play the mod kaisercampain? because it is entirely balanced around the hammer and it is charged with weak point breaks and blood punch kills. i think you need four of ether to charge it up
Came for the TF2 vids, stayed for the Fish. Keep it up brother
I’d actually be really interested in seeing a full tier list on just the fun feel of each weapon
I feel another thing to add to the precision bolt is that it's better on pc than it is on console. Being able to swap at the press of a button and flick onto a demon's head is way easier on pc since for console you have to open up the weapon wheel, select the weapon, ads, move slowly to their head then shoot.
I love vids like this for some reason.
I refuse to take this list seriously after seeing missiles, stickies and meme beam in such low tiers
Soldier theme in rocket launcher part 👍
Clicked for Doom, stayed and subscribed for Melee music
26:41 you can use crucible to kills dlc enemies even possessed one. If you're playing something like randomizer or moded levels that had dlc enemies spawns in the base campaign a quick crucible would still worth it
You forgot that beam can be used in a quick switch to stun lock enemies but aside from that everything is perfect here and i got to know new things even!
Correction tho, ballista charge doesn't do more dmg
fish came in clutch just as i started my ultra nightmare run
an in defence of remote detonation maybe ?
The meathook has to show up atleast at the last part of Doom TDA cause it would explain how he got it and also it solidifies the SSG with the meathook as the original Doomguy SSG. Cause ya know, 2016 SSG is just a regular SSG still UAC made but nothing like the Doomguy upgraded SSG that went through hell with him.
I’m very interested in seeing a similar thing for Fallout: New Vegas’s unique weapons
If your on your 2nd or 3rd play through the super shotgun is the best weapon in the whole game. And then I remembered the ballista
26:36 and doom hunter, even the nonboss version takes 2 crucible swings
I have the game but haven't played it yet - I'll save this video and rewatch it a second time when I'll play it!
Good video, good editing, nice.
Ah yes, the Sentinel Hammer.
The Urshifu of Doom Eternal
man i just can’t wait to get that new pc next week and play this masterpiece
i did play a bit on console at a frinds place but its not the same
fishstickonastickrankseveryweapon,fromworsttobestinDOOMeternal
13:19 you don't need to save it for "special occasions" lmao. Just use the chainsaw for more ammo
Also takes away ammo that could be used for sticky bomb snipes.
if the sticky bomb launcher doesnt get number 1 i will riot
prepare for the riot
Chainsaw kills refilling ammo in NuDoom has to be the single worst design decision ID Software ever made:
-The Rocket Launcher and Plasma Rifle can't be power weapons like in the classics, because you could just spam them on everything and then refill ammo as soon as the fuel counter regenerates.
@@DaisiesTC "All of your criticisms are just saying exactly why the game is designed the way it is lmfao."
The game is not designed perfect. It's actually quite flawed. That's why DPS weapons are woefully inadequate compared to weapon switch combos at high levels of play besides Energy Shield.
"And you just directly contradict yourself by saying you're forced to play quickswitch, then saying you can just use one weapon in 99% of encounters."
I didn't contradict myself. The Fun Zone contradicts itself by giving players a noob cannon like the Lock-On Burst and free stun options, mostly likely as concessions to console players.
@@IDrinkLavaI don't care
I enjoy the game and love it to death. I'm good at it, if you don't learn how to play it and have fun with it, then go back to classic doom and shut up. 4 years of having to argue against LIES and people that just don't understand resource management, which is funny because classic doom also had resource management! The main difference is that if you ran out of ammo, you had to look for it on the map... wait, there's also ammo pick ups on Doom Eternal! How strange!
Calling it a TikTok-fucking-whatever... are you 60 years old dude? Come on! YOU DON'T HAVE TO PLAY LIKE A MANIAC TO SUCCEED!
"you control the buttons you press" goodbye
Doomguy came into heck and doomguyed everywhere
I really wanna see fish do more boomer shooter content, it would be awesome
The heavy assault rifle also gets minus points for being so danm ugly, is like they tortured a p90 and grafted it on an evil scifi energy weapon.
The only good thing bout the microwave beam other then spirits is it’s shockingly good for the doom hunters shield since you don’t have to aim it as much
Wake up babe new fish was added to the stick
I never got why a shotgun combined with a grenade launcher is so popular, doesn't make sense. Autoshotgun makes way more sense. Also I'm really bad at aiming sticky bombs at cacodemon mouths.
22:55 hell knight jumpscare
I would love to see a video like this on ultrakill
Can’t imagine how long it took to make those graphics. Looked fantastic though
I dont like destroyer blade simply because it isnt siege mode
2:06 remember
doom eternal does not have sound
Good and happiness wins again!
The best Doom weapon is definitely Doomguy
i love the tf2 theme on the rocket launcher lol
i will not stand this combat shotgun slander
Yeah, but... what about the Pistol? ;)
So the Heavy Cannon micro missile mod makes you Soldier TF2?
The only one I really disagreed with is remote det rockets. The falters are really nice and you don’t even need the mastery for it
