    My mother used to talk to me the way that Desiree's mom does. I still remember most of the nasty things she said to me. I'm fifty now and she lives with me and my family. We got past it, but I have never completely let go of it. It's just so hurtful.

      I could be wrong, but looking at the age differences, mum had this girl while quite young. Could have been an unplanned teenage pregnancy, and mum feels resentful. Would explain some things , specially as girl approaches teenhood herself

    I actually feel really bad for Desiree. Just because she’s going through the adolescent and the attitude stage does not give Marla the right to make threats to her face and say that her whole life is an accident.       @@purebliss505 ikr, the oldest suffers the most (i am the oldest) and i can say that anything that everything the middle and younger children do, is blamed on the oldest and any little mistake you make isn't okay because your... ofcourse the oldest. my 10 yrs old brother can pee on the floor he's the youngest so they would see it as alright but if i do that as the oldest idek if I will even be alive anymore. And the middle child is always the sneakiest, i swearrrr.

      @@LyricalMiracle1 in my opinion, it varies between every family. i'm the oldest child but i can see how the middle child is treated the worst (in my family). but i can also see hundreds of youngest children, middle children, and oldest children who have suffered in their own families. so, i think it just depends on the family.

      I'd say the mum was worse, she was so lazy and unwilling to change. Sure, the dad was the same at the beginning but to give him credit where credit is due, he did step up and made an effort which is more than I saw the mum do.

    Everyone is talking about how Jerald was bad at the beginning, and while I agree he did realize that he was really wrong. He took charge of the whole thing, embraced the challenge head on, and pretty much resolved all of his issues before Jo even left the first time. I think he really matured in that short time, and people aren’t giving him credit for it.

      My mum did that too. When my mum doesn’t get what she wants she screams, shouts, calls names, swears and storms off. Now she wonders why I need so much therapy

      My thoughts exactly why is everyone trying to call out the dad when the mum was WAY worse?? At least the dad did try to step up and make an effort to change which is more than I saw the mum do.

      Because the mom is unhappy in her relationship with her husband and most importantly with herself. So she takes it out on everyone including her kids sadly. Sad mom, sad life. Happy mom, happy life. We really do set the vibes of the family.

      @@jannahudah1509 Yeah, for real, if the dad is actually her biological dad, he would've been 19 at the time. I think there have been several episodes of supernanny where the moms were teens when they had kids. Since the parents were immature themselves, it's no wonder the kids behaved the way they did.
