It’s sad cause she did it because Jo gave her attention. The mom is so defensive all because deep down she knows she’s not meeting the social and emotional needs of her child and it hurts her ego to shine light onto that

That's sounds true. Kids that age usually are just wanting their parents and would be shy of strangers. Definitely, would prefer their parent and not be climbing on someone they just meet.

Initially I thought the older two boys were upset with the stepdad because his mom recently married him and they couldn’t adjust, but they have been married for 13 years! Those boys were very young when they got married. I’m sure the step dad has showered them with love, but they behave poorly towards him because of the mom’s words. Very sad

I got the impression there was more to the story with how much the husband kept going on about how forgiving his wife was. I think the boys are maybe repeating what they've heard said about their dad from their mom and possibly biodad, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were holding back part of the issue

I think one of the worst things in any family is the overuse of technology in the home. Everything ranging from family members camping on their cell phones at the dinner table at home or in restaurants, video games to "babysit" or "entertain" the children, instead of interacting with them in family activities, parents and kids spending most of their time on social media, or other computer sites. Lack of actual parenting and discipline seems to be the thing of the past. Children act like disrespectful little jerks at home and in public, and parents are too busy with themselves to raise them correctly and actually participate in their children's lives. No structure, no boundaries, no accountability, etc.. This happens more often than not in many many families. Set limits for video games, computers and cell phone access. Make them do their homework, and stop expecting their teachers to raise your kids.

I think the 2 older boys were withholding vital information. I dont think the only reason why they dont respect the stepfather is because he's a "free-loader"

The reason he loves her is “she is very forgiving???!?!!” That’s a strange quality to love someone for.
Sounds like there’s some betrayal there on multiple levels.

Yeah, it seems like there’s more to the story. And why don’t we ever hear the oldest daughter mentioned at all? I would think her relationship with them would at least be relevant, even if she is away at school.

Excuse me miss ma’m…you married this man fully aware of his profession and his income. If you didn’t want to be the breadwinner, you should have married someone else. You can’t disrespect your husband like that, especially not in front of the kids.
