    There is a big confusion regarding the Sensor of the GH7. Because a lot of the GH7 camera tech reviewer that have had the possibility to test the camera before the announcement were mentioning that the Gh7 has the same sensor like the G9ii. And so I thought it was according to them. BUT apparently after I've seen the interview from B&H with Brad Cohn, Sr. Account Manager at Panasonic North America, he made it clear that this is an enhanced sensor from the G9ii and has improved dynamic range!
    I linked the video of B&H into my descriptions! Let's let the reviewers know about this! 🔥 UPDATE 🔥 Richard Wong saw this video and he made the test in last minute before he had to return the camera! Here it is! ruclips.net/video/J2PrrBRbH84/видео.htmlsi=Tr9x8qTyN9ECQ6H8

It's not a perfect test but I need to return the camera tomorrow and got a few other things I need to do before that, so this is what I can do for you right now. Sorry it is really not so much a dynamic range test, but still I hope it give you some idea if it's the same sensor or not.

      Thanks man, I'm still have some doubts to the GH7 at the moment. Need to see some more tests, that almost no reviewer did. Like if the GH7 dynamic range has improved over the G9ii like they claim or not. Otherwise I might go with full frame as a second camera and make it to my A cam.. Will see, not sure yet

      @LakeshoreProductionsTV 4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, full frames are nice, and I don't blame you for waiting it's a tough decision. I still use my panasonic hc-vx870 for backup but I heard if you can find a cheap Canon m5 for 300 it's got decent cinematic features might be something to consider. I'm trying hard to get my hand on the leica lens but still a bit pricey if I can find a used one I might snag it up

    Seriously, I'm not sure the difference is huge, the base sensor of the GH6, G9II and GH7 is the same, it is the same 25,2MP Towersemi sensor. The difference is they have tweaked the sensor for PDAF on the G9II and changed the implementation of DR Boost to be used at base ISO most of the time (except for 120fps, very high burst mode and very slow shutter speed), giving very slightly worse very high ISO performance on the G9II (at ISO 2000) compared to the GH6. On my GH6 and G9II, I can see the effect of DR boost being enabled on the G9II even at ISO 100, it doesn't make a big difference in video at this ISO compared to the GH6, but it makes a difference in raw when you want to lift your shadows. It also makes a good difference in V-Log at ISO 500 since on the GH6 the DR BOOST can only be enabled at ISO 2000 (800 for stills and video standard profiles).
    Panasonic did the same with their L mount camera since 2019 (S1,S5,S1H,S5II), they still use the same 2017 sensor from Sony, the same than the A7III, even on the S5II(X), they just added PDAF on it. The result is the S5II even 5 years after the S1 has still the same limitations like 4k30fps full frame or the same rolling shutter.

    • @kenslyder
      @kenslyder  4 месяца назад +1

      Hmm interesting. Didn't know about that but I suggest you to watch the video I've mentioned. It's in the description. After 30 minutes he starts to ask the Manager of Panasonic a few questions until he gets asked about the sensor.. G9ii vs GH7 and you'll see what he said.

    • @aiseurnae5976
      @aiseurnae5976 4 месяца назад +1

      @@kenslyder Yes but they said the same for the GH6 and G9II, and also for the S5 and S5II, the truth is the base sensor is exactly the same, they just added PDAF, and with the G9II they have changed the implementation of DR BOOST compared to GH6, which is a great addition for DR at low ISO, but saying the sensor is different is mostly marketing. Besides, among from the many reviews of the GH7, the DR, IBIS and colors look really the same than the G9II.
      I think the GH7 will be interesting for people using the cameras in extreme conditions to prevent overheating, and also for some people wanting the best latitude and the less image processing as possible (NR and sharpening). But I think the cost of storage and time will not make this feature very popular for most users, and at least 90% of people could be satisfied with the lighter and smaller G9II.
