I would wait to see if it doesn't have the audio issues that plagued many (if not all) copies of the S5II/X among other possible problems we saw on previous cameras.
People are brainwashed by full frame, and dont realize that a camera like this is so much better, and its good to see Panasonic and OM System are giving micro 4/3 some love
As a photographer who does a horde of nightlife events, there's nothing this micro sensor can do for me. Their lowlight performance doesn't hold up at all and it doesn't make us brainwashed for knowing what we want; that's just the facts.
Same i love the mft system but the camera is capable in low light with the right lenses but the mft lenses that are 2.8 and lower are really really hard to come by in proper focal length. I've shot with the gh4, gh5, g95, g9 and I just updated to the s5iix. So trust me it's not a bias I have the experience.
The G9 mkii also demonstrated that M4/3 isn't dead. It doesn't have the same following and fan base as full frame cameras, but the people who love it do so for good reasons and the full frame market doesn't have compelling reasons to give up on it. M4/3 will be with us a lot longer yet.
@@aliendroneservices6621 meaning that the makers of full frame cameras don't have a compelling reason for people who use M4/3 cameras to change to full frame cameras.
Maybe it would have "the following" if they actually made m43 cameras anymore. Where are the G, GX and GM series? I'm still waiting for something light with PDAF to replace the G85, because lugging around 800g of an m43 camera is just ridiculous :)
@@j_mundane I'm not sure I would consider G9 II an addition to the G series seeing as it's basically a fanless (or photocentric) version of their flagship, the GH7. I was thinking more along the lines of their midrange offerings like the good old G85/G90 :)
@@geraldundone Another question: B&H says the 5.8K open gate recording is limited to 4:2:0 10-bit long GOP, and is only available in H.265. But it also says it can record 5760x4320 (which would be 5.8K open gate) in 12-bit RAW via HDMI, but none of the reviews I've seen go into much detail about using external recorders, so can you confirm if this is true?
Thanks for the great review, Gerald. It’s good to see you and Lumix working together so well after your previous video. The XLR kit with the 32bit audio is much more important than most people think. I just hope the GH7 preamps are better than those in the S5II/S5IIx. Looks like a really good camera to be honest and you can find ways to work around it’s flaws/limitations.
If sigma could make a speedbooster that has the autofocus performance of the Sigma MC-21 on the S5ii that would be amazing! Sig,a 18-35 on a GH7 would be a hell of a combination

Hi Gerald. Thanks very much for the comprehensive review. The value of dynamic range at 9:00 appears very high considering this is still a micro four thirds camera. You have measured this in open gate which is great but not what all users do. Normally you would get a drop of -0.2 for the 16:9 crop and a benefit of 0.58 stops for the oversampling best case making this a very high 12.4 stops DR in 16:9. Did you measure DR in 4k 16:9 which is then compareable with other cameras that are not offering open gate?
That ending was 10/10. Also, great review like always. I do have a question though for you Gerald. Would it be possible to do a latitude test as well with camera reviews or is that too much extra effort?
