It sure sounds like some of those SD shots *_ARE_* going supersonic, at least to me it does. Though, that could also be a trick of the audio capture system. I would love to see a comparison between a suppressed K and full-size. Theoretically the K-pdw/K-N barrel should still be short enough to render anything over 115grn subsonic, but short barrels also take more volume to suppress due to less complete powder burn. It might be worth also testing/trying with the Sig 365 branded 9mm ammo, or any other optimized for short barrels.
@@dark2023-1lovesoni this and other MP5SDs have 30 ports drilled into the start of the barrel. I have a link to my Favorite Gun MP5SD video when I talk about it and shoot the full magazine. (A MP5 is basically the same, but without the ports.) The rounds are definitely staying subsonic through it. I was using supersonic rounds with the MP5 and Wolfman for the 100 yards and full magazine. Even the Federal Suppressor 124 grain subsonic rounds going 1034 fps were subsonic at my elevation, temperature, and humidity. Some of the rounds did ricochet and maybe that’s what you heard. It’s probably that or the sound not relaying well either through my DJI microphone on my shirt or your speaker.
@@dark2023-1lovesoni I’m sure supersonic versus subsonic depends on how close it is loaded to the speed of sound per barrel length as well as the environment you’re in. I recently got some Longhorn 124 grain subsonics hoping they would be about the same as my Federal American Eagle Suppressor 124 grain subsonics. Good stuff, i would of liked to hear how 158 grain ppu ammo would of sounded in those. I have a zenith mp5k suppressed with a GSL phoenix and its super quite with subs, love to death.
That Phoenix has some serious volume inside! I bet it sounds good and have seen it on Pew Science. @@spoonskill7080 I started with the K because I liked how compact it was and it looked so cool. Not many manufacturers were making either at that time over a decade ago. I’ve definitely grown fond of the standard MP5 now. Faster bullets with the longer barrel. It’s quieter suppressed and unsuppressed. You don’t have to change the 100 degree locking piece in the standard MP5 for a suppressor and heavy subsonic rounds, but it’s recommended to change the 110 or 115 degree in a K to an 80 or 90 degree locking piece (and probably rollers too for a correct bolt gap) when shooting 147 grain subs or heavier. The standard MP5 has a longer sight radius for better aiming. You can sbr it and have a solid, collapsing or side folding stock. I have a Surefire 328 flashlight handguard on one of mine and love that setup with the solid A2 stock. The K runs faster than the standard MP5 with a binary trigger. I’d make a list with your priorities and some will rank higher than others, and get the one that’s best for you to start. It’s great that they use the same mags and you can get the other one in time :)
