You missed when Shuri and Okoye were in Riri's dorm, and Okoye said "good luck defeating [Namor] with a heater", which ends up being exactly Shuri's plan in the final act

When Shuri told namor: "Vengeance has consumed us, we must not let it consume our people." That line devastated me in theaters, being the line T'Challa said to Zemo at the end of Civil War, they both went on a very similar journey after the loss of a parent. So gripping.

Did you notice that both Killmonger and Shuri are separated by the lush ancestrial plane by a window. They both see a place where they can commune with the ancestors, but it is unattainable due to their blinding anger and focus on the place of their trauma.

The opening sequence got me good. My theater was SILENT while the logo played. It was such a touching tribute to both the person and the character. ☹️🖤💜

I think this really capped off Phase 4 nicely.
It made me realize that the main overarching theme of phase 4 was laid out in the WandaVision series finale, Visions line: "What is grief, if not--love persevering?" And that really hits home in this film.
Same! I cried when I first watched it. Despite some small blunders with production, marvel studios has really done a great job laying the foundation for the next 2 phases, while also having its own arch and meaning, helping us all move on from all of the losses of phase 3 .

One Easter egg I noticed that you didn’t talk about one was the license plate number on the van that Ross was in. The number was CB112976! That was Chadwick’s birthday!! November 29, 1976. I love that they put this in here ❤❤

Actually the joke with Riri’s dorm door is that it says “solve or don’t knock”, and obviously it’s an unsolvable equation.
Namor aka Kukulkan was maybe one of the best antagonists of the MCU franchise. His powers were much greater than I expected and his background story was really good!

thank you for saying antagonist, cause he 100% was not the villain of the movie. he was entirely justified throughout in my opinion (kidna similar to Killmonger) just with occasional slips in judgement. the same could be said of the Wakandan leadership in this movie. both sides flawed, but eventually understand that they need to stand together

Hes the villain because he brutally killed relentlessly, including shuris mom. Hes poetrayed as being nearly Unstoppable, yet shuri panther defeats him? Thats stupid. The heart shaped herb doesn't make you thor level strong either, its more akin to making you captain america level strong
Another thing I noticed was that during the bridge fight between Attuma and Okoye, Namora tosses the water grenade thingy to Attuma and he uses his hip to hit it into Okoye in a similar fashion to how that Mayan ball game is played.
Saw the movie in 3d and that part got me lmao I straight up jumped in my seat

The surprise moments (Killmonger, Ramonda's death) were truly unexpected but really gave the movie gravity. I could FEEL the grief from Ramonda, Shuri, Okoye, Nakia, even Namor's grief for his mother. Very solid MCU movie, not just for phase 4. I was in my feelings the whole time and I love when a movie does that. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up for Mr. Coogler and th whole cast! Great ending to this phase of the MCU. Now bring on Kang!!!!

The movie was BEAUTIFULLY done. I’m so glad that the director allowed us to grieve with the movie, verses pretend like it never happened. I loved the fact that the director chose an actor that in close relationship to that (Spanish) culture as the antagonist and didn’t show them to be weak as a different culture. A lot of teachable moments in this as well.

I think one thing I like is how throughout the film Shuri talks down on her A.I and not treating him with respect but as she tries to recreate the heart shaped herb she says please to him. It's small but I thought it was quite a sweet detail

I love that the theme of phase 4 can be described as two things
“What is grief, if not love persevering?”
And self love. With the whole idea of the multiverse, the main form of personal development that can come with that is learning to love the life you live. Like Wong’s line in MoM, “sometimes I wonder of my other lives, yet I remain eternally grateful in this one.”
I'd say the Loki series embodies the whole self-love idea as well. And not because of Sylvie, but rather Loki himself getting over his self-loathing.

I really liked that when the opening credits scenes played it was quiet. During other parts, when silence sequences played it was also silent. It had the very respectful intended effect of a moment of silence. Truly such a great film and tribute.
Also - I really liked that this touched on the colonization of Latin America. I also liked the metaphor that as people of color we sometimes fight each other, but in the end we must remember to support one another to end centuries of oppression.

Letitia Wright stepped up in this film and did an amazing job, everybody did but she really showed how much she cared about this film.
I just wanted to hop on here and say thank you for creating these breakdowns. I'm totally blind, and while descriptive audio (an accessibility feature that aurally describes what's happening in a movie/any kind of video content) is great, it can't pick up everything. Videos like this make the movie experience even more accessible to blind and visually impaired people. And most trailers don't even have descriptive audio, so your trailer breakdowns are even more help. Please, never stop doing what you're doing! Wakanda forever🙅♀️!

I thought that the whole grieving moments were done so incredibly well and authentic. It was such a great move to let the intro be absolutely silent as it truly confronted us with the absence of Chadwick/T’challa

I loved seeing Killmonger again in the sequel. It was great seeing them one by one return, in some shape or form.

I cried so much watching this movie. I truly believe Angela basset deserves an Oscar nomination for her performance.
I saw this in theaters last night and two things of the many I thought were great. 1 the dedication to Chadwick Boseman was very touching everyone in the theater started clapping. 2 while they did not bring Killmonger back to life I'm still glad he had a presence in this movie and Shuri was almost possessed by him in her quest for vengeance against Namor. I also loved the connection (romantic or not) between Shuri and Namor when she goes to Talokan great movie

The opening sequence was just pure goosebumps. The whole theatre was just feeling it and you could tell, and how at the end you hear Shuri’s silent cry, my god the tears! 😢
Namor yielding to Shuri is like a parallel to M'Baku yielding to T'Challa in the waterfall fight. It was never just about their personal agendas (vengeance) or proving who's stronger. It was about the people who will suffer if the war were to continue and escalate.
Very great parallel to draw! And the people of Wakanda always pull up a seat and talk with their enemies instead of killing them most of the time. Beautiful humanity in them.
THANK YOU! So many people don't get this. Killing lone wolves or gang leaders has no major impact in the same way that killing the leader of a nation.
Also sad you didn't mention how Shuri mirrored almost one for one T'Challa's line in Civil War about vengeance towards Namor.

The symbol in Shuri's funeral dress is an Adinkra symbol from Ghana. That particular symbol is called Nyame Dua in Twi literally translated "God's tree".A symbol of God's presence and protection.
During the title card, I loved how it was silent. It was so silent in my theater you could hear pen drops. It was so beautiful and breathtaking.
Such a wholesome movie. After finishing the movie, I couldn't drive back hone immediately. I sat for a 20-30 minutes processing the whole experience. We need more these kind of movies.

The movie has so many layers as a Tribute to Chadwick, another exciting Marvel Movie, and an exploration of different cultures. It's such a cool movie.
This film ends the phase 4 in a beautiful way. Everyone was phenomenal. I surely can't wait for a Namor film and Okoye's character arc in Midnight Angel.

At first I was annoyed of how Shuri quickly brushed off being impaled by a vibranium spear, but then later thinking about it, it was actually foreshadowed on in the bridge fight scene, where the talokan soldiers were cut down and impaled by a vibranium spear but got up moments later.
Maybe the herb that the talokan and Shuri used might grant some regenerative abilities.

When Ramonda and Shuri are at the beach, Ramonda references finding t'challa presence after searching for a long time, meaning she found her grandson.
The amount of silence in this movie was so moving. The absence of the king. A beautiful movie… unmatched
That is an astute observation! And they filled those "silences" with so much- the wardrobe, the soundtrack, the breathtaking sets. It was rich and full every second!

I love that Marvel is exploring this because it couldn't have come at a better time from during and post-covid where so many have lost loved ones or other reasons they've passed and helping others learn how to navigate that while life has changed in general. I think Marvel has been very smart about that now than they have ever been and it works. They make us think about what is important in life. I appreciate that.
Namor was my favourite part of the movie, he was such an interesting character I can't wait to see more of him. Also makes me sad about how good Gorr could have been in another directors hands.

Man, I cried twice during this movie. The opening scene got me good and the end... just thinking about it makes me again ugly cry... the whole movie was so moving, so beautiful. At first I couldn´t imagine it without Chadwick but It was a masterpiece. Loved every second of it. Rest in peace king. Wakanda forever!

I also like the detail of the ancestral plane for shuri starting in water because the plants from the bracelet was a water version of the heart shaped herb
You missed the small detail that Attuma sends over the water grenade with his hip, during the bridge battle, just like the real world mayan ball sport (which they DO play in Talokan!).

angela bassett did the damn thing in this movie and also had me bawling when that twist happened. also shouts out to my cousin joe robert cole who co-wrote this with ryan, joey and ryan did a great job portraying grief.

that marvel studios title card was such a punch to the gut. the silence of it all was so LOUD
The beautiful moment of seeing this film in person was during that moment of silence during the opening credits, then again at the end. The theatre was dead silent, no coughs or clearing throats just dead silence, and it was just an amazing moment to experience.
9:27 plus, a song sung for a dead elephant is used as a leitmotif in “Wakanda” and “A King’s Sunset.”
I loved riri’s connection with the MIT admission statement from Tony. Truly ready for the Ironheart series.
On the Marvel in the beginning half of the screen is purple, but the bottom half is dark blue. Dark Blue is the color of Colon Cancer awareness. Not sure if that was a connection and a nod to Chadwick or if I’m just reaching. This whole production was a masterpiece. I hope Chadwick is looking down on us smiling.

From story, to screenplay, from direction to acting, from character development to casting. This movie had it all. I simply loved it. Though I was worried about this movie after watching the sad joke of love n thunder but the dedication of this movie's team shows in the final product.
I also love how in contrast to some films in phase 4 it has a solid consistent tone. Comedy is nicely placed. And its overall serious. I love it

It amazes me how this channel has leveled up. I just watched Jessica Clemons and MT's breakdown videos and now Eric's and I just gotta say, major kudos to all of yall who've been consistently killing it and finding that groove.
I think when Namor says that last line when the surface people will come for Wakanda and turn to Talocan, he was talking about Val and US which is being controlled by Skrulls. So i think i wont be surprised if Wakanda will be part of Secret Invasion.

this movie was a surprise. i’ve been used to getting disappointed by the MCU lately and i went in expecting to not like this, but was pleasantly surprised. this one took more risks, less jokes, more serious action (ex, killing romanda, shuri fully getting stabbed and almost dying). i did not expect shuri being such a force in this movie. i would say this is the second best movie to come out of phase 4 next to no way home

Your breakdown really makes me appreciate the movie more. Wakanda Forever is indeed a beautiful and powerful movie and it's not just a movie for me but a memorial to Chadwick Boseman passing.

You know what sticks out to me in this movie? Well, a lot does, now that I think about it, but one thing I don’t see talked about very much is just how well they did Talokan. Not only does it look absolutely breathtaking, but it’s FULLY believable that this has been here all this time and was able to go undetected. Deep ocean is something we know VERY little about, in fact even less than the stars above us. The MCU has explored so many corners of space and time, and has even delved into the multiverse, but the deepest corners of our own planet were still unexplored- until now.
I’d like to believe Talokan physically IS on Earth, rather than being another plane of existence like Ta-Lo or K’un-Lun, though.
One thing I do find interesting that hasn’t been touched on is how, at one point, Namor says to (I think) Namora, “We will not have to move Talokan again.” This might not be exactly what was said, but it was basically implying that Talokan has been built in at LEAST one other location during Namora’s lifetime and they had to move… which begs the question: why did it have to move? Was there an encroaching civilization that was getting too close to discovering their existence? Was there an attack or some kind of civil conflict within Talokan?
Also, now that I think about it, if they were physically rebuilding Talokan in a different place, that might just confirm that Talokan is NOT in another realm like Ta-Lo or K’un-Lun. This makes sense to me especially since they built it entirely out of Vibranium, which I would imagine are not in the other realm and would be an extra step for them to rebuild if they were constantly hauling vibranium to and from the gate to the other realm.
Yes I think it is meant to be in this plane/dimension/Earth, etc...but that is probably some foreshadowing we might learn more about in upcoming movies...they definitely left much of that story untold which leaves so much to unfold. (Also saying this as someone who loves MCU but hasnt read the comics!- so im not most informed haha)

I thought K'un-Lun was on Earth, it's just the passageway to it can only be found from the outside every once in a while. It has been a bit since I've seen Iron Fist, though.
The vibe in the theater was wild! Cheers, cries, laughter. The storyline is carried out gracefuly post Boseman's death, he would be proud

Yer he was!! An absolutely worthy villain indeed, can't wiat for what's next with this character. Props to Coogler for making not one, but TWO worthy villains of the MCU!
I think the area Nakia dove into to find Shuri is the same place the old Talocanian priest dove to find that vibranium infused plant. There’s just more overgrowth and it looks worn down but I’m pretty sure it’s the same place.

A thing I noticed is that the organic printer Shuri used to make the herb was very similar to the device used to print Visions organics.
I cried the first five minutes. God, mere words could can describe how beautiful this was.
Ever since The Eternals I have theorized that the Vibranium meteorite was the celestial seed that didn't mature enough to hatch, if true this movie would suggest that there were multiple failed attempts at hatching a celestial in the earth.
So, would that make vibranium like alien STEM cells?

@Legend's Warble could explain how Vibranium can do basically anything, just like how stem cells can be turned into any other kind of cells, vibranium can have healing properties, enable communications, grow plants with magical properties, etc...

I kept thinking of T'Challa's line to Zemo in Civil War. Loved it
I think that moment went undetected because we just saw Namor who we thought was down and out stab Shuri in the stomach with that spear, so we were still on the edge of our seats expecting to see if Namor had one last trick up his sleeve.

Something about namor is so boyish and kind to me. Like giving shuri his moms bracelet is like behind niceties. His character was so developed. Maybe too developed as the movie was extremely long for me but certainly enjoyable.
I thought it was going to end with an consolidation of powers by the rulers of Wakanda and Talokan setting aside grudges and creating a tenuous alliance by dating/marriage which can still happen (I guess)
Another interesting parallel I noticed… in the first movie, T’Challa arose from dirt in the ancestral plain wearing an all white garment without a spot on him… and in this film, Shuri came out of water, yet she was completely dry.
I love how they did Riri’s character. A more grounded character than Iron Man and saying what the audience would say.
I loved how the world comes together to have a moment of peace for Chadwick in the opening Marvel credits. Thank you Marvel!
Just saw it for the ifrst time
I truly thought this film was amazing. Full of love and loss, grief and triumph. Action and cgi were both incredible. Decent humor, but not too much for the overall tone and depth it had. I loved it a lot. Came straight here after. Thx

That gun Nakia used was LETHAL against Talokanils, and it would've helped a lot in other scenes. I couldn't believe it did better than Okoye's vibranium spear.
The scene whith shuri remembering tachala was crazy in my theater as it was absolutely silent for that moment

What an emotional roller-coaster ride of a movie! Just when I thought I had recovered, it hits me with a sucker punch! My tears rolled freely and I was not ashamed... Chadwick Boseman, wherever you are, thank you and may you find peace, everlasting.
Shuri's gold suit is a direct refection of killmonger's suit as well. I thought that was a neat detail.
Great run down! This is such an emotional journey for everyone involved. Glad they were able to make such a powerful tribute to Chadwick.
This is imo one of the best if not THE best Marvel Studios movie when it comes to acting!!
Letitia and Tenoch really knocked it out of the field with their roles ñ! Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira and Lupita also bring their A game.
