    Growing up in Charleston, SC I’ve been fishing saltwater my whole life but I’ve never used a popping cork. We’ve always just used a standard bobber instead. But after watching this video I was given more than enough information to try out a popping cork. Thank y’all.

    Thank you so much for your channel. I am new to salt water, I'm a fly fishermen from Wyoming. I had the most productive day yet with a popping cork.
    Its a thrill to see that cork go deep six under the surface.
    I loose less rigs this way too because I'm above the grass. Im shooting for Speckled Trout, haven't got one yet but I got great hope now that I'm more in season and getting better every time out.

    Good video. I’m a huge popping cork user. If you want to use Palomar knot to tie leader to cork just tie the leader to cork before you tie cork to main line then you can use palomar for all 3 knots.

    Very useful and you always try to cover all the bases. If you were in shallow water would you pop more often to keep the lure up higher? Shorten the leader? I take it you can use live shrimp too? Keep them coming.

    • @landonhierholzer9787

      Chris Gonzalez I’d recommend a chart region. It’ll give you the depth of the water recorded at low tide

    • @TheSixStringGuy
      @TheSixStringGuy 5 лет назад +1

      I use about 2 to 3 foot of leader line. Its enough. Well, in the places i go inshore its perfect enough. Jist make sure ur line aint slack cause that means ur sitting on the bottom and crabs will mess with your head thinking you got a bite.

    How do you know how long to make your leader line?

    • @SwindleJr
      @SwindleJr 4 года назад

      If you have to cast it pretty far then shorter, and I think it just depends on how deep you want your jig to swim from there, longer=deeper

  • @watchan1908
    @watchan1908 5 лет назад

    so suspending the bait at the water column is the key of the design not the noise that it makes. i guess you have to take out the stuff that make it noise to compare it. the other thing is if the fish is hangout around 3 to 4 ft of water, would it be easier just to tie a cloth pin spinner and roll it slowly to get the fish?

      The brass side faces down, that’s where you tie you leader. Plastic side up (green beads) that’s where you would tie your main line Braid, Mono)

    I believe that you can still use the Palomar knot to attach the leader line. You just have to pass the leader line through the loop instead of what you're tying to. ;-)

    What size jig heads do you usually use under popping corks? Some people say that 1/4 oz heads can be too heavy and cause too fast of a drop after a couple of pops and that 1/8 oz or maybe even 1/16 oz are better. They say it effects the action of the soft plastic or at least the drop rate. It may effect the action of certain soft plastics but I don't know if it will matter with gulp shrimp considering their action is nonexistent. Thanks.

    • @NoScammers215
      @NoScammers215 6 лет назад

      Bob Gill lighter is always better. Use the lightest weight possible to get to and stay in the part of the water column that you want to fish.

    Hey man just discovered your channel. I’m doing some studying for my upcoming fishing trip to the coast. I will be “off shore” I guess but fishing mostly shallow water. I’m planning on using my concept a since it’s made to withstand salt and it has 30lb braid on it. Should I put my 7ft medium rod on it or keep the MH on it? We are targeting reds and specs. Hopefully a few flounder too.

    • @1997streetsaint
      @1997streetsaint 6 лет назад

      Alamo City Fishing i Fish the topsail area or North Carolina I would go with a medium. There’s some bull reds of the beach and some tarpon being caught as well. However for trout, founder and reds they are all inshore right now I use a battle 2 2500-3000 size reels with 15-20lb braid and that works great for me.

Those little speckled trout grow into big ones, if they survive your catching and releasing them, just sayin ...
