Good video & great tips. I've been using DOA & Cajun Thunder combos for several years fishin' down in southern Florida. Move up to Georgetown SC near Winyah Bay and have found that using your favorite loop knot on the DOA or other shrimp imitation lure helps it look & act more natural and will score you more bites than tying your flouro leader directly to it. Keep up the good work & tight lines.
Yes that certainly helps with the look know. During the fall when the fish are smacking everything in sight, I don't even bother with the look knot. During the slower months with warmer warmer temps, I'll tie the loop knot on.
Good luck today, Marc! Find the grass line, oyster beds and creeks mouth and throw at the points! You should find them there. Let me know how you do. 👊
Great video, and content...looks like another fun day. I use Four Horseman Popping corks (out of Louisiana), they pop SO loud, they are weighted and great to cast a far distance. Looking forward to the next video
Nice video Kevin! Back in town from fishing in Arkansas and going after stripers early tomorrow. But, got my son and his buddy in this weekend so it looks like I’ll have a couple of popping cork rigs set up. BTW, check back through your messages on here Larry, one of your subs, asked a question about the corks. Catch up soon! I hate you for making me want to throw a popping cork! 😂😂😂
Haha. As summer approached, it gets harder and harder to catch multiple redfish in the artificials. Therefore, I throw the cork to get them from time to time. I’ll have some corks tomorrow if I get out with my parents.
Nice video! Me and my pop's used to troll for the trout . Used the red heads and a sack full of different color soft baits. We would have a different color on our rods. Now I like to use the popping corks. My wife wants to get live bait and stay in one spot. She's old school. Meh
Yes, I have trolled for trout too with grubs. Works well for me in late summer and early fall. If we made a couple of passes and caught fish each time, we would anchor up.
Thanks man! I tried to get as specific as possible on how to use these baits. It’s super easy once you find the fish. If this video I am using an older G Loomis GL2 and an older Shimano Stradic 3000 reel. It’s perfect for throwing a popping cork.
Cool but DOA'S have only been around for 20+ years lol. Yeah the beaded corks make more noise, prob produce a few more fish but you can use a reg popping cork as well. Those Cajun corks aren't cheap
Have you tried the VuDu Shrimp under a cork? They have a more realistic drop and look under water, though your spankin em with that D.O.A. Just Curious
Yes I’ve used those as well under the cork but mainly only use them without a cork when I’m covering ground and trying to find the bite by jigging it off the bottom.
Great video, thanks for the details on bait and methods. Did you catch the trout with this method in the last few days? Are the shrimp in the creeks now?
Hey, thanks Tripp. Yes, I caught them a few days ago. I haven’t seen any shrimp in the creeks big enough for bait yet. I would say they will be back there by mid May/early June.
@@SCFishTales thanks. I hadn’t been successful with the artificial shrimp before the shrimp got to size in the creeks. Great to know! And I really appreciate all of your intel on techniques, lures etc. I fish down in Beaufort.
@@SCFishTales Let me know, would love to have you hop in my boat! September until water temps drop to 55 degrees I find the hottest trout bites. I target trout, catch a good many spot tails!

Really appreciate the time you took out to explain in such great detail. Great video brother.
Thanks Kyle. Appreciate the kind words and glad you enjoyed the video.

Yes, I’ve heard those work great! Planning on getting a couple of those and trying them out, as well as a few other brands.
Those were the good old days back in Fortescue man, lots of fun Kev.
Yes, I remember them like yesterday!
Looked like another great day out there. Enjoyed the intro showing what you use out there and the surprise red!
Thanks man!
Hey good for you! Great fun.
Thanks Danny!
Great video!
Thanks for the support.
awesome vid bro. keep it up. keep all the knowledge coming its so helpful!
Thanks Dustin. I’ll keep them coming! Please help spread the word to anyone you think might be interested in subscribing to the channel.
Nice video! We need to fish together some day.
Had to crack open an Octoberfest... Lookin fwd to Spring after the 2021 holidays!
Great choice in Octoberfest! Spring fishing should be on fire again if the milder temps hold up this winter.

Great video, thanks for posting. Just curious, where is this? Looks like the Stono.
Hey thanks for the comment. It’s actually in the ICW up by Capers.
Great video man. Super informative I usually don’t target trout but have been on them after some of your videos. Also what rod are you using?

Grew up fishing southern jersey as well. My first trout down here I thought it was a weakie.
Awesome! I miss catching the big weakies on shedder crabs.

Yeah man. I've been using the DOA shrimp for over 15 years or so. Still do the trick!!!

Yes ok, that would be fun for sure!
Nice work today!! What pound test do you use for your leader??
Hey man, thanks! I use 10lb braid with a 15lb fluorocarbon leader.
@@SCFishTales -- What rod & reel did you use? It looked like a 2500 but not sure if the brand. The action looked nice.
That an older style Shimano Stradic 3000 reel with a G Loomis popping rod.
@@SCFishTales -- Is a 2500 reel sufficient?
Yes, the only difference between a 2500 and a 3000 is the spool on the 3000 I'd bigger and can hold more line.
Love my poppin corks
Live on mosquito lagoon and indian river lagoon...even after all these fish kills and algae...they work.
Nice man. I am dying to get down there in Florida and fish those areas! I bet the corks don’t stay up much longer than five or 10 seconds down there.
5:49 that’s funny I think that’s the same house and dock from outer banks lmao
Haha. I never noticed that. I'll have to give it a closer look the next time I fish that area. Thanks for the heads up on it. Great show too!
How deep of water are you fishing in ?
That day it was between 3-5 feet deep.

Thanks for the videos I’m in Savannah and trying to learn how to catch trout and reds

You have to clean the camera
Thanks man. Sometimes when I get the fish into the boat it shoots a bit of water on the lens and I forge to clean it off. 😂
