    I thought i knew what I was doing, but my Dad got a guided trip, the guide used live shrimp at high tide, casted into the grass or edge of grass, very few pops, and we caught sheepshead, trout, red fish. We caught around 30 fish ! End up with at least a dozen keepers. What a difference a pro guide makes. I use his techniques still today.

    More wind = more pops, less wind less pops. Probably the most popular saltwater method from Texas to Louisiana for the dirty gulf coast water.

    Love an artificial under a cork, covers way more water and no need to re-bait…just add some scent and fill the box! Great video, excellent easy to apply tips, thanks.

    The Core Tackle Hover Rigs would be the perfect way to rig jigs for popping corks because they cause the jig to hang horizontally. Regular jigs hang head up at an angle.

    Rod tip low when popping. It creates a pendulum action on the shrimp etc. I’m sure you are used to your technique but truly it should be rod tip low to the water.

    Is there a minimum water depth you need to use a popping cork? Do you want your bait/lure to ever touch the bottom? Where exactly is the strike zone you refer to? Thanks!

    • @meb212
      @meb212 2 года назад +1

      Strike zone is very dependent on water depth. Depending on what you're targeting will depend on your strikezone. Example, if you're targeting trout, keeping it a couple to few inches above grass should be in an ideal spot! Hope that helps

    • @BlackMamba-lt8oe
      @BlackMamba-lt8oe 2 года назад

      predator fish like gt, barramundi, snapper are top water predators, all that fish target with popper will attract same fish and even more species

    What os the strike zone?

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  Год назад

      It is the part of the water column where the fish are feeding

    • @marcusramirez8486
      @marcusramirez8486 Год назад +1

      It's been my experience that the proper length of the lure and cadence (pops) plays the biggest factor. Fishing from a kayak opposed to other methods like wading or fishing from the boat can be entirely different or technique specific from each. Water depth is a considerable factor and fishing in shallow water whether to be stealth fishing ( not making noise) or if fishing variable water depths, like on a drift from the boat through various water depths, adjacent to deep channels and a flat, and strong winds this might require a faster cadence. I've had superior fishing days when you change your cadence and not just staying with one application (pops). As an avid fisherman I've found that not sticking to one method has put more fish in the box. They all work at different times. Just my opinion. Thanks

  • @artisticmetaldesigns3914

    Hey thanks but you did not talk about leader length, you dont think that's important?

  • @larrys9385
    @larrys9385 Год назад

    If you are using live shrimp, when you pop it a lot now you are jerking your shrimp too and it kills them faster.

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  Год назад +1

      The less pops the better. It won't help in keeping the shrimp alive but the action of the cork is enough to make the shrimp appear lively.

    • @kevineggsandbacon

      Try what I call the cocktail method. Hang your hook on the bell of the cork and then cast it. If you’re using the rounded trout cork just use your hook to wallow out a lil hole by the top. Hang it in there for casting. It makes it all fly together instead of flipping stretched out. Sometime the hook can get stuck on the bobber but an occasional recast is better than no good casts.
