I moved last year and was just getting skunked on the water around my new home. i decided to try Gulp baits on a whim and what a difference. I too am a believer.
Same here. I moved to the Chesapeake Bay area and I had never used Gulp when I was growing up in Florida. I moved away from the water for way too long and I got here last year. I tried other soft plastics and there's NO doubt that Gulp gets the most bites. But the tail biters trash Gulp a lot so I have Salt Strong, Z Man and other soft plastics and Dr Juice and ProCure to try also. I've done well with Gulp on a jig head with a popping cork. And I fish the bottom with 1/4 or 3/8 oz jig heads, sometimes 1/8 or 1/2, but if I only could have one size it would be 1/4. Recently I got some of the 4" curly tail grubs and I noticed that they're tougher than the shrimp or swimming mullet I usually use. I'll be trying them more. Hopefully the flounder like them.
Great video! I liked the on the water test, ha ha...7-2 win for Gulp, nice! I fished with them a couple of times. I don't use them because they are expensive and are not durable.
The scent on the gulp is definitely unreal, action wise and durability some of their competitors like Zman have them beat but the scent is unreal. When fish are picky up shallow and I’m sight fishing on the East coast of Florida I always have a pack of gulp shrimp as a last resort, it’s like crack to the fish.
I'll keep a fish or 2 for dinner but I release almost everything I catch. If they're bleeding bad or hurt I'll take them. But yeah, letting fish go feels good.
Wow...that is amazing. I actually saw this same test on another channel, but I'm definitely convinced that Berkeley gulp is by far a better lure. I'm definitely going to get some. I think I'll leave them in their original packaging as well. Thank you for the great video and information..
How did you do with the Gulp? I use different Gulp tails a lot for flounder, redfish and trout. And I catch lots of other fish on them. There's absolutely no doubt that Gulp gets bitten much more than other soft plastics. Even adding Dr Juice or ProCure to Z Man or Salt Strong or other soft plastics doesn't get bites like Gulp.
These things definitely lay down a scent trail. I fish from the bank a lot and I swap out rods as I fish. I usually let the gulps sit in the edge of the water so they won't dry out. Crabs LOVE gulps! They will come a long way to find them.
It's true, Gulp outfishes any other lure I've tried, and I catch better fish with it than the people using dead bait or FishBites most of the time. My buddy and I use Gulp a lot at the local pier and we outfish everyone regularly on Gulp swimming mullet or shrimp. I just got some curly tail grubs and they seem to be tougher than the other tails, they last longer with the tail biters but that curly tail gets nipped at a lot.
Do you have any issues with the suppressor rod guides rusting? I have been on the fence of getting one, and replacing all the eyes as all of the stainless steel guide rods I have rust even with a thorough rinse and/or soap scrub
Nice Video. I am presently getting away from Berkley Gulp. They are too fragile and not worth the expense. Yes they do work great but not worth it. I now use ZMAN with a little procure juice, I find Zman work just as good and last 10 times longer.
Fish bites are too stiff so they only provide scent. They work well for fish that you would use cut dead bait for. Fish like flounder also need lure action.
I don’t get the hate towards Gulp. It works every time and provides results. Maybe a combo of bugs bait with a gulp trailer would provide even better outcomes 👀
This was a paid sponsored video as the video suggested. Gulp did not influence Trailchaser at all. His opinions were based on his own personal experience. Gulp makes great lures that is actually backed by science. And after this session, I too am a true believer.
Dang brother you wouldn't spank a man's ass like that on his own boat would you that's just sad that you would do that to you buddy hell I like trail chaser I don't know if I want to go fishing with you hell I might not get to catch the first fish LOL figured you'd get a laugh out of that have a good day

Finally some sense to the scents. Got it now. Your video brought wisdom. Thanks.
Great video Nick that bait has been on the market for a while , glad you put science to the test

I appreciate the catch and release

Good stuff right here Nick! All that, and the sun hadn't even come up all the way yet.
Good day indeed!
See ya in the Jonskiff!!
“For most people hardheads as would be accurate” hahahahaha
TrailChaser did Gulp contact you too for the same experiment?
@@mehmetdtx no.
I rarely fish salt water so I use Gulp to have better chances. I wish they'd find a solution to pinfish biting the tails off!

So you are telling me I don’t need a crab trap lol
@@RXAngler I didn't say say were keeper crabs. Just big enough to bite the tail off. They are fast, too.
I’m learning this stuff but not abt lures it’s my bio chem class
Great vid gulps definitely are worth having around
Agreed
Great video! That first red was a giant 😵💫 I love using gulp. I’m also a noob at fishing. It helps me a lot.
👍

Yes!...the Gulp works..I tried it for the first time a few days ago in Sargent,tx
Nice!
Have u tried it at the dam or matagorda beach I caught 2 sheep heads
Whew! I am glad I am not the only one who uses chop sticks for everything imaginable! ;-)
Do you have any issues with the suppressor rod guides rusting?
I have been on the fence of getting one, and replacing all the eyes as all of the stainless steel guide rods I have rust even with a thorough rinse and/or soap scrub
Never had an issue with the guides since they are titanium with hard zirconian inserts.
@@RXAngler I just checked it before I saw the comment, I must be loosing it with all the research on rods I’m doing!
Thanks for commenting so quickly
Beautiful fish, Nick!!!
👊
Nice flounder.👍

How bout a test of the different lines? Braid, mono and fluoro. What casts the best and fishes the best?
Watched this a few days ago on Texas Fishing Force. It’s a cool and eye opening experiment.
👍
Great vid bro!!
👊
I use zman paddle tales with pro cure and the gulp shrimp. Both are awesome baits.
👍
Great video
Have you tried the fishbites lures with that test?
Fish bites are too stiff so they only provide scent. They work well for fish that you would use cut dead bait for. Fish like flounder also need lure action.
What is a good spinning rod you recommended without spending a fortune.

Welcome to the club Nick, that's all we uses gulp
Thanks buddy

💯
Gulp is my go to!!!
🙌
Success is sweet🎣
Awesome early bite Gulp for win.
Thanks buddy
Hey Nick, I can't imagine you've never tried Gulp but judging from this video it almost sounds like this was your first time?
I’m a believer.
Man what song is this??
Awesome 👍
You never used gulp before this video that explains a lot
Buddy caught a nice red on gulp in some really dirty water when we caught nothing using regular soft plastics. It’s like cheating lol.
I think you have to have two more trial runs. That’ should definitely tell you if it’s true. Like you said, were you just lucky?
Yes sir 👍🏾
I fished with a dude who just let’s the gulp bait sit on bottom and fish would pick it up
👍
Yup that works too dead sticking it but you can also catch lots of cat fish
When in doubt , gulp it out 👍🏼
LoL
I keep Gulp in a waterproof container in my kayak . They just work.
not a gulp fan but nice red
Thanks man
Love Gulp but very fragile and expensive.
Awesome
Thanks!
Why do you leave the tag end on??? Drives me nuts 😂
🤣
If one of you did Z-Man and the other Gulp, then it would be more scientific.

@@RXAngler It is crystal clear what the video suggests. Go watch the first 20 seconds again..
Can you reference the part of the video that suggests sponsorship?
