    What is the correlation between web analytics and data analytics?
    I already have experience with Google analytics and other cx tools, and I am considering expanding my skills in data analytics.
    But I would hate to analyze, let's say, financial data.
    Your thoughts about it?

    • @raneshguruparan
      @raneshguruparan  8 месяцев назад +4

      Web analytics is a subset of the analytics field. To my knowledge, you don’t really go into much programming and focus on the web domain. I’ve used Google Analytics pretty intensely for a previous job and it’s a very good tool for web analytics. As a data analyst, I’ve personally messed with web data, financial data, geolocation data etc. If you want to abstain from financial data specifically you can certainly find a more niched position. With your background in CX, a Business Intelligence profession or a Web Analytics position might suite you well!

      Hey Alanna, that’s a great question. I think this course would help you understand how data is handled and how to properly model data for future data analysts/scientists that you work with. I personally think if you are comfortable with programming and want to dive deeper into the world of data you might be interested in ML/AI. A few courses I recommend for that would be the Advanced Google Data Analytics certification, Andrew Ng & Stanfords MLOps certification. From a SWE perspective, understanding how AI/ML implementation works, building ETLs and Data pipelines definitely could be beneficial. Here are some reviews i’ve made of those courses:

    • @raneshguruparan
      @raneshguruparan  Месяц назад +2

      I'm not sure that it's beneficial to rush the courses and complete it in a month if you don't have adequate time to spend on each module/section. However, if you do want to complete it all in a month, I believe the requirements to get the certifications are just to complete the quizes and labs. You could focus on completing the quizes/labs for the courses/modules that you have some familiarity with the content. There are also a lot of resources online (github/stackhoverflow/quizlet) that guide you through these courses. Again, if your goal is to maximize the learning, I strongly recommend taking your time through each course.

      It depends on what you are optimizing for. Are you trying to get into Data Analytics or learn python for automation. I personally have never taken it so I can't give you reliable advice but I would look at the reviews and make a decision from there.

      Short answer: No.
      Long Answer: It is enough to get you started, understand the fundamentals, get used to the tools and languages used, utilize the workflow and start with your first few projects. Becoming a Data Analyst and actually landing a job will require a lot more effort in terms of external learning and building out new projects, solving real world questions using data and applying for a boat load of jobs.

      As a complete beginner with close to 0 knowledge when it comes to Excel, R, SQL, or any sort of data tools in general, I recommend taking the Google Data Analytics Certification (1), then I would spend some time deciding what you want to do next (focus in Data Analytics, pivot into Data Science or Machine Learning). Based on that I would pursue a relevant course from there (Advance Data Analytics if you want to pursue Data Analytics or IBM Data Science for Data Science/ Andrew Ng Machine learning for ML)

      @raneshguruparan  3 месяца назад +1

      That depends on you. It provides the basic skills that you need to become a Data Analyst. Learning how to become a Data Analyst and landing a job are 2 different things. You could be excellent at coding, visualizing and storytelling but not put in the effort to network, apply for jobs, make a good resume, and sell yourself in your interviews. If you take the skills you learned from this certification and apply them with projects, build a good resume and continuously apply jobs, I have no doubt that you will find success.
