Mike, why not use "Ride-On" tube sealant as it also balances the wheel... No weights necessary to balance. The guys at KTM Grand Junction turned me on to it. Worked perfectly on my 690-
Made my own racks for my 2018 500 5 years ago, similar to the Globetrottin rack. I carry 25kg with no worries, and the bags are not rubbing the bodywork plus I can secure them to the side rails which means no bouncing or breaking that pull strap.
That Lucioli setup is pretty interesting. It has a lot counterweight though, it's not a race bike so it doesn't matter, it might just make it more stable. I've been running TUBliss on my 701 which I do enduro touring with, and I've had to add maybe half of the counterweight you have. Btw, if you install the TUBliss with Slime it holds air much better, you don't need to run it at 100psi, you should for sure if you can, but it holds air at 80 or 70psi, which means you don't need to check the pressures every day, gets rid of that headache. I've not had a puncture with that setup, despite riding it pretty rough. Also I've been eyeing the TUBliss copycat product Nomousse. The inner tire is larger and they don't have rim lock (and they have it for 2.5" rims), which makes me think balancing the tire will be easier. That's just speculation, I haven't actually tried it and I probably won't any time soon because TUBliss just works and it doesn't really wear. Great product! My next bike will be a 500 for sure.
Gee wiz that's nice. Hmm, saying 25lbs in the bags makes me a bit concerned. I've been carrying around 45lbs in the R80. But it's the 2015 501. Have done two week long trips. I don't see any cracks on the sub frame, no sagging. Crossing my fingers.
The difference is the new Ktm and Husky's have a carbon injected polyamide upper subframe that saves weight and dampens vibrations but it's not as burly as the full aluminum subframe on your bike. But then again I haven't heard of the new ones breaking either since they switched to aluminum supports on the new gen.
Great news on getting the racks sorted. Have been crying out for one. Any ideas when they will hit the market? And will they fit the 2024 husky 501? Hope to get the new fuel pick up as well. Ready this month?
Thanks for this and all your product videos ... Great source of inspiration and ideas on how I want to build out my 501. I'm intrigued with your "Yamaha style" front cable routing ... Any consideration to doing a video on your process to make that change including any parts needed?
I’ve seen some of the KTM RFS bikes with a Fastway exhaust tip installed, but they don’t list any available on the Fastway website for the RFS bikes. I messaged Fastway but never heard back. Do you by chance know if any particular ones fit? Also thanks for the root beer candy, that stuff is really good.
That round silencer shape and diameter was the same from 1998-2007 for four strokes so any tips from that era would be compatible. 08 and newer the silencers went to a hexagon like shape. Your best bet would be to find a used fmf turbine core and re-pack it, good as new.
Unfortunately anodizing can do that with sustained high speed riding. That’s one downside to it Black has a fairly low color-fast heat threshold especially when exposed to long duration high heat sessions Luckily we’re releasing a line of ultra high temp tolerant Cerakoated pro moto caps that won’t heat or sun fade
If TAT riders need assistance while on the western side of the trail up to the east Slope of the cascades, please reach out. I am familiar with the country extremely well. Donations welcome but not necessary.
When running lower PSI for better off-road traction, you need to allow for some flex and movement of the tube. If the nut were tightened down to the rim, the stem could tear out of the tube.
@@TACOMOTOCO very interesting! Hmmmmm 🤔 I think it’s a myth. I run a IRC VE-33S Volcanduro Gekkota gummy at 6psi on my 2024 KTM 300 XC-DUB and have never had an issue. I ride hard enduro in American Fork Canyon (Utah).
What an amazing build! Good luck to the owner on n his TAT adventures

Great to hear you are coming out with a rack!
Sick build! Homeboy knows what’s up with all the TMD protection. Good Shit! Thx for sharing Taco!!!!!💪🙌🤘🤙
👏🏽👏🏽
So very nice.
Be happy to tackle anything on that badass bike!
Nice work!
🏍️💨
Dirttricks is always good!
My God! Inspiring me to do this to the 25 EXC 500 Six Days!!! Wow 😍😍😍
Cool bike. I appreciate the knowledge you share here and love your products thank you!
Love this build!
Great video. Great build. Keep up the great work 👍

This is setup almost exactly like my '22 500 xcfw, but I have a true north motos rack on mine. Beautiful machine!

Amazing bike
What about that exhaust shield near the shock? Looks good
Nice build! Rear brake line isn't in the swingarm clips.
Noted and sorted 🤜🏽🤛🏽
Sweet ride.

I’ve got the tnm rack on my 23 fe450 and just finished the cobdr worked awesome. What gearing are you running on this bike? Does it have a Cush drive?
Does this Build Require valve checks and possibly adjustments when doing BDR's? I would imagine you need to check on the trail?
I thought the same thing he must have a few stops lined up for service.
Do you need to change the rim if you use the luciolli rear tube?
Negative
Just need to drill a hole for the additional rim lock
What about service intervals on TAT? Is it manageable?

PLEASE... We really want to know where you're getting those awesome barkbusters with the built-in mirrors!?!?!?! Link to buy? Etc...
They are Highway Dirtbike guards.
missed the stegz pegz. They are lifesavers on long trips
What gearing, stock 14/48?
Best gearing for BDR?
How long has that Pmb end cap been on there? The black anodozing looks faded already.
Unfortunately anodizing can do that with sustained high speed riding. That’s one downside to it

Is there any 690 enduro R build on the chanel ?

from NZ. what would something like this bike cost? approx
Can you email paul at our shop who can get into the specifics of this bike and help answer any questions you have about it
Rtwpaul@tacomoto.co 🤜🏽🤛🏽
$21,426.78USD…not including shipping to NZ
In the US base msrp for 500 EXC-F is $13,100 not including dealer fees and tax. With parts and labor that build is well over twenty thousand USD.
Killer bike, for any adventure.
At 11:38 i don't understand why all the weights are right by the rim lock?
That’s what it took to balance out the wheel
Without balancing you can basically churn butter on your rear rack.
Any risk running those tubes at higher speeds. Probably not much highway on TAT I guess.
No issue on the highway, especially w them silicone lubed
@@TACOMOTOCO COOL
Whats the advantage of running a 120 rear?
More comfort, traction, stability, and load capacity.
I think the original tire was a Motoz enduro It.
Thanks, yes that’s correct. A great tire but not durable enough for the TAT
The video starts at 2:30. :-)
For such a clean high end bike those handguards just look so cheap.. Awesome build though!
Those are HDB handguards. No one else makes anything even close to as stout.
You might want to tighten that nut to the rim on the valve stem….. just sayin! 😆 you guys must’ve deleted my first post about this. 😬👎
We don’t tighten stem nuts against the rim, they are intentionally tightened against the cap or not used at all
@@TACOMOTOCO ohhhh wow! Never heard of that. I’ve always done just finger tight. What’s the reasoning for your method? Why do they have the nut then?
When running lower PSI for better off-road traction, you need to allow for some flex and movement of the tube. If the nut were tightened down to the rim, the stem could tear out of the tube.
