Sorry to say, video doesnt help me. Reason being, the valve cover bolts are frozen from years of being splashed in water/salt. Same for oil pan bolts. Tiny 6mm bolts with 10mm bolt heads frozen into the aluminum block along with their washer side rusting to the pan surface.
@@adamdistortion8810 Your wrong. 2007 Subarus 2.5 valve cover bolts are lower and are exposed to the salt and calcium chloride dumped on the raod and as I said, are splashed in salt in the rust belt. Perhaps you live below that belt and have no experience getting off rusted parts. I asked the Subaru mechanic (two years ago) how he gets them off. He said often, they don't budge and he just break the valve cover off and replaces it. If a part is severely rusted, no good 'wrenching' as you put it is going to get if off. By the way, your two years too late with a half ass answer.
@@Romulan112 im literally working on a 06 impreza 2.5i right now. Doing the headgaskets. The valve cover bolts at the bottom where rusty and nasty. For your perspective, my oil pan is no longer black, just bubbly rust. I ran into no problems removing both the valve covers and the oil pan. The only hickup i had was one of the tens on the oil pan was so crusty it rounded out. I took a 9mm, hammered it on, sprayed pb blaster, and removed the bolt. If there is a will, there is a way. Whatever mechanic told you he had to break the valve cover off is not a good mechanic. Dont be smug romulan. There is no reason the bolts shouldnt have come off. The threads are never rusty, only the top and mating surface.
@@adamdistortion8810 Thats the thing about it, they rust into the valve cover. When I tried two years ago, they were about to snap off. I didnt want to snap bolts off. Again, your Subaru may not be as rusted as mine. The only RUclipsr who had a better idea than the Subaru mechanic that I had asked was the PineHollow diagnostics. He did the job another way. If memory serves me right, he snapped the bolt off and welded a nut head on it. He got it super hot and with a new head. It backed right out of there. that worked but I didn't nor still don't have is a MIG welder. Your way scares me. I know how much torque I can go before I snap a bolt.
Great video. I would probably try the gasket. I think I have a small leak. Coming from the rear of the oil pan. Need to investigate.
What about the O'Ring that is highly recommended to replace before installing the oil pan back?
Wonderful...this video does help me at all!! How about showing us while it's ON the car??
Nice ! New motor mounts too
Oh you better believe it!
Is that a pitch stop mount? The one you called a stopper in the beginning. Lmk thanks
Very helpful video thank you so much!
Does Subaru uses fancy active engine mounts or just normal ones?
Normal ones.
Mechanic put a gasket on mine and now I’m worried
To change an oil pan gasket got to do a lobotomy

Bummer. Try an extractor socket set. Makes all the difference.
Honestly u just arent good at wrenching if those bolts are giving u issues. Take ur cars to a mechanic before u messs them up
