    Been using the Vantage M for 2 week, getting it to sync to my phone took ages. But once it did the app is easy to use showed what I needed to know.
    Big problem I've found is I'm hitting my activity goal every day when I'm not being very active. Everything from showering, cleaning and driving is picked up as an activity. By driving 4 hours, I'd done 20000+ steps and moved over 10 mile. When I hadn't done more than 100 steps and hand moved more than 20 meters.
    Using the sport profiles, seemed accurate, a 3 mile run was what it covered and an hour swim showed the same number of lengths I'd counted. Sleep tracking also seems accurate.

    • @EmWizzFitness
      @EmWizzFitness  5 лет назад

      That's interesting that you report that, for me steps are not picked up while I'm sitting down. Though I do agree that it probably overestimates.

    I bought the Vantage M to upgrade from Fitbit without spending half a grand on a watch, and I've been thinking that aside from how much better there 💓 monitor is that it wasn't working out. After this review the watch settings make so much more sense. Thank you! I love it so much more already.

    Actually returned my M last week as my oHR was unusable. It was plain bad, bad, bad. Im not sure why certain people are not getting good results at all with the new Polar but DC Rainmaker who is an avid sports gadget reviewer admitted that the Apple Watch is superior in both GPS and oHR to the Polar. Wanted to love it, but could not keep HR accurate during a workout.

    I have a few questions:
    1. Do you find the sleep tracking accurate?
    2. Is the battery advertised on the website accurate? (30 hours when training with GPS and HRM on)
    3. How adjustable is the backlight? Will the watch automatically turn on backlight when you interact with it? Can you adjust the backlight brightness?
    4. Does sync-ing with your phone need to be manual everytime?

      Hi there! Glad you enjoyed the review
      1. I have found it similar to other polar watches I have owned and it seems accurate but have nothing to compare it to
      2. I have not consistently used the GPS and HRM for that length of time but have found the battery life to be very impressive. 30 hours would not surprise me
      3. The backlight is not adjustable, however when you interact with the watch it brightens further
      4. Yes
      Hope that helps!

      @@cypdk,
      it is supposed to be the most accurate but according to the reviews so far it is not. I had high expectations for the Vantage but it seems if you want reliable measurements you still need a chest strap. Also all the new features are running/cycling oriented. So basically you pay premium price for just a running watch.

    • @MarioCastaneda22
      @MarioCastaneda22 5 лет назад +2

      I think i figured it out. Its because that the continuous HR is off. On the A370 continuous HR is on by default and on the M & V they are off. When you look in the manual of either watch: "It enables more accurate measurement of daily calorie consumption and your overall activity because also physical activities with very little wrist movement, such as cycling, can now be tracked." My understanding of that is that with it off and you are walking it cannot detect how high your HR is and is only counting steps and trying to calculate your calories burnt with out knowing your HR. This is like the V800 that does not have OHR. You can try turning it on for a couple of days and see if this makes sense

I'm mostly doing weightlifting in the gym, but I also want to add a small amount of cardio to my schedule. Currently I'm struggling to choose between a Fitbit Versa or the Polar Vantage M. I read many titles about Polar Vantage M and V. Differences?
    ... Amateur, recreator (M) and professional athlete (V)? Home budget ...
    Differences: Does it mean that M and V equally show heart
    rate (what's older: more important), swimming in the pool, GPS tracking in the
    sea, running a GPS track, except for altitude, which would have to show the
    clock with the barometer better . ?????
    ... So can the answer be to the question (should it be the
    same) - to make it easier to decide for model M.

    Hi, great video. I just got one of these (with the red band too cause it is a great colour). I hav0ebjust set up the watch with the app on my android tablet, and am now trying to learn about all the functions of the watch. I have always found polar to be a little light on in their instructions. I have the watch all set up but am not really clear how to use it or what to do next. A couple of questions I had and am looking into just incaseyou might know the answer:
    1) is there a way of increasing the brightness of the screen? I find the display is very dim and hard to see unless you reflect the light just right. 2) can you change the date format to the Australian format ie dd/mm/yyyy. 3) when running is there some way of pressing a lap button to mark a certain event e.g a lap around an Oval. I want to mark when I finish a run to record my recovery for 10 min afterwards, 4) from what I understand there are many functions and many analyses that the watch and/or the software can do, but I am not clear on how to do it. Have you found any good instructions on how to use each of the functions of the watch and the app other than just messing around and working it out yourself? For a relatively high end piece of equipment I would have expected better guidance.

    Such a good review, thank you very much... year still do not understand, why the wrist tracking vs. chest strap is lower. Even with a certain latence btw. wrist and chest (simply accounting for the distance from sensor to the Heart), I do not understand the difference...

    • @EmWizzFitness
      @EmWizzFitness  5 лет назад

      They are different measurement techniques. The chest strap is like an ECG and detects the electrical activity of the heart. The wrist tracking is an optical/light sensor and measures the volume of blood in your arteries.

    Great review! So helpful hands on review. Ive had Polar watches 10 years, my current is M400 (even though I'm not a runner,, lol) so Im used to Polar and wearing chest strap for when specifically exercising - was HR stable or accurate? in wrist based and chest strap? However I am torn between Polar Ignite (better display -but think this is always on draining battery!) I think one cannot turn off the monitoring HR 24/7 on Ignite but I like the brighter display . Did you try this Vantage M with a chest strap too? as this would make it kore accurate rather than wrist only? I would love your views on Polar Ignite v's Polar Vantage M (the one you were gifted to review here)
    Note:My activity is general activity monitoring, gym, home workouts, cardio workouts, classes, including cycling, outdoors walks (not miles and miles -maybe just 1-2 hours max) and 'occasional' runs. Anyone reading opinions, suggestions?

    I’m really wanting to stick with Polar, I’ve owned and extensively used them and their Personal Training website and currently the Flow App and website. Truly very comprehensive data tracking.
    My issue is the Google Wear OS that my iPhone X has to use with my M600. It doesn’t sync and I’m not sure if it’s compatible with Apple’s iOS 13.3 ?
    Anyway I’m waiting to see what Polar is going to say about my M600 and either get a new Polar Vantage M or maybe another brand if I have too, but don’t want too.
    I’ll be using the H7 Polar strap to connect to the watch instead of wrist tracking, but occasionally wrist for indoor workouts.

    Great review! But one question is left and I have not been able to find a satisfying answer for it, so could you tell me which Metrics and Data are being recorded in the Kajak and canoe sportsprofile? Is there stroke count or so? I'm really into kajaking and this is the most important thing I would use a multisport watch for, so it would be great if you could check this out!

    Can u customize the main watch face to show the total daily calories (found under activity)?

    • @EmWizzFitness
      @EmWizzFitness  5 лет назад

      No. The main watch face will only show digital or analog time, and % activity. You have to click through activity to see total daily calories.

      That's a software feature, so you could request that and they could possibly add that in a future firmware update. It's already possible to choose between digital and analog watch face. "Digital + Daily Calories" watch face would be a great option.

    Is smartphone notifications activated yet. I have the Polar M400 and will be updating because of the much longer battery life using gps for trail running. Great review.

    You earned a like. I know all the features. You missed a lot of die hard details. I am an proffesional athlete. I was searching for an polar vantage V Review. Still, this watch his simularities on terms of design and build. So Thank you for this great close up footage from some menu’s and overall design. Because of your voice and relaxed energy I was enjoying and pleased with this video. Michael...

      Thank you! I know that I missed a lot of details but it would have been a very very long video to cover everything so just wanted to cover the main features. Appreciate the like and feedback!

    Great review! Do you know if there are any options to brighten the screen light? I have the A370 now, and when you held them up side by side I couldn't help but notice how dark the Vantage M seemed :o

    • @EmWizzFitness
      @EmWizzFitness  5 лет назад

      I don't think there is any way of brightening the light but personally I haven't had any issues with it!

    Does the USB cable Polar Flow sync work with Apple iOS Catalina. I know in the past I had to use my PC to sync my older Polar’s to Polar Personal Trainer website and software.

    Hi Emma,
    Good review thanks.
    I have one question though.
    Can I connect H10 chest strap to vantage M during the training so watch recognise it and overwrite wrist HR readings with the ones from the HR belt? Or after sync I will have 2 separate activities or double count of calories in one activity?
    Thanks,
    Konrad

    • @EmWizzFitness
      @EmWizzFitness  4 года назад

      No you can't connect the H10 halfway through training - have to start at the start, or two separate sessions like you say :)

    Thanks for all the information, I find it very useful. Just one question, how do I set up a voice que per kilometer and previous kilometer pace so I can hear this on my Bluetooth headphones? I have this set up in Strava, but I’d rather hear it on polar. Is it possible?

      The screen is always lit, and then brightens further when you interact with the watch

    Is it possible to show heart rate as a percentage rather than the actual heart rate? I know the polar m430 has this feature and I’m wondering if the vantage has this too.

    • @EmWizzFitness
      @EmWizzFitness  5 лет назад +2

      Yes :) You can view heart rate as BPM, % of maximum, and % of heart rate reserve (difference between resting heart rate and maximum heart rate)

    How long does it take to sync to the phone? I have Polar M400 but it's way too slow to sync... it sometimes take over 5 minutes
