    The breathing feature is great. People with chronic fatigue syndrome really can benefit, by making sure they get their body in relaxation mode in time. Just like training with heart rate variability. This watch is great for people trying to recover or at least sustain the most optimal activity level that is possible.

    Some interesting features there from Polar. Great, informative videos as always. You’re way more in-depth than anyone else out there (I realise this was just a first look video and not an in-depth review). Any of my friends interested in sports tech, I send them your way. Keep up the good work. It’s highly appreciated.

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  5 лет назад +8

      One minor clarification is that in workout mode there is the option to enable always-on, but not in regular watch mode.

    • @MateHegyhati
      @MateHegyhati 5 лет назад +2

      To be honest: I have an Instinct too, and it has a feature of turning on the backlights after sunset when looking at it. So far it seems to be working perfectly for me. So, if it is that accurate, I would not mind if my watch turns off the display completely when I'm not looking at it. (Of course that would probably be meaningless in case of an Instinct, where the screen uses comparatively much less energy than a colorful touch screen with higher resolution.)

Can't run, so not sad over some lacking features for running. Mainly considering the Ignite for lifestyle improving purposes. They lost me at "touch screen". As a naturally sweaty guy living in Florida I can't operate touch screens until about 20 minutes after I finish a run - at least during the summer.

    • @Mornys
      @Mornys 5 лет назад

      Not all touch screens are alike. Some are very sensitive even with wet or dry fingers, but they are more sensitive for missclicks as well. That's why there needs to be a tactile button to lock the screen for when you're not supposed to be using it. Without it even a sweaty sleeve can accidentally dial that screen.

    I do like the look of the sleep related workouts, especially because I work night shifts, sometimes I find it tough when on a change over shift to keep on track with a training plan when you’ve had very little or bad sleep (a long run is far from ideal after 4/5 hours sleep), also a after work session can run me into the next day so it can look like I’ve not taken a rest day or done 2 sessions in one day (currently using Vivo Active Music)

    Been using mine for 3 days.. I'll definitely return it for another one since I have no vibration nor sounds. Although sounds were not advertised (I reasonably expected a 200 euros watch to be able to make a bloody beep, the fact that the vibration doesn't work make it basically useless while training...Let's hope the replacement one works though...

    @ dcrainmaker
    Question about Polar ignite optical heartrate monitoring during swimming.
    The Polar Vantage watches are able to monitor heartrate during a swim session by enabling the optical sensor and recording the bpm data.
    I like this because the polar h10 chestband tends to slip off during quick swimming pool edge turns.
    Does the cheaper Polar ignite also has this swimming heartrate monitoring functionality ?

    • @PascalKolkman
      @PascalKolkman 5 лет назад +3

      Polar online confirmed regarding my question that the Polar ignite watch with the Polar Precision Prime™ sensor also is able to measure heartrate during a swim session.

    How does it track your night time breathing?¿
    I understand that touchscreen is kind of a No-Go for some of you, but what's the big deal with a shut down display... As long as I have always on screen for my workouts, I'm fine with it... at least as long as the laggy display will perform better once the final sw is used
    And it's just good to see, that - from time to time - you're not asked to accept silly price tags for new gear and / or functions

      I'm really liking a lot of the software features of the watch and really hope Garmin are keeping an eye on this. Do all of the exercises pop up on the companion app as well? Reading on that tiny screen doesn't seem ideal.

I love the Polar Flow and Beat apps they work great. The wrist HR is way off compared to the BT with the H7 Strap. It also hiccups a lot with my iPhone 10 OS. I’m deciding if I’m going to change to Android phones just because I love Polar watches but I’m hoping that someday Polar will adapt to Apple OS. I refuse to buy an Apple Watch for my training. Polar Ignite or Garmin Forerunner 245, it's a pretty difficult choice...

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  5 лет назад +5

      Indeed. I think I'd say the Ignite is a really good fitness-focused device when you might not be as deep into some of the metrics, whereas the FR245 can go a bit deeper on the metrics and also has the Connect IQ apps for 3rd parties (and of course music if you go with that model).

The number of the running index is a arbitry unit and not VO2max; I could find out how Polar puts this number together. My VO2max is about 70+ and running index about 90+, it more confusing when the number align more. Thanks for reviewing! (Is it true the ´go to start' function is not featured?)

    Great reviews but I'm interested only that this watch does what my trusty but rather aged M400 does. The blank screen feature, wandering GPS and slow heart rate response isn't giving me confidence. Things I like the most with my M400 when I get home are the GPS track, heart rate, speed and the Recovery Chart. While I'm out I like to know immediately my speed, distance travelled and heart rate, nothing else. No RUclipsrs have shown me that a replacement does these simple things. I've never had a problem sleeping or making up my own workouts so those features have zero interest for me. Thanks.

    Great video.I am in the market for getting a fitness tracker. I have been very inactive in the past fews and looking to get a fitness tracker to give me good accurate measurement. I have not been too impressed with fitbits. Do you recommend this product based on what's it's offering and it's heart rate accuracy ?

    I have seen that you can connect your Polar Ignite with Strava. Does it also import Strava Activities to Polar so that these activities are included in calculations for overall workload and so on? I like cycling and i use a bike computer to record my workouts. would be great to merge the activities and use Ignites workload monitoring functionality...

      No, it's a one-way sync to Strava for that kind of data.

    Don't know what all this nonsense is about the touch screen. I've been using a Garmin Vivoactive 3 for the last year and have had absolutely no problems with the touch screen. You can lock it and the display is always on.

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  5 лет назад +1

      That's great, but last I checked the Vivoactive 3 isn't the Polar Ignite. Just because one has a feature doesn't mean the other does. That'd be like saying that a 747 carries 300 people, therefor so can a small Cesna airplane. After all, they're all airplanes. I outlined pretty clearly the limitations as it sits with the Polar device, which uses a different screen tech than the Garmin Vivoactive 3 you have, which also uses a different screen than the Apple Watch, which has yet different limitations.

    Polar business plan, release a premium product, then ignore customers, stop generating updates, release a cheaper product with better functionality.... then repeat!

    Will it work with tattooed skin? I was bummed out to oearn that activity bands such as fitbit charge 3, polar a370 and probably huawei band 3 pro won't work well with tattooed skin. And I have full sleeves.
    So what do you think? Any clues on the matter?

    • @Hustlate
      @Hustlate 5 лет назад

      Won't work. As long as they are using optical measurement your ink is going to cause problems. For the same reason I decided to leave little blank space on my left arm sleeve.

      @@SimoPortti your mileage may vary. At least polar, suunto or garmin say on their websites that tattoos can interfere with optical sensors, but so can having a darker skin tone or thicker skin. Some people are not suitable for optical heart rate.
